  • i thought larry merchant was smart, doesn't sound smart from this interview

  • Arreola, is a tough Mexican-American who likes to fight. He has a passion for the FIGHT which is what he does best.

Klitschko, is a polished and Boxer-Puncher. He used his height, reach and the fact that he is more athletic than Arreola to win that fight, not to mention,Klitschko's trainers wisdom in controlling his fighters level of excitement to ensure the longevity of the fight.

  • As MUCH as I RESPECT LARRY.. some of his stuff is nonsense.. like Vitaliy hasnt faced as aggressive opposition as C ARREOLA.. i m like what?!?!?!

  • football and gay basketball as always been there Idiot

always!!! and Lewis was not AmErIcan ass hole

you have better boxers now and they can't Compete in MMA boxing K-1

  • larry merchant knows shit about boxing

  • Arreola might be fighting Tua Dec. 5th on HBO.

  • Vitali is the greatest HW of all time.

Joe Louis would get destroyed by Vitali.

  • @Pete12344545 be countering hard

  • louis kills vitali easy

  • @lee1990lee Louis would lose to Vitali 99% of the time. Louis achieved more in his time than Vitali, so he ranks greater all time, but he would literally lose to Vitali in under 3 rounds. Louis is probably at the level of Vitali's sparring partners. Boxing fans are one of the few fans that argue that guys from 50 years ago would beat guys today. The tennis guys don't argue that Bjorn Borg would beat Rafa Nadal. The track guys don't argue that Owens would outrun Bolt.

  • @Pete12344545 Of course Louis would get destroyed by Vitali, Louis was 200 pounds, Vitali is 60 pounds bigger plus he has modern training equipment and nutrition. I think the biggest argument in favour of todays fighters is the one that Americans often overlook - that Klitschko's fighting the whole world. Ali only fought half the world cause the other half was under communism. There's a reason Eastern Europeans conquered boxing only recently it's because they only got to compete now

  • man this guy is old, ever thing of retireing?

  • i know right have you seen his interviews when he talks to the fighter haldf of the time he thinking

  • Vodka breath Merchant needs to stop giving predicitons. Any Idiot boxing fan knew that Aereola would be beaten down the same way Danny Williams and Chris Peter were by Vitali. he looks and fights like them and in fact I them Sam Peter can beat this Mexican beaner fat fucks ass

  • insignificant man...i wish you would tell that to his face.

  • @ warrkrymez

Yeah just go on with unfounded accusations, hater!

  • Klitchko fought Lewis, and did very well. Rightly stopped by a nasty cut. But Larry, who I think the world of, says Klitchko hasn't fought anyone aggressive. Meanwhile, Arreola hasn't fought anyone yet. I like his point about athletes from different eras. I think though, if athletes from say 50 years ago had access to the science of today, they'd probably be just as good as today's athletes.

  • Science? You mean Roids.

  • That cut was caused by a head butt created by Lewis's spikey dread locks which Lewis intentionally as a desperate tactic when he knew Klitchko was beating his ass. Thats why Lewis Retired after the fight at 36 which is a prime age for a heavey weight. Lewis Knew he'd get killed in a rematch as Klitchko would have more then two weeks to train for him and get away from his smothering butting attempts

  • you obviously know fuck all about boxing. 36 is a prime age for a heavyweight? Ali retired when he was 36 but came back 2 years later and got killed by Larry Holmes. And Vitali didn't train for 2 weeks. He was already training for a fight with Cedric Boswell. Also Lewis was old (he was 38, not 36) and out of shape (256Ibs) I'm not even a Lewis fan but I know he can beat klitschko when he's in shape and in prime.

  • First of all you dunce, I trained and competed in boxing exhibition as well as sparred with pro's where I held my own. Secondly were at a different era now. Ali was a great talent but a dumb boxer for allowing himself to fight on the inside and take blows that wore down his career and eventually caused his parkinson's. Lewis was only 5 pounds overweight against Klitchko and Vitali was a late replacement for kirk Johnson who mysteriously had to withdraw and later got his ass wooped by vitali

  • you know there are people with a little boxing experience but are still shit and don't know a lot about it. And sparring isn't fighting. It's much lighter. But to call Ali a dumb boxer is pretty DUMB since he is considered by many a ring genius. And yeah I know klitschko was a late replacement but many people think he trained for 2 weeks but he was already training for a fight on the undercard of Lewis' fight so that's why he replaced johnson...

  • I mean seriously...Anyone who thinks a relatively unknown fighter (which Vitali was at the time) would have only 2 weeks to train to fight the champion of the world is fucking stupid.

  • 33-36 is a prime age for boxers! BOXERS, NOT BRAWLERS! Euro fighters are boxers americans brawlers! Easy as that! And a great boxer always beats a great brawler! The time of the black fighter is over! Bigger, stronger northern fighters have already take over most of the bigger belts! But if you like brawlers look up Bennis Boytsov! The guy freakishly reminds me of mike tyson!

  • okay kid...so you're telling me the 33 year old Ali that fought Frazier was better than the Ali from 64-67? Ali was a master boxer so I have just proven you wrong with that point. Ali's footwork and stamina when he was 33 was nothing compared to when he was in his 20s. And why did you bring up brawlers? When did I mention anything about brawlers? Clearly you're a European Klitschko fan who has no proper knowledge of boxing. REAL fans don't bring race into it like you.

  • The time of the black fighter is over because the former black fighter are now playing footbal and basketball with miljon dollar contract while the Klitchkos and that giant freak are beating bums in the most boring fights history has ever seen. That's why nobody is watching boxing anymore.

And what's that crap about Americans not being boxers? What about guys like Lewis, Ali, Holmes,... And a boxer his prime being between 33 and 36??? NO it's between 25 and 30.

  • bcibibcibcpCB, plenty of people are watching boxing because there is much more to the sport than the Heavyweight division.

  • @bcibibcibcpCB nba, nfl?? LOL ! Lame excuse! I've read the other day that the nba draft was weak! + boxing is still not as popular in europe as in america, but we still have the quallity! It goes down to strenght, inteligence and discipline! Theses are all quallitis the north eastern european people have! And a boxers prime age IS in his 30s! A brawlers in his 20s!

  • That just doesn't make any sence. A boxer depends on speed, timing and fast reflexes, the first thing to go in a fighter. A brawler depends on power, the last thing to go in a fighter. You clearly don't know what you are talking about.

  • @bcibibcibcpCB A boxer depends on speed, timing and fast reflexes, the first thing to go in a fighter" And you still dont know why american fighters are getting their asses handed to them! In every cutting edge sport, be that from cycling to football(european) The more the competition and skill level goes up, so does the age bar! Conditionning and experience with a cold head always beats youth, speed and sheer aggresion!

  • @bcibibcibcpCB just look at cycling! Before the modern age, the prime age of cyclist were 23-27, NOW its 28 - 33, same for football(the real one) and hockey! And now, that boxing is an international cutting edge sport, so is boxing! Like it or not! Keep up that im the best hitter ghetto bulshit mentality and i guarantie you, americans will never beat eurofighters!

  • I just rember the saying: "Don't argue with idiots because people will think you are one of them".

  • @bcibibcibcpCB thanks for reminding m you're not woth it! idiot...

  • @bcibibcibcpCB the time of black heavyweights is over because klitchkos are putting them all on there ass. black fighters were in foootball and basketball in the eighties and ninties..its no different now..stop hating..dont worry a black hope might come after klitchkos retire

  • @TheJayone23 Everydody knows the heavyweightdivision is death. In the 80's and 90's it was already going downhill but the you still had a few stars like Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis, Bowe, now there is nothing out there. Yourneymen from those days get the fight for the title at 40 years old, a middleweight from that day holds a heavyweight title know. And a guy who couldn't beat old, fat and out of shaped Lewis is now champ. It' very sad.

  • @bcibibcibcpCB by everybody ..u mean in ur opinion or black guys n general lol ur smokin crack..the ninieties was the biggest boxing has been since ali. athletes find longer now because or nutrition, etc..dont hate on the klitckos cause no black guys can compete with them. lewis came in heavy on purpose to face a bigger oponent in kurt johnson..that extra weight saved him from getting ktfo in the 2nd round by vitaly

  • @TheJayone23 I hope you realise that the only good fighter Klitschko ever faced is Lennox Lewis and he lost. I don't care if he defeates 1000 of those bums he fights, black or white.

  • @bcibibcibcpCB hope u realize all says ray mercer beat lewis and wlad klitchko kod mercer..n by the way who the hell did lewis beat? washed up tyson n holyfield..he fought nobody in there prime n got ktfo several times. do ur homework..last 4 opponents of vitaly had ZERO losses combined..so again stop hating n get a life

  • @TheJayone23 Another idiot who doesn't know shit about boxing and therefor looks at records. I knew bums who had a 60-0 record. I've boxed since I was a kid and been a pro, I can see who can fight and who can't. I realy don't care what kind of record those fat bums have Klitschko knocks down. They are fat, slow, no movement, how can you fight against a giant without speed and movement?

  • @bcibibcibcpCB i c u cowardly avoided answering my last response..truth hurts doesnt it...dude even gomez could beat most fighters from any era..size, very fast , left handed fighter. so go feed ur biased bullshit to someone who will buy it. again a black hope can happen again when klitchkos retire..so save ur bull shit excuses

  • @bcibibcibcpCB if u do box..it makes the points uve made on here look even more hilarious..u shouldnt be calling anyone n idiot..makes u look worse

  • such a great interview!!!!

  • good interview

  • Well, this interview COMPLETELY changed my opinion about Larry Merchant that I had built up during the last 10 years.

I thought he was praising American heavyweights from the past way too much and also not giving the Klitschkos the credit they really deserve.

But Larry is actually a nice guy. He is quite honest. I totally agree that champs of this era could've competed against any champs of the past.

  • Great questions and interview.

  • Chris Arreola has a tough task of getting through those long Klitschko arms.

  • par le vous francais

  • no but english and spanish yea.

  • por eso no mas tienes dos amigos.....necestis aprender mas lenguas......you need to go mundial carnal

  • you write the way you speak. dude bato loco de la cabeza

  • it's vato no bato...vato loco

  • I was not talking about that "bato" vato has another meanining if you know that much spanish valedor

  • mi no espikee ingles...thanx 4 the lesson...pero soy una valedora...tank u bery much....now u may be seated

  • BATO is a 5th class municipality in the province of Catanduanes, Philippines. According to the 2007 census, it has a population of 18,738 people in 3,497 households

  • Bato is a member of the Southern Water Tribe, and a close friend of Katara and Sokka's father, Hakoda. He is something of a paternal figure to Katara and Sokka in their father's stead, and obviously cares about their well-being

  • Bato

    1. A rustic, simpleton. (m)

    2. Father. (m)

  • Dos amigos? si y piensas que son mis huevos?

  • gran pelea....mucho corazon....

  • Chris no esta en condicion como boxeador ni como atleta del fin de semana. Como mexicano tiene mucho corazon pero tambien le falta mucha disciplina. Y sin disciplina el corazon tiende a confundirse.

  • seguro que si...

  • TzzX78 you really said it like it is man! Arreola is very strong but too many Coronas and tacos make you a lot older than you are!

  • no me mames way

  • "stink face" arreola will die at the hands of "DR. IRON FIST" VITALI

  • dude u jus said that in another vid! lol

  • no espiko english.....spreken ze deutsch

  • !!DER!!

  • Sounds to me like Larry Merchant is losing his mind....wow! Ill bet my house that Arreola dont last 6 rounds...and thats givin him alot...

  • Maybe so, but give credit to the fact that Arreola will fight, Mexicans don´t care if they get KOed, they attack. None of that boring jab fests, hug fests, running competitions that most boxers do. What good is to last 12 rounds if you hugged and ran for half the fight, no machismo!!

  • the girl at 325 looks soooo hot even merchent was looking at that. if i was ther i would have hit that I WOULD HAVE HIT THAT FO SHOU!!!

  • Larry Merchant and Bert Sugar are two of my favorite boxing commentators. Great, great stuff. Five stars.

  • Larry, love you, but it is unbelievable that you are not seeing that this is a complete and utter miss-match.

Vitali is a better boxer, better defense, stronger, taller, more experienced.

P.S. Vitali is 30 pounds heavier than even young Foreman, and has a real defense, obviously he would beat Frazier and Ali and the rest, there is no question.

  • what?????

  • I think he pretty much pianted the same picture of Chris i see aswell great interview great guestionz very very professional David bravo i faved it!

  • This Aerolla or nipple is got no idea what is going to happen. He will meet a jab for the first time and then a right that will floor him inside of three round. Come back after the fight and then admit whoever said this guy had a chance is outta there mind. Ive been watching boxing my whole life and the Klitcho bros r the best in the world right know. Hw division

  • i agree. right now the brothers are the best

  • Tyson? The most overrated boxer of all time in the weakest HW division ever. He fought 2 good fighters, and was KTFO by both. Both Klitcshkos would knock out Tyson in less than 5 rounds.

  • eagleskins is 100 percent correct Tyson fought bums and overaged champions the minute he faced any talent he lost. true true true and talk shit all you want because for the people who know reality its on tape just go back and look. It would be like putting me in eighth grade and getting credit for knocking all the kids out it isnt a challenge place me in college against in shape grown men who arent scared from the opening bell and Ill get my ass kicked. Great entertainer but shitty boxer.lol

  • Larry Merchant = LIVING LEGEND!!!

  • George Foreman sucked soo bad when he was on HBO, he totally buzzkilled some great fights with his stupid mouth saying total garbage, he was in essence an idiot commentator.

  • Somehow I think this is gonna be a brutal beating of Arreola. Hes not that good and gets hit early in fights. Vitali most likely wont fall to one big shot thats more likely wit his brother. I hope Chris comes in great shape for his sake.

  • Vitali Klitschko is the best HW of all time.

I cannot wait for this fight!

  • Awesome video.

    Great interview.......Peace.

  • Wuz up broham? Great video and good questions! -ROD

  • i really like merchant.

he is unbiased and realistic in his views.

i dont understand why everyone slags him off so much, i think its really refreshing to find anyone over the age of 40 who'll give modern fighters any credit and not just start giving us the teddy atlas bert sugar bullshit bout the 20's-50's.

whether you believe the klitschkos have heart or not, it is indisputable that most heavyweights in any era wud'v been beaten by them before they needed to bring their hert in2 the equation

  • that's what i've been saying all along! keep pressure on Vitali & make him run out of steam! Chris has to get him tired & bang Vitali's body hard!!!! Chris should not head hunt dat's what alot of boxer's did against him & failed! going after Klitschko body and conditoning iz wat's going to pull off the win! also Chris has to make thiz a dirty bout if Vitali starts leaning on Chris i wod throw hiz azz on the floor so wen he gets up he has to pick up all dat weight! & Vitali never been there!

  • all u guys now saying vitali never fought a guy like arreola, UR ALL JOKES!!!!!!!!!!. he beat the shit out of all of his opponents, even lewis.now that he destroyed sam peter, u say sam peter was always garbage, but before the fight you would say "sam peter is the next big thing, arreola is a fucking bum compared to peter" u guys make me laugh cause u r all braindead JOKES

  • this is the best larry merchant interview ever, i always thinks he gets lost in his words but this was great to see that he isnt as crazy as i had thought

  • A lot of people dont' give Chris the respect he deserves.Just cuz he isn't shaped like a statue doesn't mean he isn't in fighting shape...No one expects a 12 round.Chris has skills just doesn't usually have to use em because he just demolishes his opponents when he moves in for the kill

  • .Vitali is one tough s.o.b but doesn't have skills as a inside fighter and no defensive skills besides using his reach..Chris isn't one to fight another fighters fight he dictates the fight and apply's pressure every second of every round something vitali isn't used to.Chris will win this fight and have everyone with a dumb look on there face saying damn thats one bad dude..Good luck brother

  • vitaliy klitschkos might be in his ages, but he is a very clever, skilled and a strong puncher figher and he will always find a way to expose his opponents.

people make it a sooo big deal that arreola pressures his apponetns. so what. samuel peter pressures his opponetns to and it worked on some, but it does not mean it will work on every one,

vitalit fought a lot of akaward opponets before and he knows that chirs arreola might pressure, but he's not hard to tag.

  • DavidGaye1 is the prime example as to why I rarely talk boxing on youtube... most of the time your talking to retards who aren't here for debate - rather to ride their favourite fighters dick and blast anyone who disagrees with them.

I wish the worst for him, and all those like him.

  • sooty just don't waste your time with people like that.

  • Well said!

  • Comment removed

  • I'm actually surprised that Larry would give so much credit to Arreola, much less give him a chance of winning the fight. I think Merchant's just being a nice guy, Arreola (and this hurts as a Mexican American myself) won't last past 5 rounds with this Vitali. I have loads of respect for both fighters, but I just can't see Cristobal winning this one.

  • I feel you liberal185. Props for being a level headed fan.

  • The Klitschkos are likable guys and they know how to fight - but your are tripping hard if you think they would beat the ATG HWs of the past. Wlad gets knocked out by journeymen and Vitali was taken to hell and back by an out of shape Lummox.

  • sootyandsweep that's a reasonable perspective. The one thing the brothers have going for them is size, but other than that the great HW's of the past are better in just about every way.

  • Another idiot that knows nothing about boxing. If all they had was size they would be like Valuev, idiot!

  • DavidGaye1 why don't you break down what the Klitschkos do better than the all time greats since you know so much about boxing bro.

  • Fact: Vlad Klitschko against undefeated fighters - 7 wins, no losses. Muhammed Ali against undefeated fighters - 3 wins, 3 losses. Fact: Vlad Klitschko in 8 recent title defenses - opponents average number of losses = 1 and 3/4, 3 opponents undefeated. Muhammed Ali in 10 title defenses in his prime - opponents average losses = 6, none undefeated, one opponent 13 losses, two opponents 11 losses, 5 opponents were cruiserweights. Nobody's tripping just giving the facts.

  • Comment removed

  • What he's getting at is Vitali has fought good competition..He hasn't just went threw taxi drivers as a figure of speach..Ali is one of the greatest of all time but if you've ever been in a ring you would know size makes a big difference...

  • haha, good one, keep it up nad dont trip

  • Vitali was winning on the scorecards during that fight you know?

  • Your dumb ass British brain is tripping hard. The Klitschkos with their size and skill would be good in any era. Klitschkos rule. GET OVER IT BIGOT!

  • Its actually quite true. Size can be a very good tool so long as you're not an awkward freakshow like Valuev. The Klitschkos are very well trained under Emmanuel Steward, particularly Wladimir and they have excellent skill sets to compete with any great heavyweight of any era.

  • Good points diamondman.

  • only wladimir is trained by steward, vitali is still trained by fritz sdunek

  • this is ridiculous.vitali fought top ten guys for over ten years and beat them all except lennox and he was ahead on all 3 scorecards at the time of the stoppage.same with wlad. he has beaten the shit out of the best heavyweights in the world for 10 years and has been knocked out too by brewster and sanders.who cares?? puritty fight he ran out of gas after winning every round.what do you know about boxing asshole????nothing, stfu and fuck off

  • ROFL, i just read your p4p list - you expect me to take you seriously? Get back to your fucking cave you bitch-made faggot.

  • llllllllllmfao. i expect that a dumbfuck like you doesnt understand my p4p list.probably u cant even read u braindead cocksucker. it s a disgrace that pple like u talk about boxing on youtube cause you are nothing but a braindead loser who has no real boxing knowledge.sugar ray, whitaker and pep were the best of the best.boxing isnt all about knocking a guy out u faggot.pep and whitaker were masters of the sweet science.all u understand about boxing is a Knockout.nothing more lol

  • "you doesnt understand" - thats the kind of shit a child comes out with.....continue trolling, i'm done speaking with you.

  • where did i say "you doesnt understand". it s called "you dont understand" you dumbshit faggot.i m done speaking WITH YOU you fucking braindead cocksucking piece of shit

  • good interview from a smart guy

  • great interview!Larry knows his boxing.thx for the vid.

  • Good work there Hudathan. Great catch getting Larry on camera, he brought up some good points.

    Really enjoyed the work bro!

  • Vamos Fucking Cristobal

  • This is the most objective and thoughtful I have ever heard Merchant.

  • Great interview!

  • it's Larry Merchant lol nice job David enjoyed the interview

  • great interview bro...thanks. I don't think the Klitchkos would stand a chance against fighters like Tyson and Ali. I disagree with Larry there. I give them credit for staying on top but Wlad has been ko'd by not so good fighters and Vitali got tko'd rnd 6 by an out of shape Lewis who was ready to retire if I remember correctly..and that was because Vitali didn't hav enough defence...

  • Come on Chris, We need a Mexican heavyweight champion and bring back titles to America again finally.

  • Thanks for the interview. You have great talent bro and its nice to see you out there showing the world your skills. Keep up the good work.

  • Nice one.

  • great interview

  • @hudathan,,,really good interview mate.good taxing questions, keep up the good work!

  • Great work Dave.

  • great interview!

  • Great interview man.

  • I've always liked Merchant. He's much better then Kellerman.

  • Larry Merchant is god, thanks for the interview.

  • great interview bro

  • Great video, thanks for tracking down this legend.

  • Hey Johnny...is that you in the background?

  • Great interview man!

  • Good Job...Larry is the man BOYYYYYYYYYYYYY...let's go Chris bring that title HOME where it belongs!

  • come on Larry.. you know you want chris to win lol

  • good stuff there Huda

  • Thanks odin.

  • Great stuff man!

  • dragonstyle thanks bro!

  • One of the original 8 or 12 stock-holders for Joe Frazier.....could know something.

  • Tight Work brother!!!!

  • You know it ruff.

  • Hahaaaa.David Chen puttin in the work ou tin Cali! GO head boy! Good interview with Larry.

Larry's getting old too which I've been saying for years but he's got some great point in this interview!

Keep up the good work man!

  • buddha Larry is knowledge.

  • Oh I've been watching Larry since i was knee high..but I'd say he has knowledge of oxing's history more than boxing. He's a great historian. On the other hand..ever noticed how he always, always argued with lennox Lewis, Roy Jones, and George Foreman. Roy Jones and Geroge Foreman would say "well larry youve never been in there, believe what I say"..lol..Ive noticed the last few years he loses his train of thought..something I guess most of us face sooner or later..

    great vid!

  • buddha Larry's getting old but it's all good. Like the man once said Larry's forgotten more about boxing than many have ever known.

  • hudathan..He's a hell of a historian for sure!

  • he is the John Madden of boxing lol. He did a fight once were the white ref was sandwiched between the two black boxers and he said "they look like an oreo cookie in there" lmao!!! gots to love it

  • Nice!!

  • good interview
