  • my hero

  • Hes the one that should have won the noble prize.

  • @qsmile I agree.

  • stop yelling yuh qweer

  • my senator, my voice, my friend, my heroe.

    Democracy at its best!

    Rock on Senator Duane.

  • my senator, my voice, my friend , my heroe! Democracy at its best. rock on senator Duane!

  • one idiot voted against the bill after all that

  • Powerful.

  • I always cringe when republicans treat HIV-AIDS with such sneering disdain to the point that people have to react like this to remind people why we are fighting for this.

HIV-AIDS is a human health issue, not a gay health issue. it is not a gay illness, as many heterosexuals have it to.

but republicans generally refuse to act upon legeslation because they view it was a homosexual virus... until brave me stand up and do what tom did, and kick their asses back to reality, and from their hate

  • coryashire- you saying republicans dont care about HIV is very ignorant. all of the republicans in the senate with the exception of one voted for the bill proposed by senator Duane

  • He has all the reason to be angry.

It is very conforting to know that there still are some people with principles in politics.

  • Steinbeck said of angry people, "I think any young man or any man who isn't angry at one time or another is a waste of time. No. No. Anger is a symbol of thought, evaluation and reaction. Without it what have we got? I'm tired of non angry people."

  • Senator Duane can be respected for "Standing Up" but that's doesn't require so much anger. I'm glad he's always helped those with HIV/AIDS. Anger may have been appropriate in the context of the Senate chamber that day, but I doubt his colleagues would be persuaded by such a rant.

  • They were persuaded enough to vote 52 to 1 to pass his measure.

  • Good to see that passion is alive and well! Good work Tom!!!

  • Good for the Senator. These are cold, hard facts that people and the Senate need to hear.

  • Let's not blame all of AIDS on the Republicans.

I remember those early years and I don't remember Ed Koch being all that eager to assist the crisis in NYC.

  • who gives a rat's ass.

everyone should pay up $20.00 and that will shut the mouth of the senator up because then the government can operate 0 without any need of this bullshit.

    waltercwood

  • Thank you Senator, for standing up.

  • Dane Tidwell thinks the president is elected by the popular vote. LMAO. Check his youtube. Popular vote LMAO

  • That, people is a hero.

  • Thanks for caring senator and to the skeptics below everyone deserves a home and quality of life whether its AIDS, Cancer, Mental Illness, etc-"a society is judged by how we treat the weakest amongst us"...

  • i would need someone here to spell out for me 2 scenarios, 1 where this senator gets 100 percent of what he wants and the other where the senator gets 80 percent of what he wants because it isn't clear to me. he's saying what he predict's gonna happen if he doesn't get what he wants. fine, but give us the other side of the coin too

  • Does anyone else see this bill as reverse discrimination? Why should people be getting a break on their rent because they contracted a preventable disease? Anyone heard of safe sex or clean needles????

  • benk 999, some people acquire it via rape

  • the percentage of people who have acquired hiv through rape is a very small percent. the vast majority got it through unprotective consensual sex

  • Maybe now that abstinence only rhetoric has been eliminated from the US educational system.

People once said that women who got raped were asking for it. Your statement sounds just as judgmental. We ARE our brothers' keepers.

  • I like how the lady in the pink behind him makes a face and looks like she rolls her eyes at 6:24, then proceeds to sit down and surf the internet on her phone. Does anyone know who she is? It'd be nice to contact her and tell her how disgusting her attitude is towards people less fortunate than her.

  • You are our Cicero, Senator.

    Thank you.

  • Thank you Senator.

  • This is the best speech I've ever heard.

If all politicians cared about people instead of caring about corporations, the US would be a real good place to live.

  • I have known and loved Tom Duane since I met him in 1984. This man is a power of example for all who need a lesson in service. Thanks for speaking the truth, Tom.

  • Thank you. There is still a fight.

  • What a wonderful person he is. He really cares.

  • Thank you for representing the Citizens of america and do your job. Being the voice of those who can't be there to speak up. People forget that the People are the government. We are the one's who can change everything. It angers me that the poloticians sell out and don't care about the citizens.

  • Thank You. We will have a health care system in the US. No insurance industry lies or politicians cowardice will prevent that. Go Tom!

  • Thank you, Sen. Tom Duane, for saying what is important to all of us.

  • Bravo

  • THIS IS WHAT A PATRIOT LOOKS LIKE

  • Thank you Senator.

  • Thank you Senator Duane

  • This is great, I encourage all of you to share this

  • "You're not killing my bill, you're killing PEOPLE."

I think everyone needs the fire to tell senators that it's NOT about petty infighting. It's about CITIZENS. Why are they there? THey're supposed to represent Americans and fight for them.

  • Thank You Tom Duane, very very much.

  • Thanks!

  • You are a beast Kiki.

  • Tom Duane is a good man.

  • Amazing speech.

"I thought I'd be dead, and so did so many people that I knew. Dead! You think you scare me? You think you can make be back off? Nothing scares me."

  • Outstanding. His courage and vision deserve the highest praise, but I was especially riveted by his deliver. "DEAD! DEAD! DEAD!" Yes, that's the spirit we need in Albany, Washington, and elsewhere. No more BSing! Stand up and do your jobs!

  • This is a stunning display of the courage and conviction that all politicians should have, but very very few do. This guy is a true public servant. God bless him.

  • Amazing. American hero.

  • I Like this man.

  • It made me cry.

  • People with aids are crying out in vain all over the world, and know one is hearing.

  • Tom Duane speaks up for me. Thank you, my hero.

  • I worked for this man in NYC. Tom Duane is my hero.

  • This speech knocked me out! I've never heard a more

powerful, heartfelt speech. Yes, Tom Duane is a hero!

    THANK YOU, TOM!!!

  • Hero. Thank you.

  • congrats Tom.. one of your former colleagues priced out of NYC!

  • Wow, I got chills watching that. I've never heard of the guy - but he is a true American hero. Someone with true guts and integrity. He is total backbone - amazing.

  • wish we had someone like mr. duane in germany

  • I love you Tom. Thanks for fighting for all of us

  • WOW!!! Thank GOD! Despite all the craziness and ego in the New York State Senate right now, ti's SO GREAT to see Tom Duane at hard work. YAY!!!!!!!! I wish he represented me, so I could vote for him all over again.

  • Very powerful speech. When he sits down at the end spontaneous applause erupts as the whole chamber stands up. Thank you Tom Duane!

  • This guy's a crazed madman

  • The stench of rotting flesh will do that to a man. If only there were more such"crazed madmen".

  • This is powerful, this is extraordinary. I am speechless.

If ALL politicians were guided by such principles, the world would be a pretty good place to live.

  • show ur true colors, tom.i feel ur pain and keep putting those narrow-minded,ignorant people in their place.

    03:41,thats classic! lol!

  • the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

  • Thank you Tom. Keep fighting the good fight.

  • thank you Tom! we need more honest and passion filled leaders like you.
