  • I think his mouth is open more out of habit than anything, her hands look ok. But as someone else says, wow is this different from quarter/stock horse reining. This run looks extremely imprecise overall, the horse is just all over the place most of the time. I used to have Arabians growing up, and I read about all the controversies surrounding them now - it really does seem like the breed has declined considerably. This horse is quite good basically, but for nationals - this is the best?

  • AMAZING :)

  • No offense to her, but it's sloppy, too much of the same thing over and over and her hands arent very soft for the sliding stops.

  • I love the versatility of Arabs! Yur gelding looks like he's having a blast!

  • Wow, um arabian reining is sure different from QH and Paint reining... O.o

  • THAT'S THE SONG OF CARS ! HAHAHA :)

  • ur a good rider and u have an awesome horse

  • I know this person! She rides at my barn!:)

  • @jackFirewalker well then tell her shes pretty dang awesome and she has a real pretty horse!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D

  • Arabians doing reining.............. Uh.Mazing!

  • I LOVE THAT

  • love the lightning maqueen idea:)

  • Nice ride, but rough hands and the spin needs work.

  • well guys this horse is an arabian, i have one and i have to keep tight reins on her she is very fast, and you dont wanna get too fast

  • @weedluvertou i understand what your saying sometimes you just have to keep a tight reign

  • nice ride but it the rider seems to hold the reins pretty tight..

  • i love the pit crew lol! and the number painted on the side was so cute! great ride :) but those open-mouth stops were hard to watch :/

  • No offense to Quarter horse people, but Arabian horse reining is so much more interesting. Quarter horses put their heads down and slowly go round the ring, but Arabs lift their heads and tails and give it their all! Now don't get me wrong, they are both magnificent breeds!

  • @cammarkgross I disagree, I have both Arabs and QH, both are great. Watch Stacy Westfall!

  • Nice lead changes!

  • What a freaking cute little horse!! I love those flying lead changes you have going on, very fancy! He seems to be doing the :U face a lot though, is that because you're pulling on his face or does he just like opening his mouth? Great ride though!

  • @quezeh Some horses do just open their mouths, but it can have a lot to do with the riders hands. My paint gelding opens his mouth and I use very little to no pressure on the reins . The Arabian mare that I train needs extra pressure on her mouth, so sometimes she opens it because of the pressure . Depends on both horse and rider .

  • And who says that Arabians can't be good for anything than being high-spirited? Well, admittingly, I used to be one of them, but this video proves me wrong! You go, girl!

  • The ride was quite good, and I loved the creativity. The song fit it so well. But I cringed at that gaping mouth, and some of the sliding stops were a bit...bouncy. Altogether it was a good ride though, I love this video.

  • omg, she is not ready to usa so strong bit!!

  • that is so funny they have a frickin PIT CREW for the horse hahaha!!!

  • Oh I get it!! Is she sapposed to be a race car??? Oh and Beautiful lead changes!!!

  • Well, That was just... Amazing. Ive never seen a Arabian do the freestyle before and i loved it. It shows they still have there stuff.. (:

  • Love the idea for free style, I have never seen an Arab ran through a reigning event before. The stops weren't as dramatic as you usually see, and the spins weren't quiet as collected, but for the breed nice run. As for soft hands, I've owned mostly Arabs, they tend to just hold their mouths like that. If you look he's jacking his jaw open even when she's not connecting with her hands. Nice job thou!

  • i would work on the spins as well as the stops

  • Again, not as good as Stacy Westfall but done nicely in a dressage style.

  • @bernardsdaughter wtf dont go comparing every free style to stacey westfall...you know that there was freestyle before here..she didnt make it.

  • Now, everyone on her knows as well as i do, that arabians where not bred to rein. Thats what quarter horses are for. But i will give her credit that her arabian can do it just as well as a quarter horse can, considering this isnt what her horse was bred for :)

  • pretty horse, good job. Needs work, but doing great so far!

  • the horse looks like he just loves the song it reminds me of my horse back camp counsluer her dream is to have a broadway themed barn with all the horses named namerd after songs lol

  • i suggest doing more with circling and speed controls & using only slight pressure from the reins by making him back up off of her legs

to get him to stop without needing to pull on his head so much start at a walk, tell him whoa!, if he doesnt stop back him up until you feel him pushing with his rear-end then do a rollback and go again . if he stops let him stand. when he backs up on his own when you say whoa do the same thing at a trot. and keep goin from there

  • What a gorgeous Arab <3

  • that is such a good idea! omg im an english rider so i dought theyll let me paint my horse up and have fun like that but youre really good!

  • Loved the pit stop! lol Good ride.

  • i did this once

  • its stupid that people are critisizing this !

    that was amazing !

id love to see any of them do that !

  • Faved it(:

  • Great job getting Reserve, I hope to go to Youth nations only I can't jump my mare cause they don't do jumping for Morgans :(. Good job!

  • nice ride!!!!!!!

  • Heii, good ride !!

whats the name of this song ??

  • Heii, good ride !!

whats the name of this song ??

  • This is 'Life is a Highway' by Rascal Flatts

  • @creatingAscene these horses the people who ride them they own them right???

  • @janevolturi100 Generally. At the time this was filmed, the rider in this video owned the horse she is riding. But its not unheard of for people to ride horses that are owned by their instructors, stuff like that.

  • @creatingAscene well someone owns them right they just dont train them then send them to slaughter house or anywhere do they ??

  • @janevolturi100 All of these horses are owned, sometimes they're shown here to sell to other private buyers. Youth Nationals is very competative; if a horse does well here, it increases his market value considerably.

As for slaughter houses: They have been, unfortunately, all but annihilated in America.

  • @janevolturi100 What would be the point in training them just to send them to slaughter...?

  • very creative, i wanna do something like this with my standardbreddd

  • she souldn't stop with her hands.. she should stops with her feets.

  • Beautiful, but yeah, soft hands please. What a gorgeous horse. Makes me pine for the days when we showed Arabs. Best horses ever--such willing dispositions and amazing athleticism. We had an ex Scottsdale Multi champ named Vortex, still missed decades after his death.

  • what year did she get reserve?

  • i loved tht little scoot yer horse did around 3:13 :)) so cuteeee! may not be the best for your score tho!

  • that horse looks like missy she taught me everything i need to know about horses i miss her so much she passed away this year

  • thats Amazing!

  • georgouss horse ^.^

this vid is rly good. you a ded good rider <3

  • I saw you at this show and watched you ride..

    i loved your whole outfit!!!

  • Ow Ow Thumbs up ! :D

  • Fun!

  • Very creative, love the idea, but I'm wincing at that open mouth on the stops - "soft hands! soft hands!" as my instructor would shout.

  • exactly

  • @ArwenLune Yea thats what i was thinking. A bit could be dangerous if not use in the correct way.

  • @ArwenLune That is odd. I think she might be using a high-port bit

  • @ArwenLune haha! i shout no bit!no bit!

  • This is FANTASTIC! :]] Gorgeous horse.

  • What a fun video! It looked like you and your horse were having a great time.

You'll get no criticism from me about riding/sliding/ legs/hands, etc, etc. This was a FUN CLASS as far as I could tell.

I am not a show judge and I make a $20 bet that says most of your critics are not either.

PS - loved the pit crew.

  • Very creative - great ride! Lovely Arab too.

  • This is absolutely amazing, the horse did great with all the stuff going on around him and the "pit crew" was to die for.

  • loved the pitcrew! great concept for a freestyle pattern.

  • Ive seen this video everywhere on the internet (Bad-Riding and fugly horse) It depends who sees it and their own experience with reining. I think that the horse is no doubt well trained but the horse is too wound up and the pattern is sloppy, Lead changes are way off center and the spins after the beginnning looks like a helicopter about to take off, the horse kicks his hip out every turn. The horse looks on the bit and nothing is very subtle. Cute Idea.

  • this was a youth show so it's not gonna be perfect

  • i think for a little girl she did fantastic.

it was a great show that her and her horse put on, and the Cars theme is definately cute.

    good job!

  • im jealous lol

  • beatiful horse

  • im not trying to be rude at all but it seems like your really pulling on his mouth it looks like it is hurting your horse. and i know what i am talking about because i have a horse of my own. im not trying to be rude

  • I agree. Every equestrian sport is about not using the reins, its about subtle commands through the seat, legs, etc. That's why Stacy Westfall can do this bridleless, and David O'Connor does clinics where he jumps 4' courses bridleless.

  • Have you ever watched Arabians in performance classes? They go around with their necks arched like that all the time so if that's your beef, forget it. If you're talking about when she does the sliding stop, really forget it. She's barely got any pressure on the reins, it's all in her heels. Perhaps it was the horse that pulled?

  • wow, gorgeous horse. but you shouldn't use the reins too much, this is obviously hurting the horse

  • How do you teach a horse to slide stop. Mine just bucks! lol

  • special turf and slide plates

  • how does she ride backwards its amazing she probaly had alot of practise lol soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cool

  • @10savvy

Are u kidding? u dont know that a horse is able to go backwards? huh?

  • That horse is so well-balanced - amazing

  • a free style*

    :3

  • if i ever did ifree style id use

    Dont Stop by InnerPartySystem

    mrah! X3

  • i love this it is great and i am useing life is a highway for my freestyle because i have a race horse so it makes sense can wait

  • she should have wore a racing helmet! the sliding stop was not the prettiest I have ever seen but all in all it was a cute litlle performance!

  • he is gorgeous! he looks like he loves it but it looks a little painful like his mouth but it could be great!

  • I like the idea but she shouldn't use the reins so hard the horse is in pain in the moments she make sliding stops... look at his mouth...

But a little bit more trainng ad it will looks great...

  • zo, dat is flink in de teugels hangen! geloof niet dat je paard dat leuk gaat vinden.

  • isn't the sliding stop supposed to be with little to no rein contact? (see 3:55) looks a bit painful here

  • the gaping mouth does seem unnatural, the riding a bit fast and furious, like maybe the horse isn't having much fun, its ears are both back a lot

  • nice

  • horse is awesome!! girl's outfit not too good!

  • schelcht geritten vom aller feinsten....

und glaublich hängt den gaul nur in der fresse und sowas wird bejubbelt..

mein pferd läuft a reining aber nicht so wie das hier wenn man des hier reining nennen darf

  • just a suggestion..... try to get your lead changes a little smoother without the jump. um i know arabians can get excited but the performance would look more polished if the ride was a bit quieter and the horse's head consistently lower.

But you guys look like you're having a lot of fun

  • i love how the horse has a 95 painted on his hindquarters... that's adorable! i want to start show riding, but i don't have a horse. and all of my friends with horses use them to do shows... so i am horse-less... for now. i want one so friggen bad! this dancing horse... this show.. its amazing! i wish it was a better quality tho, but its amazing. :) i am so jealous of this girl. Arabs are my favorite, and i wish i had one. she's living my life.

  • OMG that's awesome!

  • This was genius! :D

  • i would love to do that

  • nice nice

  • wow, what a horse! he is absolutely gorgeous! amazing job.

  • looks like loads of fun ! beautifull arabian ! he would be magnificent is the dressage ring ! be a beautiful jumper 2 .. hahaha but he looks good as a reainer !

  • no wonder he'd probably be great in all of those disciplines, HE'S AN ARABIAN! lol

  • thats a really cool video!

  • Sorry for writing that, but I don't really like this run that much. I guess my opinion about a good reining is another than yours...

Btw: He isn't a dressage horse, is he?

  • this is so cute! Love the pitcrew too :) great job. looks like they're havin lots of fun :))

  • omg so cute! the horse is adorable! your friend and her horse definatly seem like they are having fun!

  • badass freestyle.

this horse would be an anwesome dressage horse

  • i love the pit people haha

  • This is so awesome...i would have never thought to do a free style like a race car...thats great!!

  • Awesome! Wat een teringwijf ben je, cool!

  • cute horse and theme! No offense but I don't rele think Arabians make great reiners. Quarter Horses, Paints, Apps, maybe but it was still a great pattern and I agree with the stops.

  • Yeah, I'm not impressed with this and the rider looks like she needs more work...but she'll get there in time. :)

  • Fun ride, but she's hauling his face off at the sliding stops.

  • @lldaigle

yeah i was gonna say the same thing, and in a couple of spins the horse was not spinning (im sorry but words desert me.) on its hind end.

  • Wouldn't it be amazing if you could do this Bridle-Less? Go for it!

  • like Stacy Westfall

she's a legend in freestyle reining, lol

  • so cute! i love it!

  • na araby se tenhle sport teda moc nehodí

  • Sooooo fricken adorable! I love it, love the race car theme! I dont ride western but it looks fun!

  • She may have placed because it was entertaing, it has happened to me before, they are suposed to stop by using legs

  • nice ride, i think she could've used a lil less rein on the sliding stop

  • Phenomenal! Cute! This is awesome!

  • wow tht arab looks just like mine lol wow tht looks sooo funn

  • great riding!!!

  • CUTE CUTE CUTE!!!!! Truly a very special horse. I love the way he moves. Looks like fun:)

  • that was a brilliant idea for her theme! loved how she backed in, that was different and unexpected...very cool video!

  • Love the idea!!! It was really creative!

    Beautiful horse too!

  • i saw this in person!

i wanna do freestyle reining soo bad!

  • Amazing! Really awesome, how well this Arab is trained. Only thing: Alex should work on her sliding stops with as little rein signal as possible. The horse shouldn´t have to open it´s mouth.

  • Ditto, but it was brilliant! So creative!! =D Awesome!

  • faved. cant get enough of this ^^

  • well trained =)

  • wow arabians sure are being bred BIG these days,.

  • Kind of depends on what brand you have, Egyp, Polish, Spanish, Russian ect, some could be 1/2 Arab.

  • AWESOME run!!! That was SO CREATIVE!!!

  • that was sweet

  • Love that arab!

  • that was awsome!

  • i think she was reserve. love this

  • yeah i was! :)

  • vevery animated arab great ride.

  • Super cute. So glad that this shows certain disciplines aren't meant for a specified breed.

  • that was seriously AMAZING. I LOVED it, it got my blood pumping and gave ME an adrenalin rush because I'm trying to hit the AHYNs this year with my arab to do freestyle....this was just great. Awesome job!

  • i love Arabians

they have a bad rep for being hot

but most just need the right rider, and this girl, Alex looks like she is a generally a good ride unlike the riders in the high circuts that get bought the perfect horse and really don't know how to ride a real horse ( a horse that is not perfectly trained). i really enjoy this video and i cannot wait til the arabian horse comes the scottsdale

    :)

  • thank you! thats me

  • GrEAT Job!
