Got this on dvd- I agree that The Intercessor is the best, the others have slowly paced, quite tame and predictable storylines; don't get me wrong- the acting and look of the stories are fine, the problem is that the subject matter hasn't been properly updated from the (turn of the century) source material- no wonder that it was only shown once in this country. Anybody into this sort of thing would be advised to watch the delightful Woman in Black and any of the BBC Ghost Stories.
June Brown must be one of the most underrated actresses in Britain. Everyone knows her from Eastenders, but she is capable of so much more. I think she has the most amazing, beautiful dark eyes.
The other lady is the lovely Joanna David who I believe is married to the actor Edward Fox.
This is just amazing. I´ve been looking after this film for something like 23 years! I watched it on TV with my brother in the 80´s when i was about 8 yrs age and ever since it´s been haunting me and my memories. Truly it seems to look a lot like "The Woman in Black" which is one of my favorite Ghost-Movies also. Actually i watched an old movie from 1978 called "Dominique" the other week, which also made me think of "The Lady´s Maid´s bell". Thank you!
no worries,it took me years also too track this down.still pretty scary.if u like this type of ghost story check out warning to the curious, treasure of abbot thomas, lost hearts, the signal man,i have one or 2 other clips on my page u could look at..cheers
Thanks for the tips. Yes, i am indeed into this type of ghost stories, and have always been. When i first tracked down ´The Woman in Black´ some five years ago, i thought it would be this one. But that came out in 1989, so later i realised the years of making didn´t match. It´s probably because of the "Shades of Darkness" late DVD-release last December (i was very lucky when it went up as a further tip on another movie i searched on) that i´ve been having such a hard time finding it.
