It is not hard to debunk Charles Van Vant Sr, extremist Florida House member district 21 who proposed drilling off the Florida coast. Nelson proves Van Zant can not be trusted!
Interesting that our hurricane coverage is being reduced and the potential result of oil spills will further damage sea life as well as human life on land. 7.5m gallons spilled is nothing compared to what these changes create.
Take a very long focus on the repercussions of this proposal.
Why did you remove E Verify from the Stimulus Bill? Why do you care so little about poor American workers and always favor bringing in more immigrants to reduce our wages? Do you hope to gain new Democrat voters from immigrants while ignoring the people that made this country? Why have you done nothing to combat the massive fraud in the worker visa programs that steal American jobs?
The point is: It is time to change to different energy sources that do not endanger the environment. Right wing conservatives like you use big words but really are close-minded and blind to reality. You prove my point about being illiterate, Douchebag1986. You might want to see your doctor. I think you are suffering from Histrionic Personality Disorder or HDP or you could just be stupid.
The reality is that global warming (or is it "climate change" now that it has been cooling for the past decade) is a complete sham, and we have 200 more years of oil and 1000 more years of coal before we need to change energy sources. I check today how much it would cost to buy a solar system to power a single pool pump. It would cost over $8000 and require my entire south facing roof. Wind? Forget about it. I'm the one living in reality.
After all, I graduated in the top 15% from the Naval Academy with a real degree, where I earned the cool nickname "Douche bag" after over-gesticulating and knocking a full pitcher of beer in a buddy's lap, who was decked out in his SDB's, which was required of "youngsters" at USNA.
Also tested a 145 I.Q. So I don't buy the "you're stupid" argument.
Typical liberal, can't argue a point so you start name-calling.
Do you ride around Wal-Mart in a Lard-Ass scooter?
I don't do business with Wal-Mart first of all. Second, I have supported the Military since before you were born performing Depot Level Maintenance on A6, EA6B, F-14, E2C and F-5 Aircraft to ensure the Navy have the best. If you are in the Navy, good for you. As you get older and get some more experience under your belt, maybe you will realize that change is hard to accept but necessary. Having a high I.Q. is great but it doesn't mean you're right about everything.
Sounds like you've been caught up in the hopenchange frenzy.
I was an EA6B Prowler ECMO in the USMC. My bro-in-law is a retired E2 pilot, so thank you for your good work.
I'm actually old enough to be retired from the Marines, but I got out to start my own business. I'm not some wet-behind-the-ears kid.
I am surprised that an elder such as yourself could be so gullible. "Green" is the new state-sponsored religion. Anthroprogenic global warming/climate change has been thoroughly debunked.
Did the oil come ashore or did it evaporate, Senator? Why are you opposed to drilling for natural gas offshore? Because of the threat of a natural gas spill on our beaches? Why do you tow the man-made global warming leading to catastrophe party line when that hypothesis has be so thoroughly debunked by hundreds of scientists as well as my own eyes.
You are a partisan hack in a party that's been taken over by anti-capitalist, anti-prosperity, dare I say marxist, environmentalist nutjobs.
Yeah Bill, where did all this oil go? Don't you think if an eyedropper's worth of crude oil washed up on any gulf beach in any state the media would be all over it reporting about it 24/7?
Bill, do we have category 5 hurricanes hitting the gulf everyday? Do you think it is reasonable to say that for 360 days per year oil could be extracted cleanly and safely from the whole gulf anywhere it's located?
Almost free sources of energy? What do you have against splitting atoms to boil water to produce steam to turn a turbine and produce power day or night to run your electric car? Do you have any of these almost free sources of energy deployed to power your electric car?
Comparing Chernobyl to U.S. nuke plants is like comparing the Yugo to a Cadillac. The U.S. Navy has been operating nuclear reactors SAFELY for about 60 years. Even the French produce 80% of their electricity with nuclear power. But you site a third world commie reactor where untrained engineers intentionally disabled all the safety device in order to do some "test."
Read this book: Power to Save the World. It might enlighten you and change your mind.
I can't believe the amount of NIMBY people have in opposition to drilling for oil in the gulf. They'll have to deliver your electric car on a truck with a 500HP diesel engine. Where are all these purported "tar balls" of spilled crude oil washing up on FL beaches? To my knowledge it has never happened for the simple reason that ExxonMobil makes zero dollars spilling crude oil into the ocean. They do, however, make boatloads of moola refining crude into usable forms of energy.
@barry34785 An oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Louisiana has spread to cover more than 1,800 square miles as of Monday afternoon. The oil spill is coming from a leak in the well that was drilled by the Transocean Deepwater Horizon, a giant offshore drilling rig that exploded and sank last week. The oil spill is reported to be leaking about t 42,000 gallons a day from a well nearly a mile deep. The spilled oil is reaching as far in as 20 miles from the coast of Louisiana.
@barry34785 Us NIMBY people have to try to convince tourists to come to our beaches to make a living, I dont see that happening with oil slicked beaches. You bring your ass down here and help clean up the mess you support, wash some seabirds and pick up dead sea turtle and dolphin carcasses. Ill pay $6 a gallon or ride my bike to work.
@DonDiesel84 Nice of you to revisit this video to make comments to me about something I wrote a YEAR ago. Do you really have that much time on your hands? Shouldn't you be a little more curious about why this rig exploded in the first place? Why was it a rig 51 miles offshore and not one say, 100 or more miles out? Why now? We've been drilling there for years and 30 days after Obama says we should drill some more this happens? Could it be an act of eco terror?
Sen. Nelson, just wanted to tell you thanks for what you do. We here on the Gulf Coast of Florida dont want oil rigs off our shores or the tarballs on our beaches that come with them. You stayed at my hotel when you came to Destin a few years back. It was an honor having you stay with us! Take care!
I guess it's just fine with you that we continue to enrich America's Enemies so long as you don't have to look at an oil rig on the horizon outside your hotel. I don't know how you could see one if it was more than 30 miles offshore due to the curvature of the Earth.
Did Billy tip generously or did he do what Hillary does and stiff you?
More like an act of terror caused by corporate greed.

Try and learn how to spell Florida correctly and maybe that will make you feel smarter. Are you another conservative illiterate?

Typical liberal. You can't argue a point so you go after a typo. What a pussy.

I can not belive that they want to drill off the coast of florida after seeing the damage caused by oil spills in the past.I want an electric car!!!
ShleeJay 3 years ago
Will you run it on electricity generated by nuclear power plants?

What does an electric car have to do with nuclear power?
Solar, wind, and tides are good clean and almost free sorces of energy.
