Like when someone takes a picture of a friend on public land, you do not then have to go to each person in the background and ask for their permission to be in the background. Of a film crew filming, they do not then have to search each person in the background to ask for their permission. Plus you could say what you want to the google man/woman, he/she can't do anything and nothing will change if you do, he/she is not high enought, he/she is only doing a job to support them selfs.
It's not illegal to film or take photos on public land. He does not need any concent of anyone to take images on public land, only private land. It's cool in one way, but bad if you accidently stupid (trip over) and get filmed.
If you look at Google maps you will notice they blur people's faces
I don't know how the cameras work but by looking at the photos they seem to snap shots every 20 yards or so.
I imagine the camera uses GPS to know when it needs to take the next photo. That way when they are traveling fast they take lots of pictures and when they are at a stop light they just take one.
We have a new version in Holland which is the most precise in the world and has just been taken into use this week. It`s called streetmapping 360. Very cool technology.
Hi Les, I'm from Bath, although this is very curious - and well done for capturing it - I'd be horrified if a company from the USA installed fixed cameras to monitor personal activity at street level, such would be an even greater intrusion than a national ID card. So if you spot any fixed Google cameras - or hear any local news about the prospect of them being installed - please let me know!
I seen you !!! Brilliant
