This is one of the rather tame bits—and it's certainly much more frightening to experience for oneself, hopefully immersed. I can assure you that this game is intensely atmospheric.

@ZachyCraft What makes Amnesia scary is the atmosphere and that feeling that you're being hunted. It's not like F.E.A.R. or Doom (I haven't played Doom since the first one in '95 so I'm not sure here) where you have guns and you just shoot and you're good to go.
When I first saw the monster, I screamed my head off. I'm so glad that thing vanishes. I saw it just standing at a door for a little bit, trying to see if it would just disapeer. I didn't. It would've patroled back so I went behind the wall. It was gone. :D

Dead Space is an action game, not a horror game. Amnesia is dark, psychological, and subtle in how it employs it's horror methods. By all means, Dead Space had a few actually scary moments, but Amnesia is one non-stop ride of horror. It's sad, because Dead Space has the best setting I can possibly think of for a horror game: space.

We're not adapted to space. Hell you can't survive more than a minute in space if you don't have oxygen working with you.

@Corrosive1 The problem with the Dead Space series is that it doesn't use gore to it's advantage. Every enemy gets ripped open like their skin is made out of biscuits or something, and when a human turns into a Necromorph, there's absolutely no emotional depth to it. It would be a whole lot scarier if it focused less on the ridiculous baby monsters and chainsaws and more on the environment of space and claustrophobic horror. Think about it, their really is no setting scarier than space.
As soon as I heard the narrator talking, I instantly thought it was Toby Turner from @Tobuscus and @TobyGames ... I cracked up and the game appeared less scary... UNTIL I SAW THAT THING WALKNG ABOUT.... what the hell was that???

PFFT. This looks stupid as hell, you can't even see the enemies! Dead Space 2 is much scarier than this shit! I'll give it a try, but it'll be a waste of my time!

Dead Space is an action game, not a horror game. Amnesia is dark, psychological, and subtle in how it employs it's horror methods. By all means, Dead Space had a few actually scary moments, but Amnesia is one non-stop ride of horror. It's sad, because Dead Space has the best setting I can possibly think of for a horror game: space.

@Slide2671 Meh, space is overused. I mean yeah it's scary but there's something about Amnesia i like more. Besides, 1839, some dark partially abandoned castle in eastern Prussia surrounded by a deep, dark, wild, forest?

@SarethZhukov314 Don't get me wrong, Amnesia's setting is fucking horrific. And yeah, space is overrused. It's just not used right. Think about it, on Earth, we are adapted to surviving. If your getting chased by a monster in the woods, you still have a chance of survival, seeing you still have oxygen, movement, and years of experience on your side. But space? We're not adapted to space. Hell you can't survive more than a minute in space if you don't have oxygen working with you.

@MrAbyan21 Haha, I was literally saying it to myself when I was being chased in the dungeons by a monster with a massive erection. After running into a room, blocking the door with a barrel, I crouched in the corner while the monster tore down the door and LITERALLY started praying.
It was only later on when I realized that the front of my underwear was really warm.

@Slide2671 lol i played this game by my cousins house hes like 19 n im 16, so we were playing n then the frikking footsteps started i was like: pfff nothin much but then the whole screen was black n i was like god damn it plz plz plz plz dont let a monster pop out of nowhere plz plz plz god oh my god! then monster came and i seriously jumped up and ran like 5 meter from the TV! n my cousin ran out of the room lol!

@Slide2671 thats cos DS2 sucks ass, it's ruined with all the lights and dialogs and funny shit like the running baby monsters that are totally ridiculous. DS1 is way more scarier because of the claustrophobic feeling and everything.

@Corrosive1 The problem with the Dead Space series is that it doesn't use gore to it's advantage. Every enemy gets ripped open like their skin is made out of biscuits or something, and when a human turns into a Necromorph, there's absolutely no emotional depth to it. It would be a whole lot scarier if it focused less on the ridiculous baby monsters and chainsaws and more on the environment of space and claustrophobic horror. Think about it, their really is no setting scarier than space.

In another manner of speaking, he or she used "They" in it's singular, instead of the Plural.
