The band gradually expanded to take up most of the field in a large circle while playing a longer version of Krypton than their current abridged stands cheer. So yes, the Carolina Band played Krypton before uga and marched the circle drill before tenn(though im sure no one has executed as elegantly as tenn).
the reason the Redcoats play it is because at a game back in the 80's...the band played Krypton in a halftime show and the football team heard it on the field and was inspired to play better...they were losing at halftime and came out and beat the crap out of whoever they were playing...if my memory serves me right...i think it was Auburn...so...now...UGA has made it a tradition to play it every fourth quarter.
