Is this her Whitney impersonation? It's as if she's trying to create the illusion that she's singing with restraint and has this larger, heavier voice that she's holding back in reserve for the inevitable 'soulful' belting - which never arrives (though she tries), But actually, she's almost singing at full stretch for most of the song.

It's really proficient and well rehearsed though, no doubt.

Lyrics are an important part of music, but it isn't the most important (as is proven by most jazz music which is mostly just a compilation of instruments and a scatting vocal) Beautiful music is a product of many different variables, lyrics being only one of them. This song makes up for the lyrics with all its other parts. Its fine if you don't like it, but utter garbage is a little over the top imo.
