Thule 480 Traverse Roof Rack Installed on Subaru Legacy 4 Door by Rack Outfitters

Looking at the Thule roof rack kits....for one of my Kia's. I have 2012 Sportage and Soul. Both have flat roofs. I don't want the rack on full time, just something I can put on for periodic usage. Vacations to put my roof top carrier on...haul plywood...stuff like that. Are these systems designed for easy off and on? Will removing it like I plan on degrade its ability to perform from all the reinstalling? Will it mar the finish on the car...either the roof top or door sill area?
