i loved valium because i couldnt sleep,pain, and nerve issues...the muscle relaxing qualities helped me stay away from oxycodone....i wouldnt take acetameniphen stomach problems and usually get very sick..i have been off my meds for about a month with no doctor....b4 this 3 days of restarting generic from non...3 months b4 that....nothing i lied to him.....felt bad told him cuz he said i was doing much better...b4 that 3 months of 1-3 pills per week, 1-3 was daily..dose....so live with it?love

Xanax, Valium and many other drugs are appropriate for anxiety. I suspect that this drug is poppular with doctors because it is not necessary to increase or monitor the dose as tolerance develops, unlike the typical benzos.
@Mmmousemaid What? That's not right at all. I have taken clonazepam before and have never had issues. It is pretty addictive though, and you reach a point where 1 pill isn't enough and you have to go for more (and so on).

They weren't meant to be prescribed past 9 weeks, but regulations have been removed in order to allow doctors to prescribe them for longer if needed, but these doctors prescribe them for way too long. These drugs down regulate your GABA receptors the longer you are on them. So the w/d will be more intense and far reaching the longer you are on these pills. THESE DRUGS ARE VERY VERY BAD !! Clonazepam has helped my epileptic seizures. Haven't witnessed the addictive effects as I never missed a dose, though I do start shivering 18 to 20 hours after the previous dose. It helped me.
I am on 2mg TID of clonazepam. It helps tremendously with my anxiety which is very severe. I am also on 20mg BID of Adderall. Do the two cancel each other out??? I know one is a downer and one is an upper. Is there danger taking both?
i dont get why they say strongly addicting , a patient would only become addicted if they werent taking the medication properly,. i take valium i dont care about the connotations that it has, I dont feel addicted to it and only use it for occasional sever insomnia and panic , but i feel like i am properly cared for by my doctors
Doctor, in your experience could a subclinical dose (0.25 mg once a day) of clonazapam (prescribed for a generalized anxiety disorder with some depressive symptoms) actually make anxiety somewhat worse in some cases? That's a very small dose. I actually was prescribed 0.5 mg twice a day but I'm not a fan of being on benzos...

@SkTzO7 There are better drugs for sleep that won't be addicitve and loose effectiveness like clonazapam will. This drug is best used for waking hours, not as a sleep aid. You may want to ask about trazadone. It's good for sleep. You most likely can split a 50 mg tablet and do well, but you need to consult a doctor.
I like Clonazepam. It doesnt create tolerance/dependance as fast as Xanax or Ativan, and one can easily taper from a moderate dose down to a low dose with proper non-bzd meds. Clonazepam is favorable because it has a moderately long half-life like valium but less sedative. It's good for insomnia and anxiety but If you're an aspie or schizoid type, may be good to introduce haldol combined to wipe out the paranoid delusions that clonazepam doesnt help, making u less dependent on klonopin alone
@enzyme20056 It depends on your brain chemistry, if you are a "neurotypical" marijuana is less addictive and very helpful for most. However if you happen to have a less stable mind, particularly autism, aspergers, schizophrenia, then marijuana is a HUGE no no and should be avoided alltogether because It can amplify or trigger panic attacks, psychotic thinking etc. Marijuana is poorly understood due to its vast array of unpredictable effects for some, but for most people they seem to like it.

But in talking to your doctor about certain anticonvulsants like depakote might help to prevent more serious withdrawal symptoms. as far as comfort goes, pretty much the only thing that can be done during tapering or withdrawal is to avoid things in your diet that cause anxiety and maybe chamomile tea. Still, the doctor would best be able to guide you as different people have very different chemistry and what works for someone could cause harm in another

really silly question: if you take it only a few days then stop can I get withdrawals? I try to keep it to occasional use only, under 1mg. With .75mg being the max. At a mg it is too much of a downer for me.

sometimes doctors seem to focus far to much on the addictive potential and negative things about benzos, i mean at the end of the day a chemical medication no matter what it is has the potential to do harm in some people. all the alarms going off about benzos just takes away the good side to them for those that need them and are leaving some poor people to suffer just cos some docs are too cautious in prescribing just encouraging people to buy them illegally or get into even worse drugs

I finally got some valium after years of torture, initially i was stressed when when i saw that there were no repeats on the prescription. but now just knowing that i have them on stand by if i have a panic attack is calming in its own right. 1.25 mg is enough to calm me down now.
xanax is definetly nasty.... just came down just from 0.5 mg nightly and is giving me withdrawal (not that bad, maybe because the low dose) and klonopin instead is curing me the cold turkey...i already had weaned me off klonopin and had no adverse reactions, but xanax man, nasty withdrawal....

wait till u hear the cocktail im on,i take effentora 600mcg qds,(called fentora over there) diconal 3 tablets tid (which is the very powerful dipipanone 10mg and cyclizine 30mg as a standard tablet) and i was on clonazepam 2mg bid but found it a bit sedating so i switched to 0.5mg qds.all this crap is for 2 herniated disc's in my lower back cant wait to have my op in a few months to be off all tis crap,i imagine its gonna be a long crappy taper,oh the joy. but still better than being in agony.

I am a big fan of & have learned a lot from Doctor of Mind, M.D.
NOTICE: I even caught Doctor of Mind, M.D. use 'psychiatric lingo', i.e. "DISCONTINUATION SYNDROME" to stop Cymbalta (duloxetine).
When talking about a benzodiazapine or an opitate 99% of doctors will say "DRUG WITHDRAWAL".
It has taken a LOT of time for people in general to respect & gain trust in the psychiatric community.
If you can not stop a medication comfortably without other meds or more doctors, it needs ONE TERM.

xanax is definetly nasty.... just came down just from 0.5 mg nightly and is giving me withdrawal (not that bad, maybe because the low dose) and klonopin instead is curing me the cold turkey...i already had weaned me off klonopin and had no adverse reactions, but xanax man, nasty withdrawal....

I take .5mg Clonazepam 1 to 2 times a day (PRN). My body weight is 250+ lbs. Am I at a safe level? Is weight a factor when looking at potential for addiction?

wait till u hear the cocktail im on,i take effentora 600mcg qds,(called fentora over there) diconal 3 tablets tid (which is the very powerful dipipanone 10mg and cyclizine 30mg as a standard tablet) and i was on clonazepam 2mg bid but found it a bit sedating so i switched to 0.5mg qds.all this crap is for 2 herniated disc's in my lower back cant wait to have my op in a few months to be off all tis crap,i imagine its gonna be a long crappy taper,oh the joy. but still better than being in agony.
