  • I think I'm gonna' go live in the woods now.

  • i still have that on DVD ♥

  • the best part of the film to me was the score ...it was on a leavel that most independent films naver have. vary well done

  • When dos the MOVIE come out though? :(

  • @Carterxbell It hit the internet on December 14th, 2009, and then was forced by Nintendo to be taken down January 1st, 2010. You may still be able to find torrents of it, though.

  • @RealmEntertainment thanks :)

  • The movie was excellent. I just wish I could have gone to the premier. D: It woulda been neat to at least see the people that made/were in it and all, even if I didn't get to talk to anyone.

It was worth the extremely long wait to see it.

Anyone that was involved in that was extremely fortunate. :D

  • Where and how do you burn this movie onto a DVD?

  • i dont think you can anymore because the contract between this movie and nintendo broke at the end of last year..:(

  • VG Cats online store still sells this, right?

  • i have nooo idea what that is so sorry i dont know

  • I felt like i was back in the beginning days of zelda playing it as a kid. great music!

  • I LOVED the the Music Box music. Holy crap, it made me feel incredibly happy I dunno why lol it was so magnificent!

  • ... weren't really quite as enthusiastic. Sure, they played their part, but it just didn't feel quite as special as Hero of Time :)

  • I just have to say, I first saw the movie on Saturday, and I must say it far outstripped any professional movie for my favorite movie of all time! In some ways, the less-advanced special effects made it so much more special. Perhaps it's because I'm an artist myself, but I felt that everyone's heart was truly in it. I had watched Pirates of the Caribbean two days before I saw Hero of Time (PotC was my previous all-time fave), and thinking back, it almost felt like the actors in PotC...

  • i just had to go get a blanket because this gave me so many chills!

  • AND i cried.

  • Any idea when full soundtrack is up for download? Official The Hero of Time website promised more news about release of soundtrack on december 15, 2009. So far no new info. Every piece you got up at "EPIC MUSIC!" section is jaw dropping.. I can't wait until I have full soundtrack! Sir, you are my hero.

  • @Mii85 It will be up on the 21st. I apologize for the mis-communication.

  • @RealmEntertainment: Thank you for answering. Can't Wait! Cheers.

  • 1:16 - Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka

  • You Guys Know you can "Watch"

Legend of Zelda: Hero Of Time

    On Dailymotion right?

Dailymotion is not as popular as YouTube but they do support long lenght videos.

  • wow setsu, i first heard some of your music when i played SCGM Dx 3 and i just love The Fade. Knowing that you did the soundtrack for Hero Of Time makes me wanna see it all that much more. Hope i comes somewhere near where i live at some point cause i wouldn't care how far i'd hafta travel....I'D GO TO THE MOVIE XD

  • I hope you guys realize what gods you have become by working hard on this. I mean, it was awesome anyway, but this music is wonderful, too. This...this is just gxdfhsdfhsdfhs <33333333 iluSOMUCH.

  • lol Thanks. I'm glad you enjoy it! =D

  • Correction to my previous comment...

Music box is a wonderfully composed interpretation of the melody known as "Song of Storms," from OoT. It's truly a well constructed musical arrangement that inspires the heart of a Zelda fan such as myself. (Forgive my initial enthusiasm)

  • These songs make me want to nut in my pants!

  • I'm not quite sure I wanted to know that. >.>

    lol

  • why not?! lol jk

  • you DID want to know that.

  • Okay, I guess I did. =p

  • hehe! I did here the Song of time in 2.21 XD

  • I want to se the movie XD

but is Zelda's lullaby (the melodi) in the movie? I am just curious ;P

And were can i listen whole song's ? I really like the songs clip here ^___^

  • Actually, yes. Zelda's Lullaby makes a number of appearances throughout the score. There's at least one part where it comes out into the open, and others where it's worked into the rest of the original music.

  • Yey xD Zelda lullaby is in the movie XD I love hers lullaby... xD

  • Excellent Music! Very nice job

  • You can see your fanfilm in different cinemas...

did you ask nintendo or Shigeru Miyamoto before? o.o

Hm.. in my opinion the movie isn't that good sorry^^" Some parts have absolutely nothing to do in a Zelda-Movie. I wish Peter Jackson would make it!XD I'm sorry^^ I just want to say: I don't like the movie, put the Soundtrack is really good^^ I love the Music Box .^^ (sorry for the bad english)

  • You're entitled to your opinion, AND you don't have to worry about offending me. I only composed the music; I didn't make the movie.

However, considering that the majority of the workload was done by a small handful of people (namely Joel and David), I have to say they deserve mega props for accomplishing what they did with what little they had.

  • Will we be allowed to make derivated works from the soundtrack (AMV, remixes...)? Like with a by-nc Creative Commons licence?

  • That's an interesting question, although to be honest, since we couldn't exactly copyright the score (given that it contained some, though minimal, unoriginal melodic content), I imagine there'd be no issue with doing that. As far as BMB is concerned, I don't know what they'd think, but as the composer, I surely wouldn't mind. I'd actually find it interesting to see what people do with it.

  • Ok, thanks for your answer! I hope they will accept, because the music is very inspiring. ;) I'll ask the question to BMB Finishes when the soundtrack will come out then. =)

  • Beautiful. Simply beautiful. You could be the next John Williams.

  • I think that's giving me a bit TOO much credit, but thank you. =p

  • What software?

This is just so awesome and epic!!!!

  • I use the host program Nuendo 4 and for my orchestral work, I use a VSTi MIDI plugin called "Edirol Orchestral".

  • Thanks a Million George :) The reason i thank you by now is that i finaly figured out the program... its totaly awesome... if you'd check my channel you can hear an unfinshed version of a thing for a coming film...'

    Thanks again :E

  • were can u buy teh soundtrak ?

  • The soundtrack has not been released yet. BMB Finishes will release the soundtrack in time (it's up to them, actually, not me).

I'm guessing (though I'm not certain) that the soundtrack will be released around the time the film gets publicly released after the HoT Spot screenings.

  • so u mean teh HOT SPOTS r juz teh beginnin ?

  • They plan to screen the film in a few more cities before making a public release. That's what the HoT Spots are about. It's a system where people vote for their city and the votes get tallied up to determine where the film will be screened next.

  • Awesome

  • this is an awesome soundtrack and i cant wait to see the film itself. this has a dream come true for me =]

lol all we need now is a Legend of Zelda musical and we're pretty much set. (or am i the only one whose thought a LoZ musical would be the sweetest thing ever)

  • if your thinking of that then do it. no better way to experience it than to make it yourself :)

  • Dude I agree a Zelda Musical would kick ass!

  • where'd he get the navi shirt? xD anyway, good music.

  • I really enjoy your music here--it's epic and beautiful. When will the sountrack be released for our listening pleasure? repeating the 2:30 trailer to listen to it gets old after the fifth play, haha. ;-p

  • The soundtrack's release is entirely in their hands. I'm not sure when it will be released, but what I figure is that they'll probably release it around the time that they publicly release the film.

  • Seems like a cool soundtrack... but I'm still unsure about this whole "Hero of Time" thing...

  • Well truthfully it couldn't be bad as if hollywood got a hold of the Zelda series(Have you ever seen DBZ evolution?). And they can't help that they have a low budget.

  • I was afraid no OoT music would be quoted in the film for some obscure copyright or creative reasons... I'm glad to hear that some themes are in there.

The tracks sound good, looking forward to seeing it all mesh with the film itself.

  • This is surprisingly well done. I'm glad the music didn't turn out generic. The song of storms piece brought tears to my eyes. Are there any other Ocarina of TIme compositions?

  • Most musical references in the score are Legend of Zelda general melodies, but there are 3 from OoT that make an entrance here and there, Song of Storms being one of them.

  • 1:24 is the best part of this video, it sounds amazing

  • Will this soundtrack be available on itunes?

  • I don't think they've decided how it will be distributed yet, but the soundtrack will indeed be released in time.

  • cool thx

  • MUST. HAVE. TSHIRT!

  • I bought it at VG Cats' online store. They should still have it up, too.

  • This is really great! the music is so moving. :D I can't wait to hear how it turns out in the movie.

btw are you going to release a soundtrack on cd for people to buy? I would buy it in a heartbeat. :D

  • The soundtrack WILL be released. However, it's not up to me when, though I figure it will likely be around the time the film finishes its screenings and gets publicly distributed.

Thanks for the input. I'm excited as well.

  • I have just one thing to say: just great stuff! I sincerely hope that the movie in itself will be as good as this!

But I have a question: your music is so good that I would be really surprised if it were your first composition. Any way to listen to your other stuff while waiting for the complete soundtrack of HoT?

  • Comment removed

  • The music is well written - congratulations! Can't wait to see what'll it'll be like in the movie. Also, is this a real orchestra or a sample library?

One note - out of what I heard in the final showdown excerpt I really didn't feel much emotion brought out by the music compared to the last battle music from the game itself. It sounded pretty standard, not too special; I hope the full track isn't so. :)

  • It was all composed virtually with the Edirol Orchestral VSTi (and the EastWest Symphonic Orchestra VSTi as well, for a couple instruments).

Actually, David Blane picked what parts of the pieces I designated for the video, and the portion he chose from "The Final Showdown" was one its "down" moments. The actual track is much more intense and flowing. I had originally hoped he'd put some of the good parts of that track in there, but the idea of this vid is to make you want to hear more. =)

  • The soundtrack is really good. I like the way you compose the music. It reminds me a little bit to the music of John Williams.

Next to that, I am very happy about the song of storms. You really put it to a nice soundtrack.

    Keep up the good work!

  • Thanks. Actually, while most of the reference tracks they gave me to give me a feel for the mood were Howard Shore's work, I try to take after John Williams' style while incorporating the flavor of James Newton Howard. I just love how both of them compose music, and they both are my inspiration.

Thank you for the compliment. I'm glad you like it. I'm eager to see how this all came together myself.

  • I also love those two composers. Maybe if you work hard enough and build up great experience, then you will be the next John Williams or Howard Shore.

Goodluck with everything and I hope to hear more about you.

  • Yes I got the impression from Howard Shore and the Lord of the Rings.

Marvelous! I'm a composer myself and my God your composition is fantastic! Is it for sale/download?

  • It hasn't been released yet. They'll probably release it when the movie gets on a public venue. I do not know when that will be or whether or not it'll be for sale (though I hope not, personally).

Thank you, though. It's always good to hear from a fellow composer. =)

  • Bloody brilliant! I'm glad you included the Song of Storms. I was afraid there might not be any melodies from the games in this for copyright reasons, but this is looking/sounding great!

  • *pant, pant* Holy shit, I need totake a breather! This is by far the greatest movie soundtrack that I have heard in a long-ass time. I absolutely ADORE how you put in subtle Zelda-like tunes into the original score, such as a chimed "Song of Storms" and a choir vocal of "Saria's Song". This is a gorgeous soundtrack, and it seems that it will be one of the defining features of The Hero of Time.

  • Correction on jy part: That was NOT Saria'ssong, it was the "Song of Time".

  • This really did come out marvellous. You hadn't released much music in comparable genre in a while, and you've really been improving in your classical work. My hopes for the atmosphere of the film just shot up another level...

And, I know, I know, but familiarity breeds fondness - great treatment of the windmill theme. Quinn's vocals are excellent and very well used. Overall very evocative work, very much your trademark ^-^

  • Thank you. I greatly appreciate that. Also, many pieces from this score had to be redone a number of times, each of them coming out better than the last. BMB Finishes were indeed trying to get the most refined music for their film, which to me shows their passion for the project.

  • like seriously, it's gorgeous!

  • i completely love your rendition of the song of storms

  • u can tell its gonn abe great with epic music such as this.

  • im so glad i will be able to see it :D

  • As much as I like the idea of hot spots, it still is limiting the viewership of the film. Are they considering dvd or is that not even an option?

  • After they do the screening tour, they will make it publicly available via the website. The HoT Spots are only to determine what cities will be visited on the tour.

  • Is there a set date when the DVD will be available in the website? I want to see it, but I probably can't make it to the tour, unless it's coming to Oregon...

  • No news on that one yet. I'll probably find out around the same time you guys do.

  • You know, teasing us like this and then if you yank this movie. It might end very, very badly for both of us :D, Bad for us (the crazed fans) because our heads would litterly explode. And then bad for you because we would haunt you like a poe for the rest of eternity :D. Awesome work here! I wanted to cry when I heard the "music box"

  • Thanks. I don't think you need to worry. All of us (more especially them, who invested far more into the film than I did) didn't do all this work to turn around and not release it.

It's just a question of when they're going to.

  • Great!

  • amazing...

I cant wait for this movie!

  • This is really good stuff, man. I'll be honest, I've questioned the project of the film itself (I'm glad it's being made, though), but this soundtrack has some of the best Zelda-inspired bits of music I've heard. I like that it's not all remixes, but the motifs are there. Even when I can't spot anything game-related, it's quality music.

    5 stars. :]

  • I think I've fallen in love with your T-shirt, where did you get it? XD

  • When is this GOD Damn movie coming out?

  • Your guess is as good as mine. It's not up to me. I'm just as looking forward to it as everyone else.

  • This is going to be an awesome movie! I CAN'T WAIT!

  • This is absolutely amazing. This will definitely be available for purchase I hope? Because I am so there.

  • The details of how it will be released are still undecided, but I can tell you it'll be up to what Blane and Joel decide. It's out of my hands.

But it is definite that the soundtrack will be released.

  • WOW! This is VERY VERY IMPRESSIVE! And very professionally done!!

    Cant wait for the movie!!

  • very awesome stuff! I cannot wait to get the soundtrack to hear the rest of it!!

  • mmmm soooo awesome! ^^

  • I really wanna get my hands on the soundtrack when it comes out! Awesome music!

  • Thanks. I'm not quite sure how they plan to release the soundtrack, but they'll make it known when the decision is made.

  • what was the name of the song in the beggining of the very first zelda movie trailer, or do you even know?

  • The 2006 trailer? No idea whatsoever. I didn't actually start scoring the film until July of 2007, and at that time, I enjoyed the first trailer too.

  • ah, ok, everyone on the forum's been wondering that for the longest time.

i'm excited to get my zelda movie done, might be filming today ;)

but, yet again, thanks, and i enjoyed your little montage of the music.

  • I love the music box. Sounds like a the windmill theme but reminds me of the "Ice Dance" theme from edward scissor hands. lol, strange combination.

  • Stunning

  • nice
