The way I saw it; M.T.P started the journey carrying all the burdens through life she can't let go of, and the train ride for the most part showed her (in a sense) remembering all the past things in her life in various ways. In the end she follows the little flying insect beyond all her problems, and in turn "transforms" into something more. She goes from pupa to butterfly and let's go of the things that hekd her back so she can become the real her that was meant to be.
he animation technique was great but the story was quite bland. so it was about a schizophrenic woman who becomes a moth in the end. sure there was symbolism involved -- that's probably why it won in cannes. but the symbolism so saturated the film it made the story uninteresting. sad but we always mistake ambiguity for something profound.

Too many metaphors. Majority wants enjoyment, not deep thinking till the last bit. Movies alot have metaphors but their makers primarily consider a sensible storyline. Since stop-motion is still a very intrigueing art, it's quality in dextrity is more appreciated than the storyline it has seeing the YT comments.
@lovergirl090 It is just waaayyy toooooo deeeeeeep for the general population. Especially "Y" gens. If you were to broaden your cultural exposure and understanding, it might help to decipher the plethora of metaphor filling the video. Consider it a representation of lost innocence and transformation.
Muddy shoes=dirty sole etc....
If you just dont have the breadth of culture, blame "Every child left behind" educational policy, and the parrot educational method.
@morseson I'm sure you can explain your interpretation of the piece without talking down to people and just sounding like a jerk. Fact is, its a great film that can be appreciated on all levels. Some people enjoy it for the animation and the surreal experience of watching it. Some people enjoy interpreting its deeper meanings. It will mean different things to different people, which makes it worthy of civil discussion
@jode94 Oh I don't know, I found morsesons muddy shoes = dirty sole insight particularly incisive. And also extremely funny, if a terrible pun is what they consider an example of the deep meaning they're spouting off about.
@robenestobenz hahaha yea it would seem he truly found the deeper meaning of the film that the rest of us peons just failed to grasp. He's truly the pinnacle of 'cultural exposure'.
Best animation I have ever seen with possibly the worst ending I have ever witnessed. That may be a little strong, but when the camera panned down past the trees I was thinking "don't roll credits, please don't roll the credits" and then it did. Fantastic beginning, spectacular middle, mediocre end. The story made sense up until the last bit. Damn. I'll stop ranting now.
@tg01millmorer Perhaps the creators wanted an ending that's wasn't so obvious? I can see them doing so to give the viewer their own interpretation of the story... But hey, just my opinion :s
I believe the ending is actually better than you think. She was dead. She was in limbo trying to take her entire life's possessions with her. The others were dead too, but they were corrupt and so could not escape the demons. She had a chance to leave because she was a good person and she was able to escape the train, but she had to leave all the baggage from her life behind in order to run. Then she traveled through the tunnel and headed towards the light. Happy ending.
Agreed, I over reacted a little when I first watched it. On reflection, the ending really isn't as bad as I thought it was. I just wanted the animation to carry on because its so damn good
This little piece is brilliant. I watched it alone one night after finding out I had celiac disease and this seemed to tell the complete story of my life. The hoses were my intestines and the tennis pro was the medical proffesion that almost killed me in their ignorance of this disease.
Lovely peices, seem like a bad dream Tutli having and trying to escape all the heavy burden she carried in the reality. Very touching, and lets support original video! =D

MmeTutli Putli has died, shed all her worldly possessions/baggage; goes through a spiritual purging; loses all association with humanity, and heads out of the universe like a moth. Last scene is what it looks like looking up from a grave. I don't know what the NBFC did but at least you got one. In US only Jews in Hollywood can "create" cinema - total junk, that is. This American woulda never seen or heard of this movie if I didn' live across the river from Canada.

@RakkiBunny actually this short film is revolutionary because they actually use real eyes, they mount them via adobe after effects

For those who cannot grasp the meaning with a little study:
I would suggest that you avoid religion as well. It will only make you a more ignorant tool, manipulated for profit and power.
