  • I'm sorry but it looks boring as fuck. Trailer didn't do its job.

  • beautiful movie!

  • whats the last song of the trailer?

  • what's up wiff that lady's teef??

  • I didn't really like the film much, watched it due to the good ratings on IMDB. The movie leaves u heavy hearted & morose and reminded me that some people are meant to loose always; it may be the reality but I watch a movie to be entertained & this is certainly not one of them

  • With this latest endeavour I believe the director can start calling himself Sir Michael Li, as the film has a very british quality, shows its helmsman in lordly shape, and has many qualities of the finest Oriental cinema (mainly Nipponic).

  • Looks shit

  • You will never know how incorrect you are.

  • @IWearAGreyCardigan Oh yes I do, I watched it. And trust me it was fucking shit.

  • @BiittiHD I have also seen the film. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I disagree with your comment. This film is to my taste. It is not to yours. This is, as they say, no big deal.

Aaah, it's so soothing being able to disagree with someone without having to resort to using the phrase " fucking shit."

  • that film is brilliant :) !

  • Lesley Manville's acting was superb. But I didn't get the general idea of the movie. Well, maybe it's just not my thing.

  • Personally, I think the reason why so many people find this movie boring is because they don't read between the lines. These kind of films is not the ones that will state the obvious to you. It's like a book, you have to think through the information you are given to understand it! To me it was a beautiful film, and it was excellent made. The actors are very talented and the movie is so realistic, how people react with eachothers, etc. Just brilliant.

  • Rubbish. The lead couple is annoying and pretentious

  • i hate this movie me & my brother flipped a coin to see this or source code i lost D: so i went to the back of the movie theater and fell asleep:] there was only 3 other people there anyway. the chairs are actually comfy there:D

  • Horrible trailer weak movie

  • You can so tell that half the comments here are from Brits (not that thats a bad thing) ;)

ANYWAYS, the trailer doesnt look that great, hope the movies better :S

  • An excellent film, just back from seeing it at Film Society and I totally agree with what KleWSide said a week ago, the last scene was pretty heartbreaking.. .

  • well this is so english.

  • Very good film. The last scene was pretty heartbreaking..

  • WHAT DID HE KNOW??? WHAT DID HE KNOW??? i never thought golf could elicit such strong reactions... :P

  • i think 2 hours and 10 minutes of it was too long, if it were a french or spanish film it would be much easier to take it, this way it's just about distanced friends, family centrism, alienation, too much of endless frenetic monologues by the character mary, and the aloofness of the character gerri is frightening, anyhow, i still have a major headache after watching this film, and it's been nearly 6 hours since i've seen it.. wouldn't see again

  • What a touching bipolar film! Happiness and sadness in their most simple and realistic ways. I was so moved by Mary (superbly played by outstanding actress Lesley Manville). She made me shed a tear... No! I cried! Those miserable characters leaning on this simple but beautiful and happy old couple and their good man of a son : a little nest of peace, a haven of light and lucidity in the middle of this small circle of loneliness and hurt. I loved it! I recommend it to all who like the genre.

  • i just seen it, worst movie ever. stay away.

  • This is such a beautiful masterpiece of a film, but like all his work it does not make for easy viewing - watching people crippled by loneliness, misery & despair. I have never cried so much in my life at the cinema, Staunton's small role at the beginning was too much like looking into my own past.

  • Comment removed

  • Lesley Manville gave the best performance of the year and was shamefully snubbed by the Academy, she better win the BAFTA.

  • Oscar snub!

  • @zstiegler: Stevie Wonder, Village Ghetto Land

  • i don't understand what it's about

  • I predict that I will cry endlessly.

  • I thought it was well made, but far too smug for its own good. A film about a sickeningly perfect couple who invite their stereotypically messed up friends around so they can feel condescendingly superior to them. Worth watching, but I certainly didn't find it beautiful as some did.

  • @glazba May I politely point out that I disagree slightly. I don't think the film was smug, but that the whole idea of the film was that the audience are led to think about who's really superior - the smug condescendingly superior family or the messed up friends who probably just need a kick up the bum to get their lives on track.

  • does anyone know the last song in this trailer?

  • I saw this film last week with my girlfriend at a theatre in the UK and it made me extremely sad. My beautiful girl-friend has cancer and I simply do not know what I will do after she will be no more. I sure loved her but after watching this film I love her even more. I made a promise to myself to never let her stop smiling till her last breath. I will never stop her loving and perhaps can love any other woman after she is gone. This a beautiful film, I am glad I watched it.

  • @zaidakhi more beautiful words have never been spoken.

  • @zaidakhi man i cried reading your comment, my girlfriend is perfectly healthy, but she has experienced a bad experience with her mother... the thing is, i am trying to change her idea of life, how beautifull it is and that she deserves all that is good ;3 when i wrote the part of never letting her stop smiling, it really got me there matte, thats exactly what i work for =D

i hope the best for you and her.

  • @zaidakhi

i'm very moved by your love to your gf, Life is a great experience to everybody, but what are we looking for in our Life? please meditate with this question, and you'll find the answer -- LOVE. Love doesn't need physical body to be showed, Love doesn't need "time" to be told. When we understand True Love, our Life is completed.

Meditate with Love, and you'll understand there's no Death, this physical body is not us, we are a pure soul that will never disappear, our journey never end.

  • @zaidakhi Wonderful comment.Yes keep her smiling but keep it real.Let her know that she's giving as much to you as you are to her. She wants to know that she's not just a useless burden. Let her know how you feel and open up truthfully to her, let her encourage you as much as you encourage her. Be real with each other, be in love, be supportive of each other. This is reality at its most raw and you both have the chance to make a connection with each other that most of us only wish could happen.

  • @zaidakhi - I know what I'm talking about because I also have been thru this. Cancer is a bitch!!!!!

  • @zaidakhi stop troll man like im sure u were in the movie with your best friend and after all you gave him a beatyful kiss ...how cute... however im sick of this gay talk like " now i love her even more " urgh -

  • @zaidakhi Sorry mate really am and know how you feel .... i am with you

  • @zaidakhi Marry Her!

  • @zaidakhi Juice fast cures cancer. Also watch "RUN FROM THE CURE - The Rick Simpson Story" on youtube. There is another alternative "ozone therapy". Do some research and watch on youtube.

  • @zaidakhi seen as she is going to die anyway, could you ask here if she wants to take part in a gang bang? No point in beating about the bush huh!

  • @zaidakhi :-(

  • the first of films that i have ever watched was happy-go-lucky. i loved it. i can't wait to watch this film.

  • @dramaqueen465

    "secrets and lies" is brilliant!

  • this looks alright

  • is it just me or does jim broadbent seem like the nicest guy ever !

  • @bunnyfiction09 Not if you've seen him in 'Only Fools and Horses' he doesn't.

  • @lozthegreat1 don't watch it then.

  • Seeing this today!! Can't wait!

  • I also saw this on Monday - a beautiful piece of work. Certainly up there with Leigh's best. Go see it!

  • I saw this yesterday and can honestly say this is a beautiful film. It's a story of love, loneliness, friendship, age and death.

Similar to many of mikes previous films it's fairly plotless but by no means unentertaining, In some ways it reminds me of High Hopes.

It's strong characters and rich dialogue keeps you gripped to the screen, the lack of plot adds to its sense of realism, because lets face it in reality life doesn't always stay on track.

    I definitely recommend watching this.

  • The music is by composer GARY YERSHON, Im off to see this tonight at greenwich picture house followed by q and & with Mike Leigh and cast, Im so excited, and the music I find uplfting, sad, cheery dependant on my mood and how I listen to it XX

  • great, great soundtrack!!!

  • does anyone know what music is playing from 44 onwards?

  • i wanna see this. <3

  • Does anyone know what song starts playing at 1:12? It's beautiful!

  • Cool. Hope to see you at one of the screenings. I know one of them is Oct 11th at 6:45pm.

  • I really really REALLY need to see this

  • I am a volunteer with the Vancouver International Film Festival and Another Year is playing the Festival this year. Another great Mike Leigh movie. Hearing great things about Lesley Manville. Come to the most beautiful city in the world to see this film.

  • @Popgoestheworld1 I'll be going to VIFF too. This is at the top of my list!

  • I think I'm gonna love this movie. The music sounds great.

  • I LOVE the music in this. This is easily one of my most anticipated of the year.

  • agreed...but why the miserable back ground music..typical of his films..

    will check it out...

  • @paulaqr64 It's not supposed to make you sad, and music is art therefore different people interpret it differently. You say sad I hear sympathy, it's a sympathetic music for the moving simple film.

  • Looks amazing
