  • fantastic version of a very cool berry song.

  • I saw Geraint with Disorder on the Border at Moreton Tea Rooms. That was before I had seen this gig, if I had I would have knelt at his feet. NC4OM do this song in E, too old to make G

  • SUPER MERCI

  • Andy Fairweather-Lowe with the waistcoat

  • I love Gerraint. Looks like Micky Gee on guitar behind Dave.

  • cant fine Leyla,, love it and seen him here in sweden singing my name,,

  • There was more to my reply but I'm not typing it again. You'll have to take my word for it, he's a slag

  • This the second time I've been contacted regarding my comment. It's not Dave Edmunds is it ? I met him once. At the time he was one of my hero's. I found him extremely arrogant and sarcastic. It was back stage at a concert at The Venue in Victoria London My uncle was his minder. If he spoke to me like that now I'd humiliate him. But at the time I was young and because of my Uncle I didn't want cause any problems for him. I wouldn't have any qualms about that now. I can't remember what was said.

  • @Carpetlay1 Thanks for responding to my question on Dave Edmunds,at least I think it was me you replied to. Its a pity some stars have a bad attitude to people who make them famous.

  • @Carpetlay1 oh dear, difficult rock star shock ?!?!? whatever next ? groupies ? get a grip you soft twat and grow a pair,he's probably got fed up of divs like you wanting a bit of him

  • Same pleasure from listening. Thank you ALL. BTW, I also thought that Clifton Chemeer was good. Geraint Watkins excellent. BUT, I do not care who was better. I just loved the presentation and ANYONE can see the reaction of the audience. ENJOYMENT.

  • Geraint Watkins what a musician absolutely fantastic.

Oh and Dave's not bad either :)

  • Best Version of this song! Well my favorite version anyway.

  • Excellent :) Go Go Go !!

  • On the side of Geraint's accordion near his right hand looks like an guitar effects pedal fitted to the accordion, what is it any one know?

  • Fantastic singer and musician. Its a shame Dave Edmonds is such a horrible cunt

  • @Carpetlay1 Out of curiosity could you tell me why Dave is a C*nt. I don't know him so I don't have an opinion.I'm not being facetious, I genuinely would like to why you don't like him as a person.

  • Best version!!!

  • The greatest rocker this country has ever produced, a man who tries to stick to the original concept of rock and roll, even going to Sun studios to try and capture the original sound and feeling of great music, keep on rocking Dave.

  • Cant help it. HAD to listen again to these MUSICIANS. Thank you.

  • great version but Jonnie Allan's is the best

  • @britladd .........Ok Jonnie Allan's good but he gets the lyrics all wrong

  • CAN SOMEONE THAT KNOWS TELL THE REST OF US WHAT BAND MEMBERS HERE HAVE PASSED ON. THANKS ALOT THIS HAS TO BE ONE OF THE MOST UPBEAT AND UPLIFTING VIDEOS ON HERE..... I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO BE THERE..... STAN AILSHIE WEST MONROE LOUISIANA

  • @NoLaCountryFan1969 only Micky Gee. Allthough in the last few years a

number of Welsh Rock and rollers have left this reality.

  • Came back to see all of you again. At 75 plus after listening your music it is ringing in my head and I feel the joy of when I was younger. Thank you. I shall come back again to listen to you all.

  • its a good version but it has to be chuck berry all the way for me!!

  • Absolutely brilliant!!!

  • Great music good job

  • is good

  • I used to be the worlds' biggest Dave Edmunds fan; altho' I've shifted more towards Nick Lowe recently (probably 'cos he's still bringing out new stuff!)

But watching this...I can remember why I always thought Dave was brilliant!

And he's not looking bad, either!!!

    Liz

  • Ya just gotta get up & dance to this, aint ya

  • Hats off to Geraint Watkins on the squeeze-box ...anyone remember his Balham Alligators?

  • @theclarkey100 Yes, remember them well. Have the LP's too. He is awesome. Saw him, Dave Edmunds & Billy Brember in Sweden a few years ago. Super!

  • Where is the es 35 Gibson?

  • blows johnny allen out ov the water!

  • That thing on Dave's guitar is the Hip-Shot b-bender.

  • @SconeMason

    explain please!

  • good old welsh rockin boogie boys,,,keith..

  • Deana3451. Best song ever.

  • what's that thing he got on his guitar?

  • @Jeddystardog Its a capo. It changes the key the guitar is being played in.

  • @fuzzytnth3 sorry mate I mean the thing down on the butt of the body..is it just excess black tape or some other attachment the gitty whizzes know about ??

  • @Jeddystardog doh see what you mean. To be honest I haven't a scooby on another youtube clip of Dave playing "I knew the bride" you get a better view of it. I'm guessing but it does look like there is a cable going into it and weirdly what looks like a small mic pointing towards the bridge, maybe a Piezo mic perhaps?. Dave's Tele there are two cables one in the normal position but also a cable connected into the black thingy. Fender make a Deluxe Power Stratocaster which uses a piezo mic + HSS

  • This runs the Johnny Allen version pretty close!!!!

  • Deana3451. Yabba dabba doo, great song.

  • Woo Hoo - brilliant !

  • heard a great song of his on the sopranos called 'take me for a little while' but can't seem to find it anywhere. hope somebody uploads it at some point.

  • Deana3451. Fantastic song

  • Deana3451. Great song ,love it.

  • unsung legends with even greater unsung pedigrees!!!!

  • great stuff! DE all time hero, but here most taken from Jonnie Allan

  • Deana3451. That is not Kenny Aronoff on the drums ,same bald head.

  • Deana3451 isn,t he just Georgeous.

  • In my opinion the greatest British rock and roller ever, he destroys that phoney Cliff Richards who climbed on Elvis's coat tails and was dragged to stardom, you have only to watch a performance to see he is not living rock and roll, just faking it. Well, Sir Cliff Richard says it all doesn't it?

  • Better than Elvis' version!

  • Micky Gee inspired me to learn playing guitar! Hope you carry on playing in heaven!

    R.I.P !!!!

  • Some great legends here including the best Mr Micky Gee. miss the man .

  • bloody brill!

  • What i wouldn't give to have been there that night, absolutely amazing

  • Dave Edmunds is the beating heart of rock-and-roll in this world.

  • Just great!

  • THANK YOU AGAIN MY MUSICIANS for your GIFT to me. My deepest RESPECT, including Mr. A-F-L.

  • You can not even dare mention the vomit moaning infesting the airwaves today.

This is absolute "good times" music.

  • Love Dave Edmonds

  • en mi tierra con ese acordión hacen un tipo de música muy linda llamada vallenato y lo acompañan con guaro! acá hacen rock con lo acompañan con cócteles! la música... expresión del alma!

  • Feel Good Music! Thanks boys!

  • this is great music !

  • The accordion player is Geraint Watkins, the best thing to come out of Wales since, well Dave Edmunds, really.

    Pip pip

  • @STILLAVRIL1 So Geraint Watkins is his name, the guy is fucken wicked.

  • It's a great Chuck Berry rocker - love the song!

  • dave edmunds, wears the pants, he is THE man. but that guy playing the solos (i can't remember the instrument il remember it in a minute) just doesn't work!

  • @camerooniepooniepoo You mean the box shaped, bellows-driven free-reed aerophone? It´s known amongst other names as squeesebox or in non-english languages dragspel (swedish), trekkspill (norwegian), harmonika (french). The correct name in english would be accordion and the guy is an accordionist.

  • Fucking Ay..,....."A song where the singer is only co-equal hero to the land itself, where he makes the long journey from the land of dreams and imagination to the land of guilt and reality" as the great Dave Marsh said. Brilliant in so many ways by this imaginary American as Greil Marcus said of the Beatles. So freaking cool.

  • @tinytina789 well that is weird...

  • He should've promised not to sing these local pub style songs.

  • @suburbansoftrocker ha ha, so you have no opinion, just regurgatating shit you`ve read.

    Classic Dave Edmunds. True rocker.

  • @lagerandwine No that was my own factual opinion actually. Surely Dave Edmund has better songs than this.

  • Just love Dave Edmunds. Does he still tour U.K.

  • THANK YOU for letting me share YOUR pleasure in this GREAT MUSIC.

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW !!!!!!!!

  • crikey...............brilliant fun.

  • lol like a cattle drive...........

  • Fucking brilliant...............

  • this makes me feal so happy :)

    yeah, Good old music!

  • accordionist player is geraint Watkins formerly of the balahamma alligators. but is well known on the rock and roll circuit from Dave edmunds to shakin Stevens

  • Who is the accordian player?

  • Dave - 65 y.o. - and still rocking - simply fantastic !

  • Andy Fairweather lowe is amazing

  • Andy Fairtweather lowe is amazing

  • get down

  • Great playing ! I love the beat !

  • Lo escucho , lo vuelvo a escuchar y cuanto más lo escucho más impresionante me parece. ¡Increible música!

¡Se me caen las lágrimas con ese acordeón!

  • Great song. Original music is The Wabash Cannonball.

  • What a band! Cameraman doesn't seem to have much interest in Pino though!

  • For the record this concert was recorded in 1998 for the BBC a charity gig I believe. All the band were Welsh and consisted of Dave Edmunds (vocals, guitar) Andy Fairweather Low (Guitar Vocals) Pino Palladino (Bass) Micky Gee (Guitar and Vocals) Geraint Watkins (Keyboards) Henry Spinetti(Drums) Aran Amun(Drums). All top class musicians with massive CV`s what a line up!!!

  • Wished I'd been there to enjoy this great track; Imagine the sound at the O2! Regarding the drums: Look carefully! Theres two of them...no wonder the back beat is so solid. The sound on this submission has been enhanced in a studio post production. Each of the performers is at one with their role in this particular line up and it rates as one of the Top Ten submissions made to You Tube. Edmunds YOUR a still a BIG star!

  • Dave Edmunds...this is a great cover...but the best one yet is Steel Claw...plz do that song on your live concerts! ;)

  • The band is bloody great... but the drummer is out of this world ..he powers the band out of this world..that a guy has to be one of the best drummers in the world.

  • From start to finish a great track brilliantly delivered. Thundering Telecasters & a band wholly tight & on message with each other. DE delivers the lyrics of this tricky song with such applom. Anybody pls know where this was filmed & when?

  • Excellent...

  • I love the way the Accordion give the song a Cajun feel!

  • Dave Edmunds Mickey Gee and Gerrant Watkins (Accordion) They can all be heard on a lot of Shakin' Stevens records RIP Mickey Gee one of the best Telecaster players ever

  • true rock!!

  • wow......thats so good....

  • I love Dave Edmunds and his Band, listen to this nearly every night. Great Band!!!!!

  • Been listening to Dave's "Dance Dance Dance" on my iPod for days; Mississippi mud never touched her fingers, California sand was in her hair" I really Love that song. Can 't get enough of it. I grew up with rock n roll beacause my father is a Rock n roll fan; Chuck Berry is his hero. And Promised land of course is a Chuck Berry song

  • Ain't they having a good time

  • @hollopop

Do me a favour and post the rest of the concert.

I have tried for the last hour to get ready for a night out but can't help hitting the replay button.

Looks like another night in then!

  • nice how he covers johnny allan instead of chucks original

  • Some ending..the drummer brings it to a solid end...Yah Wow..sums it up..

  • The band is just Ace, and built on one of the best and solid drummers around... play it again and just listern to the drummer...WOW... thats power.. the only way you can build a great band is by starting with a great drummer.. and this guy is great it is the same reason the Stones are so good..

  • You are so right about the drummer - but the whole band is SO good. Micky Gee, sadly missed.

  • Com 'on boys and girls come and get ya some REAL Rock 'N Roll!!!

  • I've met Deave Edmunds. He and Nick Lowe play "Tiffs" in Edinburgh where I shot their photographs.

    Nice guys!

  • I did too, backstage at the old Odeon! God, that was a while ago!

For anybody interested in Edmunds stuff, I recently came across a Dave Edmunds CD that was only released in Canada but can be downloaded from Amazon called "Hand Picked: Musical Fantasies". It's unusual in that half of it is instrumental but it's worth checking out.

  • Just can't get enough of good OLD Rock N Roll

  • Nice to see Micky Gee in a good video..RIP..Micky

  • dave left out line about charlotte and rock hill

  • Go Dave just out of sight...some gig...brilliant squeeze box player really fine..thanks for posting

  • Just Brilliant

  • Best cover of this song ever

  • That accordion ain't no random addition. Listen to Johnnie Allen's REAL Cajun version of this song to hear where they got the idea from. Don't get me wrong though - this is a real monster of a performance. I love it.

  • the accordion rocks! wow!

  • Dave is the king!

  • Great !! love the accordion. Does Dave look a bit like Mike Yarwood?

  • Excellent. Love Dave's voice, and the Cajun squeeze box is an interestingly perky addition.

  • great song-shit version. Flashy lights and too many guitars

  • the accordian was there to put a little cajun feel to the song ,,frigging fantastic song and version

  • Great live version. Not so sure about the accordian though. Wasn't in Dave's original recording. (They say the definition of a Gentleman is he who knows how to play an accordian, but decides not to.)

  • Dave Edmunds is one of the last "young" real Rock' n' Roller.

  • I just wish he'd tour again. Love it

  • greeeeeeeeeeeeeat

  • is he still actuell?????? this is my favorite song in my car,but i`m 54 years old and it is great and i`m from austria

  • .. und nimmst daunn des Lenkradl owe und tanzt an Boogie dazu ? imo better than the elvis or the chuck berry-version. dave's one of the gorgeoust guit-players I've ever seen. Listen to his *sabre dance* - da schnallst ab.

  • Hab ich gemacht,ist echt geil,danke,

ich meine das "listen" und nicht das lenkrad,

    lach

  • Great track. Thanks for this one!

  • Fairweather-Low

  • I was at this gig! You can see the back of my head at 2.08!! I'll never forget I went to the loo and came out having missed most of the Sabre Dance. D'oh!

  • When and where was this show?

  • At the Cardiff International Arena (CIA) in Cardiff, Wales, UK. I would think the show must have been around 1998 or 1999? I can't remember now. A great night though! Two drummers: Arun Ahmun and Henry Spinetti. Geraint Watkins on keyboards and accordion, Mickey Gee, Andy Fairweather Lowe, Dave Edmunds on geetars and Pino Paladino on bass (now with the Who and John Meyer Trio). An all-Wales lin-up!

  • Thanks for the great info.

  • @niacedc; Wed 14 Jan 1998 -

  • You spoiled my enjoyment of the video! I was too busy watching for the back of your head! But, boy, it was worth it! Quite possibly the best back of any head I've ever seen! What a track, though, as is Sabre Dance. Get control of your bladder, dude!

  • SUPER!!!!

  • Yes it's Andy...EC must have given him the night off !!

  • All hail Dave Edmunds!

  • Dave's the real thing, and always been.

  • That`s what music is all about, Great sound,

does anyone know what he`s doing now a days ?

  • great!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This was seriously sweet! I love the feel. however i would have liked to have heard maybe only one or two accordian solos and instead let the guitars have a shot.

  • My ears have a 35-year love affair with Dave Edmunds. Aural heaven.

  • really great !! Dave, Mickey and Geraint !!

Is this from a DVD I can buy ?

  • Absolutely packed with soul and feeling!
