I have no problem with artists using autotune. No one is going to sing perfect every time they step up to a mic. They are all pretty good. It's a shame that people compare them to the CD's. The CD's are edited and mixed to sound as perfect as possible!

The only issue I have is the whole loudness war. Louder doesn't mean better. We have volume nobs!!! My CD player can go to 30! Why is it already to loud at 8?!?

@cavaliers60 i reli agree with u... for me i think autotune is like ironing ur clothes..evening out the creases,not tht many creases that is.. plus there are a lot of factors u gotta look at everytime they get up on stage & sing.. being nervous & stuff.. or maybe even their voice is just havin a bad day. some times u see bad performances from them,sometimes u see good ones.. but in some cases like t-pain.. he does it for the effect.. i think he knows very well that he is not an awesome singer..

@alientuts you say you know what good music is but obviously you don't since you judge music 100% by the vocals. anyone who doesn't have knowledge of music theory or an instrument will say the exact same thing. it's what kids do these days. taylor's music is terrible. she can sing alright but that's it. if vocals were everything then you wouldn't have amazing bands with good singers like Dream Theater. or what about some old singers? Did I say the music I listen to is 100% Vocals? I'm sorry but I don't know where your getting that idea. You can never compare Dream Theater to T-Pain...Dream Theater is great all around including vocals...T-pain and pretty much ever other "rapper" out now has a good beat but their lyrics are..disgusting to say the least and their singing is just horrible without their precious auto tune. I love Dream Theater by the way so don't judge me and put words into my mouth.

Although I wouldn't say Dream Theater's vocals are the best. James Labrie is an awesome singer, but his voice isn't the best sounding thing in the world. But I was saying through that, that just because he doesn't sound the most amazing, he's still a good musician along with the rest of the band. and definitely kills t-pain any day.

This being said. Most of the commercial 'singers' and performers are autotuners to the absolute sh*thouse to get their 'perfect' cd out there. Autotune is also used live to fix voices. The song is in a G major scale, then hit the autotuner settings to match and voila. perfect performance...

Robotic is just one of the effects that can be squeezed from autotune with the humanize function...
