  • Love the place!

  • Where all the rich uppity people live who think they are better than people who live in Brunswick.

  • @BabyGirlGoddess AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brunswick for the win!

  • Then 3 months later. That Mother's Day Tornado, May 11th: Came down my street and cause a lot of damage on Frederica Road. Glad that the tornado was off the ground when it got to my house or it would have been gone.

  • I went here on a field trip, and I heard Black Beard Use to roam the island. He buried his treasure there, and those who dare to look for it come to St. Simons Island.

  • Also, the present light was built in about 1872, so is not 200 yrs old.

  • Prior to the name San Simeon, Spaniards had called the island San Buena Ventura, the name of the island's first and most prominent mission, which was a late 16th or early 17th Century mission located, I believe, at the south end of the island on or near the site of the present day lighthouse. The later San Simeon mission was located mid-island on the site of present day ruins of Fort Frederica. I know, I know. Too Much Information.

  • Nice video, but I think some of the info is not accurate. Georgia's European colonial history did not begin at Fort Frederica but at San Miguel in present-day McIntosh County. Also St Simons Island was not called San Simon by 16th century Spaniards. Actually the name derives from the mid 17th century San Simeon mission, which was the last Spanish mission on the island before the missionaries abandoned the island, I believe in the 1680s.

  • i go here EVERY summer and love it !!!! i wouldn't go anywhere else !!! :) and OMG I JUST NOTICED THAT YOU CAN SEE MY OLD HOUSE !!! AND where did you stay cause they don't so that were our house is !!!
