This was a really strong movie on all fronts. The soundtrack was flawless. The story was gripping. The casting was picture perfect. And Dane Cook was actually... good.

Steve Carell is amazing. He's a funny mu'fucka. But he has no problem digging deep in to a vulnerable character tha has depth. I think he just went to #1 with a bullet on my list too.

@upabittoolate No, this wasn't a strong movie on all fronts. Yes, the soundtr4ack was excellent and the casting was very good, overall. HOWEVER, contrivances abounded in this film. In particular, the way Carell's character was forced to create friction with his own daughter. It was ridiculous and did not make his character sympathetic at all.

Very well done! This is the movie that made Steve Carell become my favorite actor. Little Miss Sunshine is my favorite movie but seeing him as a lead and STILL able to portray such sadness in a more developed way was fascinated me. I also love this song!

this was in my opinion steve carrel's greatest work in the more serious genre of film. he really made you feel sad for how much pain he's in, having no one after losing his wife, and yet he doesn't feel sorry for himself because he finds inspiration from his three daughters. its almost a hope for those going through similar hardships. his character was so well portrayed, he seemed like an actual living breathing person that was really experiencing this.
