When I first heard this on the album, I was like "WTF?" But then I saw them live, and this song completely rocks live. Seriously, anytime Jim busts out the V guitar, the song is going to kick all kinds of ass.
I'm curious as to how people originally took to Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust." That was a total style departure from their previous stuff. The Dead's "Shakedown Street"? I know that was not received well... but as a live song, it held up pretty well.
I thought exactly the same thing, with the Queen comparison that is. The first time I heard this song I was like wow this is fucked. Now I rock it everywhere. It's hilarious and just a good song.
So many people shit on the song. Like, I read reviews saying how bad the song was. So when I finally picked up the album, I didn't see what all the fuss was about. This is just a fun and light hearted song. It sounds even better live! Definitely not the worst song on the album.
I love this song. some people say that it wasnt good at first then grew on to them, but I liked it the first moment I heard it. I like how it's so different from the rest of the album, too. It shows that they are able to work with different music styles.
you should try forming your own opinions instead of regurgiataing what you've read on pitchfork or any other music forum. its a fucking enjoyable song with a some badass guitar riffs. it's not trying to be completely serious, lighten up.
i was there too! it was so sweet to see our hometown boys giving back in there normal humble way. my morning jacket deserves all the accolades the have, are and will receive!

Try a Marshall, and also try listening to "TV Dinners", "Got Me Under Pressure", by ZZ Top. Also "Money For Nothing" by Dire Straits.
That tone been in use for a long time!

I'm highly suspicious of people who get highly suspicious of greasy, gut-level music like this. They're trying to tell you something! LOL

People keep calling this a WTF moment. In reality, it's one of the best songs on the album, and a highlight when seen live.
