I have found that any form of dogmatism is very unhealthy for our species, for it removes the necessary direct experience with oneself. When on realizes that I and I alone am responsible for my experiences in life, I will remain seeing life through a glass darkly. I see religion as dogmatic and robs the individual of accepting personal responsibility for ones actions in this life. There is no god, buddha, saint, ect... that will save us, we must bear the responsibility for our actions alone.

I hear people say the tibetans were poor people and life was hard in the old Tibet. Well I live in the US and life is hard here too. I took on poverty so that I had more time for spiritual development and this is exactly what the Tibetan people did also. Jesus was poor and so were the disciples. The Buddha was a wondering homeless man. Poverty seems to follow those of us in spiritual development. SO WHAT.

When religion meets political power. It becomes helpless, broken, twisted, corrupted, destroyed. That what was happened to the medieval Christian church, so did it happen to the Tibet Buddhism. Perharps this is a chance for the Tibet monks to redeem and purify themself. You can't be clean when power is in your hand and mind.

The Dalai Lama gets all his money from the CIA (as discovered by the journalist Webster Tarpley), so it's actually American taxpayers who pay for this guy to go around speaking and for publishing, etc. (from memory it's 2-3 million $USD/annum). This is done because it shits the Chinese up the wall.
But what's more rotten is that the Lama represents and advocates for one of the most backwards, inhumane, feudal (95% poverty stricken serfs) societies that existed on the planet.

I would take Dalai Lama's new world order any day! Although not religious myself (or maybe because I'm not) I applaude his long continued work to advance tolerance between different cultures and religions. If only other religious leaders would follow his way! More this, less crusades and Big Brother police state!
