@tlehman1 Thanks for the link, but I have uploaded the songs from Stephan Genz on my own You Tube account SoulNotes1. I will be loading more of his work when I have a bit of time. Thanks and feel free to drop in at SoulNotes1.
Thanks for this upload! Don't you perhaps have his Beethoven songs to upload? It is by far the best of the beautiful Beethoven song(s) on You Tube... "An die ferne geliebte" ...
Genz's art at pianissimo with a tone of love within is sublime! Such painting of a picture with a voice is indeed to be sought out!
@SoulNotes1 Sorry, no, I don't have those Beethoven songs. It's interesting you should say that about painting with the voice about Genz, I thought the same thing about Werner Güra, when I first heard his Schöne Müllerin, and he's still my favorite lieder singer.
@mutewoman Thanks for the intro to Gura. I am a Goerne fan...
It is difficult to change from the 1st heard to a secondary choice as the 1st is our 'set standard' and thereafter it has to improve dramatically before we embrace another...
If I knew how to upload I would load my cd - as it is a crime that Genz is not represenrted with it here on UT. Chat again...
It was worth the search for Genz - there just is not enough of his music available where I live as he is totally unknown here. I have only his Beethoven songs and it is magnificent!
Brahms is still making me cry after over 100 years. It is like a still dark night. And that moon which does not want to shine because it is sad makes me also sad.
This is, of course, no folksong. von Spee wrote the words and the music (including the melody) is by Brahms himself.
Oh lovely!! Thank uuu :-)
