  • why not have a pre payed phone as well

  • Bon boulot le kit m'a l'air complet et bien compact ! Sauf peut étre la trousse médical !?

Good job is complet and compact ! just medical kit is so ligth !??

pour information les commenter de débile alors que vous n'éte pas "handicapé" mais surtout trés con faut eviter c de la perte de temps qui pollue youtube sur toute c video !!

  • #1 priority in a survival situation is rescue.

  • you can get the tablets for 5 $ on amazon

  • Please wear a Hawaiian shirt next time :)

    Cheers.

  • Great video and very informative. You might want to consider adding a length of monofiliment fishing leader and some trout flies. If you really needed to catch some fish these would be extremely useful. Good On Ya! WC Paetz

  • pain killers he says, ibu an tylenol lol

  • the number one thing you need to survive .............

    1. the will to survive

    2.skill

    3.knowledge

    4. how to use your equipment

  • @TheExtrme8 that's four things...

  • gret video i am just learning survival myself and have a survival kit very simlair to this i would suggest a sewing kit and mabie 1 or 2 stock cubes oh and that filter straw is cool where did u get that? keep it up :)

  • that is good kit only thing id change is adding a little survival tin to hold the little things, won't take up any more room an its abit of a back up if the foil bowl bursts, but all in great an informitve video

  • Well thought out kit for your needs.Might want to add stock cubes?Duct tape?

  • @SuperDeltaRomeo Excellent suggestions. Also, that wire saw he suggests is absolute crap. Though larger or more cumbersome, a folding saw is much better, or just a bow saw blade and you can make the bow if you are stuck somewhere with wood.

  • i always use taped up money in my kits its very usefull

  • It's a good idea to dip one electrode of each battery in candle wax to prevent shorting when wet. Nice video.

  • why would 4 people dislike this video,,, he's only showing us his survival kit

  • the fire steel and matches are good but why no lighter? a mini bic takes almost no space and is defiantly the easiest way to start a fire. in my camelback there's 3 bics 2 are in separate ziplock bags in different compartments then I have a fire steel as a backup.

  • First I would like to say, I enjoyed your video, your kit has a lot of good things in it, however your knife..May i suggest you get something bigger for a survival situation, with a bag that big, you could fit a freaking axe if you wished to. Now on the positive side, I did in particular like your idea with the coffee filters and the collapsible waterbag, that is smart thinking - thumbs up.

  • I am not a survival guru by any stretch, but what about a weapon?

I don't know a vast amount about guns, but a pistol of some sort would probably be a good thing to have for survival - if nothing else for catching game, or in the event of general lawlessness (e.g.. LA riots, Hurricane Katrina), to kill anyone who tries in desperation to steal your survival gear.

But I still like this video because the kit is so small and lightweight.

  • @aldoreshgaramok He sounds like an American so I was surprised to not see a gun.

But rather a knife than a gun in a survival kit.

  • Hey pack rat, i enjoy watching your vids and i liked this one too. About the pouch i have the same one, only i use mine as a first aid kit. If you want some advice i would ditch the cheezy pocket knife and the saw and buy yourself a decent leatherman.

  • Youre kit is very nice.I like it.

  • condoms to hold water (female) ones are bigger and thicker, a clip-on knife about 5" to 6" long , if you are lost, or whatever Start a fire, make it bigger , then bigger, then bigger, don't set the woods on fire, but if you gathered a whole tress worth put them in a clearing and set them on fie Someone will see it, chances are you are not that far way from someone else. if your life is in danger, SET IT , rather be in jail then dead. lol

  • great video , im from ireland and just putting together kit , thanks for the tips

  • Good info and good job of the presentation.

  • Really nice vids. Will try to put together a set like this some day.

  • Everybody keeps saying just take a sattelite phone. The problem with that is if there's nuclear war, an EMP or something of that nature there won't be any sattelites, just saying....

  • @SebWMorleye I understand now. So I could make one of these and leave it in my basement incase of disaster. Thanks

  • @SebWMorleye You would be better off taking a satellite phone with you. It is smaller and you wold be Guaranteed your survival. But of coarse that would'nt be any fun for you because it is too easy.

It feels to me that you are trying to proove you can survive. Is that the case? The only reason I say this is because if you were really concerned about your survival in case you're lost in the woods, you would stay on the trails, bring a satelite phone, tell someone where you are going, ect.

  • @dandotreillydot42058 Bushcraft isn't just about being able to survive. It's a hobby too. With it you learn more about yourself and what being human actually is like in the core. It's about the ultimate feeling of freedom where you know, even if you are in the woods 4 days walk from any person, you can take care of yourself.

Why learn to swim when you can buy a boat. Why learn how to cook when you can go to a restaurant. Why learn how to fish when you can buy it at the supermarket.

  • @brickan2 Thank god someone answered me who isn't a shit head. Thanks

  • hahah your hand at 05:31 :D

  • Where did u get the fire striker?

  • no one ever gets lost in the wilderness. even if they do, they dont have a handy dandy survival kit on their belt.

  • This might sound just abit weird but how about s flare gun?? Small, fits in a holster and I'm sure if u see somebody but they can't see u BOOM!

  • I like you setup and your philosophy and I look forward to watching more of your videos. Thanks!

  • THANK THE LORD!!!!!!!!!

Where did u get it and how easy is it to get?

  • i cant find any of this stuf at my camping stor online dam

  • great video and kit - just to say, how can you boil water and purify it over a fire - i put my kit in a tin because a.) it protects+ waterproofs the kit b.) you can use it as a long term cooking pot. just some suggestions

  • You can put a Cliff Bar inside one of the retainers in your pouch. I do it and it works great...however, very good review...as some of your others..keep up the good work.

  • For tinder, charcloth is a really good idea. It takes a spark from the striker very well. See other vids for procedure to make it.

  • when i went camping on dartmoor with my school we took water from a stream and put purification tablets in and its make water taste like chlorine and salt, lol

  • GREAT KIT!

you should carry $1.25 in change. that way you would also be able to buy water at a vending machine if needed. It doesn't hurt for the added option.

  • thx for tips. good start for my compact kit.

  • durrin the spring and summer blue gills will be at the edges of ponds and you can use a small flower as bait its kinda funny to do

  • nice

  • that whistle would also come in handy to defend against getting raped by bears. just playin good vid

  • picked up some great ideas, thanks for uploading! :)

  • Great Video, and lots of good idea's

  • Great video man! thanks for posting it!

  • lol, "i used this the other day, and blinded my wife with it".

Seems you are some kind of psycho... lol

    Nice kit anyways ;D

  • is the music by andreas oberg?

  • @EnterTheMuffin Luciana Souza/Romeo Lubamo -Muita Bobeira

  • For those looking for that combo whistle...Walmart!

  • Great video, PackRat...I would like to recommend one more thing that may be helpful in a survival situation. Keeping a simple poncho in your pack would allow you to be protected from the elements by way of an A-frame/Lean-To and be warm by using the emergency blanket. Just a thought...

  • Great video. A lot of videos on the same topic are a bit unfocussed but this was useful. I really want to build a similar day pack.

  • you do have very useful videos but what what if your in the city? should i carry the same stuff....

  • im very sure u will be only person to survive in a catastrophic situation! haha. great video! subscribed!

  • @PackRat556 Can you tell me where you got all the different sized zip-bags. I cant find them anywhere and if you can tell me more or less what sizes you use.. sandwich bag, snack bag...etc.

I love your videos such as these about your different kits, very informative especially for a city boy with interest of the wild. Ive learned a lot from you and please keep the videos coming.

P.S maybe 1 pack of oatmeal would be helpful.. its light weight, compact and it'll feed ya ;)

  • @apbrand1010 amazon is a great place to get small ziplock bags you can get them in sets of 100 for around $3

  • My brother bought me the exact same kind of whistle that you have, and everything works great on it, except the compass. The compass has a bubble in it, and one little tap and compass will turn south. I was really dissapointed, because I have to carry an entirely different compass to make up for the failed compass in my whistle. So, if you get that whistle, make sure you check it and be sure the compass is working normally.

  • Nice video. Very informative and well explained.

  • i'm digging that combo whistle. where can i get something like that?

  • Nice kit dude. Seems like you really know what are you talking about. My kit is really similiar to yours. But Im using durable outdoor blanket instead of that foil crap cause its really good to know that I can build my permanent shelter in a matter of seconds. Ive also added 2 flares and condoms (not for that purpose). Your kit is pretty good but I think you should put more stuff inside. There is a lot of space in that pouch. Resect and good luck in the wilderness.

  • Jesus Christ.

Every video you make you are sporting another type of camo getup. The local Army surplus must be making a killing off of your business.

  • @TheCybergopher Obviously you haven't watched very many of my videos sir. I have more videos that I didn't wear camo on than videos I did. Besides, whats wrong with camo?

  • @PackRat556 nothing is wrong with camo, I actually like camo

  • @PackRat556 NOTHING WRONG WITH CAMO WHAT SO EVER !!

  • @PackRat556 Nothing At All!..I Love It!

  • LOL, "I blinded my wife with it" HAHA, nice!

  • awesome kit. How about a locking knife to fix on a stick for self defense as well, or maybe another source of defense against heavy mamals.

  • Add salt and a large plastic sheet for waterproofing.

  • you should add at least x2 comdoms for more water carrying including your folderable water pack. good vid thouth

  • @smokingviper1 LOL!

  • Really well thought out kit the only major thing I think that you could add would be a few needles and thread for clothing repair. Other than that great job.

  • KIT:Mini Mag Light,Swiss Army Knife,Sharpener,Cheap box cutter knife,Matches and/or a bic lighter,Fire steel,Cotton balls,Emergency blanket,25 foot Paracord,Survival saw,Coffee filter,Aluminium foil,Colapsible waterbottle,Water fitler,Water purification tablets,Fishing kit,Small coil of wire,first aid kit,glowstick,Signal mirror,whistle,Compass,Magnifying glass,$1 in change,batteries.

    COMMENT ADDITIONS:Super glue,Duct Tape,Salt,sugar,coffee,tea,saftey pins,cable ties,oatmeal,poncho,sewing kit.

  • Thank you so much

  • Very nice, well thought out kit, thank you for sharing.

  • What brand is that wistle?

  • @Vagfinder Ozark Trail

  • @kmills2323 Ty

  • well done kit sir, my only change would be to have the whole kit in a metal container u could use to boil water in, the soft pouch is useless

  • I'd put a stick of hot glue with a lighter (to repair shoes and to repair/make other items) some duck tape, tweezers (for ticks and splinters), and a credit card-size fresnel lens in there (for fire starting and removing splinters and ticks).

  • Great vid, thanks for sharing your experience!

  • cool

  • What is the brand name of the multi-use whistle? Where can anyone get this? Thanks.

  • amazeing. i love the pack whered u get the little pack. Uncel Sam? btw u forgot to putt in a picture of ur family. once again a very nice kit

  • make sure you visit cold steel for a blunt weapon such as a war hammer

  • You can use the alcohol swabs to start a fire too, things are always interchangable.

  • By the way, where do you get all your small zip lock bags. Those would come in pretty handy.

  • Outstanding Video. You actually sold me on that particular Condor Pouch. I have a regular BOB. But after seeing this video I made a smaller system I can wear on my belt. Thank you and God Bless you. Your videos are very informative.

  • powder oatmeal in sandwich size bag just stuff it in.

  • Great kit. Perfect for a day hiking trip or keeping in your vehicle. Great video. We have a Ham Radio Survival Net every Thursday Night. I will share your video with the group.

  • Great kit. Perfect for a day hiking trip or keeping in your vehicle.

  • A quick tiny idea for food is at the health food store, you can get flat natural fruit leather for less than $1 each. they're very thin/flat and about the size of a personal check and you can keep several flat on the sides or bottom of the bag. Just a thought. Love your videos! Great info!

  • Good video with a couple of items I plan to add. A lanyard on the maglite could fasten it to the pack webbing. Thanks!

  • Very nice little kit.Good video. Lot of good useable items in small kit i like that!!!

  • i like the vid but were did you buy the pack

  • @GREENGOZES google the website called "cheaperthandirt" gear.

  • Thanks for the video. I'm putting together a kit for my car because of the horrible ice storm we had last year hear. Never before have I been worried about freezing to death. The saw isn't great, but I'm assuming you're looking for light weight in an every day kit. They sell a saw at the Scout Shop that's basically a chainsaw blade with two handles. Don't know what it's called, but I'm going for that one instead. Once again thanks for the videos.

  • @3yearsago i've used that type of saw before and I absolutely hated the thing! A have a collapsible bowsaw now that when collapsed is about 8 inches long and weighs about half a pound. Its larger so I lash it to the outside of my kit, but it works much better

  • First kit i saw with out duct tape. The conclusion in the end was the most important thing in this kit. :D

  • Very eloquent and well done presentation. I was very impressed with your video's "flow". While I appreciate all the efforts I see here on You Tube dealing with survival and being prepared, some videos tend to look a bit more polished then others. You have done a very nice job. Keep it up.

  • Another outstanding video. Great intro music, good camera focus and angle and tons of good info. Thanks.

  • Great videos...just wondering if in the future or perhaps you can do a short video to tell us newbs places that we can get some of the stuff you are showing? I am just getting into the whole survival thing and there are a lot of places to buy gear...some help sorting out the good from the bad and the less expensive from the rip offs would be awesome.

  • what if a squirel took a dump in the water you were going to drink 0_0 NOT GOOD!!!!!! would it filter that if you were in the wild and you found a river

  • what if a squirel took a dump in the water you were going to drink 0_0 NOT GOOD!!!!!! would it filter that

  • lots of good info

  • Great video!

  • Very good block of instruction soldier. I am guessing that you are a military man no or at least you were, and probably am NCO. To this, I want to say not only thank you for the video, but Thank You soldier, for your service to our nation…

I took some notes and will be looking at more of your videos…

I hope there is one on a survival backpack, or rucksack… HUA!!! Heard – Understood – and - Approved

  • i would go with an more compact, brighter, and longer lasting led light, also a multi-tool would provide you more options. a cheap bic lighter could save you a lot of room and they are reliable.

  • his kit contains a cock ring

  • Great video - so true with what you said at the end regarding a persons will to live and basic knowledge...

  • hey bro great video, you gave me some great ideas. First let me say thanks for taking the time to make and post your videos, and also thanks to all the guys out there who comment and share a little of their knowledge. I have one sugestion of something to add and i think it is very important, I store them all over, in every one of my packs. It's an emergency poncho made by Timber Creek. very compact, in the package it measures 4x5 inches cost $.89 survival 101 "Stay Dry Stay Alive". later bro

  • Hey I do like your kit! The only thing I would suggest is is adding about 5 to 10 ft. of duct tape, it has many uses including adding it to the milar corners so it doesn't rip when ancoring it with the wire like you were talking about!

  • Hey I do like your kit! The only thing I would suggest is is adding about 5 to 10 ft. of duct tape, it has many uses including adding it to the space milar corners so it doesn't rip when ancoring it with the wire like you were talking about!

  • you have great brainswhen it comes to survival

  • i like the whistle were did you get it ? nice kit

  • You might wanna check that glow stick

sometimes they go bad out after a while

  • Very good video =D one of the best ive seen!!! =P

  • the best kit i have ever seen i have made some survival kits and mine was extremely reliable but i would trade mine out for yours any day

  • I always carry a Zip-Lock bag full of instant Dry Oats, if you boil t in some water it makes a great tasting and energy giving meal.

  • The Russian Spetsnaz they use the e-tool as for hand to hand combat. Also the German nazi they also used the e-tool too.

  • very nice kit, well explained and it makes sense. thanks for posting!

  • i like the fishing line, i have used dental floss; strong and skinny just as you like

  • good coin idea, i like the belt pack instead of the big backpack,

  • Grate kit. Just remember to keep your rain gear and a sweeter with you. =)

  • I never had much luck with that particular saw. I use a reciprocating saw demolition blade in 10 tpi. 6 or 9 inch works very well. Improvise a handle or make one for the kit. It cuts even hardwood very quickly and doesn't wear you out. Thanks for your vids.

  • great video! i would like to add that in my bushcraft kit which is larger than what you have is 2 knives. A falkniven a1, and a ka-bar. along with a multi tool. Like i said my bushcraft kit is a full size backpack. But for a smaller belt carry kit i can not think of anything that i would add. nice job. RLTW

  • great kit, i like it. With my survival kit im always trying to lower the weight and make it more compact, watch the video on here of this british guys kit I believe it is one of the best ive come across: BCB ULTIMATE SURVIVAL KIT. I would also add some jelly rubber to your kit, so you can make a sling shot to hunt birds because you can do it while your trekking out of your survival situation, not like snares or fishing where you have to stay in a particular area. Thanks for the vid.

  • i have one of those whistle/compass/magnifying glass/thermometer keychains.. it is pretty nice

  • Your series of videos have helped me a lot to upgrade and add more to my kit. Thank you for posting the videos!

  • I think if you have enough room could you add a soup cube?

  • i like ur videos have watches quite a few of them . i am 56 yr ols stroke survivor in nopva scotia. i made 1st aid kit/survival kit carry in backpack. i go in woods alot just dont travel as far nor as fast as i used to. thx alot. karen. do u know where to buy mini pkg antibiotic ointment.....2 pkg tylenol etc?

  • Nice video! Quick question: where can I find the small and variable size plastic bags you use to organize your stuff (for example the small bags you use for your fishing items)?

  • @KevinMeston small plastic bags are sold at walmart in the craft section. Also try Michaels or any type of art and craft store

  • "i blinded my wife with it"

    lmao

  • i might add a bic lighter to your kit.

  • where did you get all the littel bags

  • I can't believe anyone would give you a thumbs down on your videos. Great information! I like your statement at the end that it's your will to survive that gets you through. Tools just make it more convenient. Keep up the great work!

  • Awesome kit filled with utility and compactness. If you don't carry one in person I would add some sort of writing utensil to record things like pace/direction for navigation, or to use for marking.

  • that's an outstanding survival pouch! i am planning to do somthing similar, but with a canvas utility pouch instead (being a broke college dude).

i'd add two UK style mess tins. they're rectangular and nest into one another, so i can put my kit in those to offer extra protection to the items. you'd also wind up with two containers to cook or boil water in!

also, maybe you could consider adding a bic lighter, just sayin'

  • you got some nice stuff, but 1 thing i think you're missing is a bigger knife, you had a couple nice ones, but maybe a bigger bladed one can be fitted into the kit, just in case for protection, chopping and other useful things, great vid 10/10

  • @305Wasabi I haven't watched any other of his vids, but im sure he carries a bigger, probably fixed blade knife, while going out into the wilderness. Just because a knife is big, doesnt mean it can do everything. a good fixed blade and a pocket knife are great to have together.

  • i like the vid, give it a thumbs up, i would add o roll of duck tape i saw on one vid a guy used duck tape to reenforce the emergancy blanket after punchin holes in it. forgot what the vid was called.

  • Chlorine dioxide as found in Aguamira tablets or Chlor Floc tablets are the best next to boiling. In addition, either clears sendimentation that hold chemical impurities.

  • Great presentation! I would put you against Robert Redford anytime. Tell me where I can get the belt pouch.

  • I think you did a real good job considering the space restraints. There is one juicy item I have come across recently and that is food tablets or survival tabs. They are small, have not only the vitamins you need, but even more. they would make a good supplement or if it's real bad, you might be able to live off of them for a bit. Overall, a very good collection!

  • i would suggest wearing or taking a flea/tick collar with you helps keep ticks off you i think part of survival is prevention thumbs up for the kit 10/10

  • some great ideas to be had here =]

  • thats some great kit but if you put lanyards on everything then why not put one on that flashligt and tie the other end to the outside of that pouch?

  • need some softwares ? struggling for survival needs pychological encouragement. how about a super small mp3 for 10 hours ? means if you are struggling for 20 days , u could have 1/2 hour music per day . and a photo of your most love is essential .I am not joking , we have the best hardwares already ! carbon steel knife , tiny strings 500 lbs .. but emotional 2 lbs weak.

  • the hardwares are great !.Fire , most essential , consider using petroleum jelled tinder ..Water ( the filter is excellent ) , but how to boil water ? someone told me that boiling water in plastic bag FULL of water with no air may work... thanks

  • @0900pp yea thats why i made mine in a can.

  • Great kit mate

  • everything here is awesome. Just wish you could give us some hints to where we can get these gears, for example like the whistle. Also does that straw eliminate bacteria and parasites from the water?

One more thing, I seen another video where instead of a small purse like container, the guy uses a small aluminum container in which it can also be used to boil water or cook in.

  • That's a great compact kit. I've been meaning to put together a belt-carry kit to take with me when I have to leave my BOB behind.

    Outstanding presentation, btw.

  • One of my three favorite videos. I watch this over and over and over as I learn what I need to make one for myself.

I am just not sure if I should have a compact survival kit AND Back Pack survival Kit.

  • @urkingod Both are very good to have. Keep the compact one within reach all the time (Your car?) and one at your base camp or a cache.

  • man i hate california you cant buy anything cool in the camping or hunting section, but their is really no hunting sections.. fucking liberal ass california

  • Comment removed

  • yes, step 1 cook them , step 2 put them in your mouth, step 3 chew them

  • where do you get all the small poly bags? Thats one thing I can't find for my kits.

  • @malachre, Art and craft sore.

  • Well thought out, well put together, and very well said.

    Thanks for posting.
