@hardyboyz6500 its becasue europe paid more than in brazil! - and then Itlay and Spain were nice warm countries. You'd find it hard to stand english weather if you grew up in Rio de Janeiro!
Yes, all these organizations are in league with FIFA, and FIFA itself is a corrupted organization, and Pele spent decades sucking up to them. Man, all the greatest football legends, that means real players..not some half ass journalists, said that Maradona is the greatest, and so did people. I saw a guy from ENGLAND who didn't care about hand of God, and travelled to Italy to see Maradona play. Pele is a player, Maradona is football.
You know, there are many sports channels with Brazilian league matches. Dude, I like Brazilian football and Brazilian players, they have some of the best individuals in every era..but be objective, Brazilian league is not even close to Primera, Premiership and Serie A. Like I said, they can win a match, but play whole season against European defenses...no way :). And yes, I love football and I watch it, but that doesn't mean FIFA is not corrupted. You are a nationalist, therefore subjective. END
At World Cup 1994 in the last 16 match between Brazil and USA, Leonardo was sent off for a malicious elbow to the head of Tab Ramos which left him with a fracture to his skull.
I guess ord1711 is saying that he'll never forget this incident and he is calling Leonardo a thug.
Maradona = 260 gols Zico = 820 gols Maradona = 1 world title (national team) Zico = 1 world title (Flamengo) Maradona = 2 dopings Zico = 0 Maradona = 2 national championships (0 in argentina) Zico = 6 national Maradona = 0 Libertadores Cup Zico = 1 Libertadores HAHAHAHA... Maradona é a lie created by argentins and many people followed.
It is unfortunate because we're using team titles to gauge the talents of individuals.
But all of these guys, Pele, Maradona, Cruyff, Di Stefano, Baggio, Platini etc, winners or not were the leaders of their teams. When they lead their team to World Cup glory, it's a memory that sticks with us forever, so we're likely to hold that in high regard.
It's worse for someone like George Best, unbelievable talent yet he never had a hope of winning a World Cup purely because of his nationality.
Finally, a person that understands football. I agree, it is unfortunate. But still, it is a thing that separates real legends from only great or even outstanding players. To be a legend you need the talent, you need the skill, perseverance, the style and the trophies. All the legends have it, Maradona, Zidane, Ronaldo, Platini...it's not by accident all those players had great careers and won both european cups and national team trophies, and all of them decided finals of those competitions.
I pity you for your stupidity. Maradona played in strongest leagues in the world, he was fouled by people in a way that would be judged as a red card today, and he took many such fouls every game. Idiot, he won all the major trophies with mediocre teams...he won everything with Napoli, against Milan(and they had probably the best team in the history of club football then), Juventus and all other teams. Zico's talented Brazil didn't win the world cup then. Who did? Maradona with average team.
Brazil has the best football in the world. In the 80's, lazy europeans + Asians + arabs weren't buying teenagers brazilians players. Our National Championship was the strongest in the world. Zico won 4 in 7 years.
You are an idiot. Brazil always had best individuals, but their league is even today below Europe, especially back then. Idiot, Maradona won 2 Italian championships, and Italian league was by far the best league in the world then, with fucking Napoli, and he also won UEFA cup. Where was your mega talented Brazil 1986.? Maradona won that championship with average team. Where was Brazil 1990.? Injured Maradona dribbled 3 of them and passed to Caniggia for goal. Idiot, shoot yourself.
Brazilian league is weak? hahahaha... Good joke. How can the biggest players factory in the world have a weak league? Any 18 years old boy is better than Europe players... And the rich teams buy them one year, but in the next season there will be another boy as good as the other. And so on... WHY all of the best European teams has 50 - 90% of foreigners players? Now can you imagine in the 80's, with limits for foreigners ? Worst legues in the world...
Idiot, they are individuals...and most of them never make it in Europe. Brazil has great individuals, but none of their teams would be able to play entire season in any of the strong European leagues.
How many words do you know besides "idiot". Do you call everybody idiot? Every conversation of yours finish with you calling the others as idiots? How many games have you ever seen of Brazil ou Argentina leagues? So you think that a player only can be good if he do well in Europe? How many europeans did well here in South America? You don't count MANY factors, you ignore language, clime and cultural differences. You ignore love for home land, home food... Who is idiot now? You only think on you
Of course, world cup is the strongest competition, but every team can have good streak of games..not every team or not every player can consistently be good. For instance, Miroslav Klose scored 2x5 goals, and for me, he is not really among the top strikers. I will tell you one thing though..best Brazilian player ever is Ronaldo. He has it all, trophies, style, comebacks from injuries, best stats in last 50 years in Europe, and all that with third of his career injured.
Ronaldo is one of the bests in all times. But Pelé is stronger for sure. He made 4 gols in the world Cup with 17 years old. He made more 1300 gols and provided twice as this other players. He won 3 world cups... Magic... Before Ronaldo we have Garrincha too, anos alien of world football.
Pele is not even among top 5 Brazilian players. Yes, he was great, but he never went to strongest leagues because he was afraid, and later spoke it was because his love for Brazil...the guy is in love with himself, thinks he is the best for all times, and thinks that he can judge other players. And btw...Pele's 1300 goals include goals scored in the army and in amateur games. As far as Brazil national team statistics go...he is no better than Romario and Ronaldo, and they played modern football.
Belive me, I problably have much more age and footbal culture than you. Pelé was God!!! And how many games of him did you see? Ho many games of Brazilian league? You are 100% wrong. We have the most difficult championship... Why don't you try to see same games BEFORE to say things like this? Brazilian teams betted European almost 100% of matches... Make a research, you will see...
They beat them in Intercontinental cups and similar games...that's few games a year man. I'm just saying...it's really hard to suceed playing 50 games a year in Europe where defenders are tough, in Maradona's era they were ruthless, today football is much more a physical game, but many referees still tolerate fouls. I know the stats, don't worry...I'm just saying, most Brazilian players don't have what it takes to play 50+games a season against toughest defenders.
Man, seriously...we need to stop discussion xD..we both have strong opinions, and I don't think that will change. Don't get me wrong, Brazil is my favourite team in the world, but European club football is just on the higher level. As for Pele...he is nowhere near Ronaldo, Maradona, Zidane, Platini...Pele is a grandmaster of football who spent his career playing great footballers, to be a legend, you need to beat THE BEST 10,15 or 20 years, like the above footballers.
My firend you are completly wrong. Pele was the best player ever. When he played in Brazil 1958-1973sh Brazilian players hardly ever left the country. If Brazil was the best country in the sport at the time already(as it is now) he played agaisn't the best.
Shut up, moron..Pele was a great player, but a sad human being, known to spit players in the face on the pitch, when things didn't go his way. Only thing is, he spent years sucking up in the ass of one of the most corrupted organizations in the world, FIFA, and made a legend of himself. He is not even in top 10 of all times. And European teams god "destroyed" because after a long season, they don't really give a crap about one match..no Brazilian team can win a full 38 matches league in Europe.
this thunderer guy is dumb. the brazilian league is one of the best leagues in the world, but it isn't as popular as the others thats why people don't think their teams are good
Below top European leagues..yes, of course it is. No Brazilian team has a chance winning Premiership, Serie A or Primera, trust me. They can win one game, but a whole season in Europe, no way.
Croatian league sucks ass..everybody knows that, and people shouting PELE, PELE are uneducated nationalists who know shit about football. For a country with less than 5 million people, we have many talented players, but you don't see them play, because leagues are full of corruption, even for second division, parents of these kids have to raise huge loans, so they can pay the coach and the club if their child wishes to play. And btw, best European leagues>Brazilian league. Go suck Pele's dick.
Man, I feel sorry for your stupidity, it is because of people like you this world sucks, extreme nationalists, religious fanatics or whatever. Pele never played entire season in Europe you idiot, and if he did, he would not score half goals he did in Brazil..you really don't understand that most European clubs don't care about those matches. Idiot, Brazilian defenders can't compare to European, and most strikers in your league can't be half as good against a properd defence.
Seriously man, you are a moron, just like people here in Croatia, nobody has any objectivity..it's all so subjective. I can understand that you are from Brazil and that you love your country, but face it man, most of those teams don't have to quality to play 20,30 or 50 matches in a row on the highest, world class level..and many teams in TOP European leagues do that every season.
Moron, my country is beautiful, only people are retarded, at least we have our own language. And yes, I watched Brazilian league matches..Ronaldo is my favorite player. No team there has quality to play 38 season matches in top 3 or 5 European leagues and finish in top 5, especially not defenders..so don't talk smart. I love Brazilian players, but sorry, your league is just not as strong as top European leagues. I respect Zico, just saying Maradona, Ronaldo, Zidane and some others are better.
I respect Zico, he was a great player, and if he had played in Europe his whole life, maybe he could have been one of the legends. But tell me one thing, how come only a glimpse of his talent could be seen in Europe? I will tell you, it is because he was playing against much weaker teams his whole life. Like I said, maybe if he had been in Europe earlier, he would won something major...this way, he is just one more Brazilian legend not recognized on international level.
You are not educated. You offend people that disagree with you, like Nazis. Are you a Nazist?
For your information: UEFA is almost nothing, second class teams. Italian league was very week, there was a limit for foreigners. More then 50% of the games ware 0 x 0. And Flamengo beated Liverpool by 3 x 0 in the world championship. Who was weak?
Good God Damn..and other such phrases, ain't seen a free-kick like that 4 ages....nah, I gotta long-standing love 4 Brazilian football from the 30's up till about 1990-96..that's when the rest of the world caught up and they seemed to let themselves down. Anyway, Zico is totally forgotten about when people talk about their best ever players. YES to Pele, YES to Maradona, Best, Cryuff, Zidane..sometimes. But the Z'ster is rite up there....no messin'..the guy is a fudging legend. Remember Eder?

The Brazilian team lead by Zico in 1982 (and even 1986) was one of the most spectacular teams of all time.
Had this team won a World Cup, Zico would be undisputed alongside Pele and Maradona.
Zico and Maradona went head to head in Italy, also Platini. Three real legends of the game.
tol9at 2 years ago
I agree 100%.
Unfortunaly "won a cup" is used to compare players. Many obscure guys did it. And some spetaculars did not: Zico, Platini, Puskas, Croyff...
But remember: Zico made more gols with the head than Maradona in the total.
