I think they sound great, they were all masters of their instrument in their day and none of them have lost it. Fans just need to think of Queen + Paul Rodgers as a different band, of course it's not going to sound the same, he's still a wonderful singer.
Paul Rodgers does kick ass in the Freddy role. He has the range--but not quite the projection that Freddy had. Who really cares, though, queen kicks ass.
@grrruba "uneducated, piece of human being?" Let me guess--you're a negro. As a matter of fact, my mother is proud of me, I have a master's degree in english literature. Is your mammy proud of the fact that her negro son can't spell, and/or can't use contractions properly? Look, if you are going to try to insult someone properly, boy, then at least use proper english to do it. Otherwise, you will look like a moron. If you want to take me on, son, learn to spell first.
@hugopal Look darling, English is my third foreign language, so i do apologise for spelling mistakes. I am white and femail. You are not the sharpest tool in the drawer, are you? Congratulations on the dergee, but nothing will help your case if you act like an asshole. Good luck anyway with your phobias xxx
@grrruba I am truly sorry. I was having a few bad days. That does not excuse my horrid responses--I am truly sorry. Grruba--I was just dumped by some lady who...let's not get into it, but I am truly sorry for bringing my personal issues online, okay? I am truly sorry, if english is your third language, then god bless you, I am very sorry for being a dick. Please forgive me, I just got dumped, and if I were a gentleman I would have behaved as one. I am truly sorry.
If anyone can guarantee the continuation of Queen, it is Paul Rodgers.
Old as we all are, he has the pipes that can at least make us imagine Freddy is still here. Paul also has the ability to bring in the awesome Bad Company catalog so it's a bit of a 2-fer... Freddy lives on - but so does Queen and I will continue to listen.
You Rock Paul Rodgers! Thank you for keeping a slice of my youth alive.
Nothing can be compared to Queen. It's not just a rock band, it´s a really show. The life will take a long to create another group like this. How happy are the guys who saw Queen in this life...
The Tech Guys Obviously Buggared The P.A System Up... I Should Know!...There Was A Delay Between The Amps At The Front Of The Venue Compared To Those At The Back Of The Venue As Paul Had A Echo.
Ah he fluffed One Vision, but pulled out nicely with a spin. Never mind. Paul is the best thing that's happened to Queen, after all, we could have had that smeghead Robbie Williams
Haha the funniest mistake by Paul, he begins to sing the wrong verse but he spins around and pretends nothings gone wrong, brian knows though! 2mins 14secs, only true fans notice the mistakes, but the mistakes are what makes the concerts different and hey, Pauls alot better then all of us.... part from freddie of course!
Pauls trying to race the lyrics at 2:54 and throws the band out of time. It may be 'nit picking' but I have noticed quite a few lyrical mistakes by Paul. If an actor cant remember his lines he wont be in a job long!
I'm happy when I see them on the stage. Paul has good voice , Brian is a genius, and Roger master of the drums...and Freddie is in my heart forever.I can't wait to see the concert in Budapest. Thank you for the music Queen+ Paul Rodgers!!!
Hey guys c'moon! We REAL Queen fans have to understand that maybe we dont like a lot Paul but who knows? maybe Freddie wanted it this way that Queen will go on after he passed. And yes the songs sound a bit differen if we compare it with the Wembley. But that was over twenty years ago when they were all in there thirties and young. Now they are on theyr sixtees and a bit old. Dont go hard on them. They are doing theyr best. Try to be a bit optimistic. I'd rather choose this then no-Queen at all.
Can people cut the fucking nay saying of paul. i don't paticularly like the version of One Vision, but im looking past the mistakes and listening to it on the whole, not nit picking.
and The Show Must Go On was brilliant, its not "too slow" or "so-so", like some of you douches uoy there are saying.
**rant over**
im sorry to have never been able to get tickets to see queen live, or be aware of freddie in 1989-1991,ive always had queen played to me as a child. this concerts ROCKS!
Oh come on it was the first time they played One vision with Paul live. They can't play it exactly the same like Wembley...it wasn't bad. I'm sure their tour will be graet. Can't wait to see the concert in Berlin..:)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Brian May is a huge boyhood hero of mine. I loved Queen as a kid and in my teens. But this, I don't get. It's not PR. They're just lacking power. Contrast this with the Wembley version of One Vision. This has no oomph. And why is Brian playing the intro differentley? God I wish he'd just sit down and listen to Queen II and be reminded of how he can REALLY play. I get embarrassed watching him these days.
I've yet to hear the album. I'm not gonna say he never impresses me these days. I LOVE those early Queen albums. No one could touch BM back then. Check 1:12. You can hear a duff chord. But he tries here to play the intro with full maj chords instead of just sticking to the power chords that he would normally play on this live. I know it was just a mistake but I dunno, he just doesn't do it for me. This sounds badly under rehearsed. Not somethng Freddie would have stood for.
Paul Rodger better not cock up when I see them at the O2, by the way David Mallet is going to be recording one concert from the tour, so that means there will be a dvd and cd, yea
I think Paul Rodgers is playing with it too much... all these "feelings" are too much, maybe he would do better if he sings straighter. I´m happy that Q+PR are touring again and play again that great music, but if I listen to "The Show Must Go On" on this performance, I´ve got to say that PR kills it completely.
Yeah i totally agree he needs to sing the songs straighter, don't like him much anyway, what a cock up at 2:14, the guy makes an ass of Brian and Roger
Yes... but I don´t think that especially 2:14 is the worst thing on it - Freddie did mistakes too ;-) But I´ve enough of these "Yeah, yeah" and other voice onanies. It´s a pity, because he´s got a great voice... but the more I listen to them, the more I think it wasn´t a good choice to union with him.
haha did anyone notice that paul rodgers was about to sing the middle 8 of the song, "i had a dream" at 2.13, he dosent even know the bloody lyrics, lack of practice boys....
Freddie himself wrote the lyrics: "The Show Must Go On!" and he, above all us, would want it to. It'll never be the original again, and Paul isn't stepping into Freddie's place after Freddie was ousted from the band or something. He died! He's gone! He can't come back! What else can they do? Paul has an AMAZING voice I think Freddie would have loved and I think he's looking down from Heaven, blessing this musical union.
so glad the boys have played one vision again. couple of errors on it but im sure if they open with it on new tour it will be perfect. can't wait to see them at sheffield.
lewisfall,i agree, Rodgers is a fantastic singer and hes his own man,i mean he was around before Freddie and to sing like he can at his age is amazing, how people have got to look at it is what would you prefere Rodgers who does it his own way or someone like robbie williams whos a freddie wannabe and cant sing and he would just be a bad impersonater of frddie so i no which id preferer.
Look, I'd rather have Freddie Mercury singing here than Paul Rodgers. You got to agree with that... Only he's dead... But Queen isn't nearly as good without him. And not only that, John Deacon isn't there either... 4 new people, only 2 Queen people left. It's just not Queen anymore. It's a new band with two people from Queen.
this concert was amazing! I was right at the front in the gold circle... Yes literally- i cld have touched bryan may lol! Well worth 165quid and waiting 8 hours to get in. Obv pr is not the same as freddie but he did a superb job and sang the songs in his own way. Btw they did alot more songs than were televised... Went on for a hour at least!
One vision weren't great, TYMD was better, Show must go on was totally amazing however, esp the way he sings the first verse, really great version of the song.
I think it's really good that PR is doing his own thing with the songs, but I think he does it too much. Specially with the rythmic of the lyrics. When you have a song like "Show Must Go On" which has so deep lyrics and so much meaning, you have got to stick to the basic things that makes the song brilliant. PR is a great singer, but in this performence he "over did it"
the worst thing is to find a sosie of a classic singer... as Journey made it in their very last album... with Paul they can use another way... and by the way this man wzs in 2 of the most exciting band of the late 60s and 70s... he is one of the last singer on earth who can do more than a descent job with the old precious Queen
I think that it doesn´t matter that there are mistakes. Each time I hear an old Queen song in a new coat, I´m glad and especially One Vision, this "high-energy" song, I wanted to hear again. I´m sure that if Queen choose to play this song on their european tour, it will be much more better... It would be a great opening song, as it was on the last Queen tour in 1986
Ok, so there's a couple of mistakes and some people on here are knocking dear old Paul, but come on guys.......this is better than having no Queen at all. The band sound great (huge even) and I'm sure that by the time the tour comes around, it will be pretty much spotless! Freddie would approve of this I'm sure.
totally agree, if it wasnt for Paul (who by the way DOES have a great voice) you'd just be stuck with your memories but as it is you have the chance to still see unbeatable rock like this - roll on Q+PR 2208 and people who knock them using Paul wanna shut the fuck up
You star! I could hear all this stuff behid the Stephen Fry interview during ITV's laughable attempt to broadcast this. First time I've ever wanted Stephen Fry to shut up.
Lmao nice! I do notice that he appears to be going for "I had a dream..." though it still sounds like he says "ALRIGHT!"
On a side note, it reminds me of how at Live Aid, Roger Daltrey went to sing "I move myself and my family aside, if we happened to be left out alive!" at the TOTALLY wrong part of Won't Get Fooled Again.
it's not "Ahhhng...ALRIIIIGHT! I'm gonna tell you there's no Black and no White!"; he was going to sing the part "i had a dream....", and realized he was wrong!
i think that one vision is a fantastic song to open the concerts of this tour, but of course paul has to practise the song abit more. however his voice isnt so bad...
Thanks for posting this up so fast David we are using your clips in our news section on the aussie queens website - any chance of you getting up the amy whitehouse bit and the Andrea Corr stuff for us. The stuff that is up in here for those sections are pretty crappy. I am sure you can do better than what others have put up on here. Anyway kudos to you from downunder
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! ITV only showed We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions so I never saw this. But thanks for uploading it :D
THX to Dave for getting this into the Tube without delay. South Africa arose from the ashes, with the vision & courage of NM. Now, lets look to the future of Persia arising. Lets do it for Freddie!
Queen without Freddie isn't the same...give me a break! Of course it isn't the same... Freddie's dead! People who keep saying Rodgers is no match for Freddie just further prove what I've always thought: A lot of Queen fans aren't fans of music. You people really wind me up! Freddie was Freddie, Paul is Paul. He's not trying to be Freddie and this Queen incarnation isn't trying to be the Queen of old. It's something new...maybe that's why these people don't like it?!
In a lot of ways I agree with you. Thats interesting and quite possible that people don't see past the spectacle. People usually have a hard time when something from their past kinda changes on them, they find it hard to separate them. Like the new Indiana Jones movie.
das erste lied " one vision " war echt noch hart verkackt man^^ aber danach als sie warm wurden haben sie natürlich wieder alles gerockt da , ich glaub auch das ein schöner moment für nelson mandela in diesem konzert .. happy birthday !
Freddie was a hard act to follow-Paul does a reasonable version-better than no Queen methinks-always thought George Michael would have been a good replacement for Freddie-not the same but another showman
Esto no es Queen ://

Oh F** no he isn't, But who is going to be? Fair attempt though...
Eponine2008 3 years ago 2
Paul isnt trying to be Freddie, because he know no one can.
So, stop saying he's not Freddie and all that shit!
StSolidSnake 3 years ago 2
the worst thing is to find a sosie of a classic singer... as Journey made it in their very last album... with Paul they can use another way... and by the way this man wzs in 2 of the most exciting band of the late 60s and 70s... he is one of the last singer on earth who can do more than a descent job with the old precious Queen

With this video quality, Brian looks exactly the same as he did back in the day!

I think that it doesn´t matter that there are mistakes. Each time I hear an old Queen song in a new coat, I´m glad and especially One Vision, this "high-energy" song, I wanted to hear again. I´m sure that if Queen choose to play this song on their european tour, it will be much more better... It would be a great opening song, as it was on the last Queen tour in 1986
Braddeyy 3 years ago
Ok, so there's a couple of mistakes and some people on here are knocking dear old Paul, but come on guys.......this is better than having no Queen at all. The band sound great (huge even) and I'm sure that by the time the tour comes around, it will be pretty much spotless! Freddie would approve of this I'm sure.
stickswiper 3 years ago 5
totally agree, if it wasnt for Paul (who by the way DOES have a great voice) you'd just be stuck with your memories but as it is you have the chance to still see unbeatable rock like this - roll on Q+PR 2208 and people who knock them using Paul wanna shut the fuck up
mikeuk1970 3 years ago
me too i cant wait to see them in cardiff this year it is going to be awesome. cant wait for rock the cosmos
kahuna390 3 years ago
This actually got me pretty excited to see them in November. Mistakes happen after all and they still were awesome regardless. :)

You star! I could hear all this stuff behid the Stephen Fry interview during ITV's laughable attempt to broadcast this. First time I've ever wanted Stephen Fry to shut up.

I think that guitar opening for One Vision is the best opening guitar part in the world

so god thank u Paul is human... perfection is sometimes freaky
BohemianConspiracy 3 years ago

Terrible delay on the voice at "Tie your mother down" and "Show must go on". Gonna see them in Hannover, Germany!
Chromatic2007 3 years ago
did pretty well considering the set up is TERRIBLE. can't wait for the tour!
lucrativeelfmongrel 3 years ago
ROUUUUUGH beginning from Brian but he pulled it together quickly!
Also, Paul's HILARIOUS forgetting of the lyrics at 2:14 "Ahhhng...ALRIIIIGHT! I'm gonna tell you there's no Black and no White!"
Also, embarassing how the voices messed up "And a dark wind falls" at 3:02.
All in all, a very powerful but very sloppy version of a great tune.
Woohoo5241 3 years ago 4
I'm sure it'll all be ironed out when the tour kicks off! xD
SirSIither 3 years ago
it's not "Ahhhng...ALRIIIIGHT! I'm gonna tell you there's no Black and no White!"; he was going to sing the part "i had a dream....", and realized he was wrong!

3 stars. Not bad on the other ones, but on "The show must go on" the difference is abysmal.

Queen are amazing, always have been and forever will be, Paul is ace but he will never be another Freddie Mercury.
I love one vision, fantastic song.
I'm going to see these in October :D:D:D

i think that one vision is a fantastic song to open the concerts of this tour, but of course paul has to practise the song abit more. however his voice isnt so bad...

I am not happy to say this... don't blame me... but One Vision sucks here.

Paul ruined one vision...learn the words. Its not that difficult. I'm usually a fan of Pauls but if he does this on the tour i won't be happy.

THX to Dave for getting this into the Tube without delay. South Africa arose from the ashes, with the vision & courage of NM. Now, lets look to the future of Persia arising. Lets do it for Freddie!

But these is not Queen. Is Brian, Roger, Paul & another guys.
DanyrockQueen 3 years ago 2
Yes, but I dig this very much.
Why do people have to keep lamenting? Thats not something Freddie would do.
tayloreh 3 years ago 3
Queen without Freddie isn't the same...give me a break! Of course it isn't the same... Freddie's dead! People who keep saying Rodgers is no match for Freddie just further prove what I've always thought: A lot of Queen fans aren't fans of music. You people really wind me up! Freddie was Freddie, Paul is Paul. He's not trying to be Freddie and this Queen incarnation isn't trying to be the Queen of old. It's something new...maybe that's why these people don't like it?!
LewisFall 3 years ago 2
In a lot of ways I agree with you. Thats interesting and quite possible that people don't see past the spectacle. People usually have a hard time when something from their past kinda changes on them, they find it hard to separate them. Like the new Indiana Jones movie.
tayloreh 3 years ago 3
how freddie would of enjoyed this.
RIP Freddie

ke emozione quell'assolo iniziale di One Vision, mi viene la pelle d'oca a pensare all'entrata di Freddie sul palco nell'86!!!

Coverage of Queen was totally crap - guess they had to be fair to the other artists.
Somehow am not as keen as the last tour, but am looking forward to hearing the new stuff.

das erste lied " one vision " war echt noch hart verkackt man^^ aber danach als sie warm wurden haben sie natürlich wieder alles gerockt da , ich glaub auch das ein schöner moment für nelson mandela in diesem konzert .. happy birthday !

Freddie was a hard act to follow-Paul does a reasonable version-better than no Queen methinks-always thought George Michael would have been a good replacement for Freddie-not the same but another showman
