questo è del 71..nursery cryme tour..al piper a roma,ho il bootleg...phil ha dovuto coprire il buco per via della corrente andata via..semplicemente mostruoso.grande funk dal vivo!
Indeed one of the many "One handed drum solos" that was done by Phil whilst the other guys were changing guitars and tuning up etc. (Or Gabriel changing costume! lol)
This sounded like one of those show distractions that Genesis often did to let the guitarists get their odd tunings in before the next song starts. The guitar strumming at the end probably wasn't to try to join in, rather to signal to Phil that they were ready so he sort of just fades the solo out.
@PianoManKD This is definitely NOT being played one handed, maybe at the start for all of 4 bars, But he is hitting a hihat and snare at the same time.......And the various doubles and triplets at 1.20
@semajttam Sorry man, but it is being played one handed...The hi hat work you hear is done with his foot. Trust me. And even the most basically drummer can play triplets with one hand...It's all in the wrist my friend, all in the wrist.
@PianoManKD Listen to 1:16 to 1:30. If you think that is being played with one hand you are a fool. I not only teach drums but I also have very fast hands having played in drum corps before my professional music career. Phil Collins is a very smooth drummer and does have chops even Cobham, Mangini, Carl Palmer and Buddy Rich could not play thirty=second notes at that speed with one hand.
this has NOTHING TO dDOOOOw WITH "MUSICAL BOX"!!! (Genesis)
WhYyyyyy are all the photos of Phil wt. a Microphone in his hand??? [not ProMark drum sticks]
is he a DRUMMER?
or a SInGer?
o.k I know he is BOTH!, but...
this is NOTHING...compared to his drumming with "Brand X"!!!
as 1 who met/ "interviewed" Him @ end of the Brand X USA Tour in Philly... Sept. '79.
He told me I should listen to Tony Williams - drummer of Miles Davis.
the good ones borrow
the GREAT ones steal!

All the trademark PC drum patterns. Nice little filler.

Impeccable! Phil Collins has one of the greatest grooves! Much like Bill Ward of the same era.
