What I saw for myself there underscores her message:

The undemocratic impulse, globally, when it comes to indigenous cultures: pervert good governance

-by consulting [throw stacks of documents at the community, without explaining it]

-or never be transparent [none in the community knows what the documents says].... sometimes the other but not the latter.

Democratic governance demands both transparency AND consultation!

Without both accountability is dead on arrival.

She's being a bit harsh, yes there were residential schools but for her to say that the Canadian govt is still pulling kids out of families is blatantly wrong.

I am hopeful that these people of the 4th world are treated better than those from the 3rd.

If one looks in the U.S. Constitution things are much more difficult for indigenous people since there is a prohibition on removing states or re-assigning their borders. Essentially the must be either a Constitutional Amendment for these rules to be changed (unlikely to get required state authorization); or there must be certain states that are assigned for tribes; or most likely: revolution...

That is impossible now, there are too many people living up there who are not native,.Having a massive migration of that nature would only add to the human suffering, There are also people who live in Europe as well, the land is limited and it would be doubtful that those countries would accept thousands, or even millions of immigrants at once. At this point in time the only good thing that could be done is to live in peace and try to coexist and have mutual understanding and respect.
