  • People always wanna talk shit, punk rock is awesome and so is eddie. Can't see why people have to be idiots about it

  • that song is something else punk was punk eddie was

    first cat a hard-rock player...

  • punk rock should be respected its 50 years old and if you cant respect that you shouldnt respect rock think about it you know

  • Of course Eddie's was better, no debating that unless your tone deaf or braindead

  • Rock n Roll=Eddie Cochrane....nothin more to say

  • the big the fast the hard better that elvis

  • True talent

  • I WOULD RATHER SEE HIM ROLL UP WITH JOE.

  • Guys like Eddie and The Hamburg era Beatles were the punk of their day and they influenced punk in that they weren't strictly just fight government they were fighting the theatrical aspect that rock had obtained and they were taking it back to its roots. Johnny Rotten would even tell you he was tremendously influenced by rockabilly and roots reggae equally.

  • If they ever make a movie about his life, the actor that plays Gene Vincent has to be used for the Gene Vincent story, that would swiftly follow.Their lifes and careers are so bound together.

  • This is a great song, written by Eddie's girlfriend, Sharon Sheeley, and his older brother, Bob Cochran (she was in the car the night Eddie was killed but survived). The song was written by Sheeley on the back of a match book, and recorded with a drum beat identical to Little Richard's "Keep A-Knockin'", according to her, in order to impress Cochran who was a Little Richard fan.

  • THIS WAS A FIRST HARD-ROCK SONG.

  • this is fucking rock n roll...not this new shit!

  • PUNK RULES.

  • Eddie cochran although came after elvis, is the King, died at 21 but did so lots of great tracks in such a short space of time,Fantastic talent so often dies young.A true great..

  • UFO covered this .

  • @ thevalleyofthedead

edddie is just the tip of the iceberg mate check out warren smith , blly lee riley and go from there.. all i can say is back in the late 70,s early 80's when i got into rock n roll i hated you punks for stealing our music/ clothes ..johnny rotten wearing ripped drape jackets a proper insult and worthy of a ruck lol but we was all young then and took it all so seriously .. at least now you know teds rule and rock n roll as well ...ok thats a piss take be good

  • Now i know where the surfer sound of the 60s came from.

  • timeless classic. a true great.

  • i prefer this version to be honest....thanks

  • he seems like a really fun guy!

  • Sleng teng riddim!

  • You guys want punk? then listen to The Sonics! their song "Psycho" or "Boss Hoss"..1960s punk!!!

  • Any good punk band which was basically The Pistols, Ramones (came before Pistols) and Iggy & Stooges (only honorable mention) knew Eddie was the real deal. Not Elivis, not the Stones. AFAIK - Eddie was much bigger in the UK than he was in America.

  • Godfather of rock and roll forget the rest!

  • Its live brother, the studio is polished and smooth, i play this song live the chicks go crazy

  • Punk is an attitude i believe, eddie was as punk as john lydon, or Johnny Cash ya know, like great music and people are the ones that just stand out. if punk is the answer to complacency then its definition should be just whatever stands out. anyway gotta love Eddie

  • Died much much too young :(

  • i like this version better than the final cut! its raw and freakin' awesome! the guitar and drums sound great!

  • @rockabillyrebel1959 it's a live version from the BBC radio Show Saturday Club featuring Brian Bennett on drums, Brian Locking on bass, Big Jim Sullivan on guitar.

  • Words cannot express how cool this guy was...

  • This is from a live BBC broadcast in 1960.

  • @Bopalena

    Wow. Thanks.

  • This is an alt version, not the single version.

  • live at the Brian Matthew Saturday club

  • sounds to me that sid had the best taste in music out of all the pistols members

  • Johnny Rotten himself said that Sid Vicious always wanted to be Eddie Cochran. Nothing wrong with that...Eddie Cochran is the f'in man. I like Sid's cover too as well as the original. SHES SURE FINE LOOKIN MAN, WOW SHES SOMETHIN' ELSE!!!!

  • from when exactly is this record?

  • Yes, a masterpiece! Still great to hear after so many years!

  • holy shit ppl punk shit isnt even worthy of being mentioned in the same sentence as eddie...... eddie cochran is fuckin awsome

  • You got that right greaser. It's dog shit compared to this.

  • @greaser1993 im a huge fan of both punk and this nd 2 b honest punk may have been influenced by it but there still really different so comparing them is just a little bit stupid

  • @greaser1993 Haha punk was youth's attempt to bring rock and roll back to its roots. No idea why you can't appreciate that

  • @greaser1993 why cant you accept the fact that you are an ignorant cock sucker? punk was meant to go back to its rock n roll roots dumb fuck, why cant you see that ass hole?

  • the king

  • Yeah - best version I've heard. Great song - terrific lyrics !!

  • When Brian Setzer first heard this tune he thought it was the "rockinest" song he ever heard. I quite agree! For the ultimate cover of this tune, see the posting of Keith Richards and his Expensive Winos at Sevilla....

  • I hear the ghost of Elvis. And they were contempories, and sorta soulmates.

  • This is the best version...

  • Sounds like early The Who IMO.

  • Totally, Roger Daltrey is a bad ass blues singer.

  • Its no accident that they covered Summertime Blues.

  • Eddie Cochran is so fucking great!!! He is the king of rock and roll.

  • LOL, LOL, sure he is!! ;)

  • No Eddie, no punk!

  • well punk is good, but Im not a huge sex pistols fan. Punk has heavily influenced by 50s rock n roll and many punk bands like the ramones, the clash, the vandals, nofx, pennywise, reverend horton heat(rockabilly and punk) and the horrorpops all love Eddie Cochran and the other 50s rock n roll artist. Me being a huge punk fan to tell you I really dont like Sids version of this song, EDDIE WAS BETTER!

  • @skatepunkzero You are very, very right!!!:)

  • @skatepunkzero Thats interesting you Say that! Dam I love my Punk! And I just Randomly Stumbled across this Guy and I Digging him! I must Be honest I Neva Knew Who He was...I Just Knew is "Dam"..this is Good Music! & that Was Enough For me !!! .. This Guy Kicks ass haha LOL ;)

  • @skatepunkzero You should check out Led Zeppelins version.

  • @capodencia85 I have, I still like Eddies the best

  • @skatepunkzero it's true to that this shit was before its time but i think jimi henderix is the one who transcended rock to punk rock/metal

  • @stevebballin1 Jimi Hendrix helped start metal but not really Punk. The beatles are said to have the first metal song with Helter skelter and Blue Cheer and Steppenwolf are the first metal bands. As for punk Iggy Pop really led the transition for that.

  • Sid rocks it so much more! Pistols leadsinger should have been Sid and not that crazy small lfreaky Leprechaun Lydon with this annoying stressful screaming, what he called "sing"!Lydon belongs either to the ground of the water of england's dirty rivers or locked away in a rubbercell in a hospital for pathological mental disorder for the rest of his poor little existence!

    R.I.P. SID! you rock!

  • A mi tambien!

  • Never heard this version before... Obviously a live recording and it is GREAT!!! OMG!

  • I have heard zeppelin doing this one..cool!

  • Here comes that girl :p

  • Eddie Cochran=Genius

He influenced many many, many rock musicians.

  • Teds v Punks again? Takes me back to my school days. Honour the memory of a true pioneer of rock n roll and its invention. End of

  • Well said. Thank you Greaser

  • fuckin people dont know good music if it slaped them on there face eddie rocks end of

  • fuckin idiots eddie cochran is far beter than sid vicious eddie could take a shit on sid visious from such a height that that gay sid would think god himself took a dum on his head eddie rules !!!!!!!

  • peuf'

  • Sid vicious was better ! But Eddie was good too, but not more, SID ROCKS, SID PUNX =P

  • A pile of steaming ooze ridden dog shit has more talent than the late, not great, gone and forgotten, rotting in the ground, worms eating his teeny little balls Sid "Not So" Vicious. EDDIE COCHRAN KICKS ASS!!!

  • Eddie Cochran was a brilliant vocalist, guitarist and songwriter. Sid Vicious was a brilliant nothing. The Pistols were ruined once he replaced Glen Matlock.

  • sid is shit. and a poser.

how can he be better doing a cover song that he didnt even play an instrument on? he just sang it! Eddies Version is the best!

  • fuck off

  • haha nice reply.

typical unintelligent reply just like sid vicious himself!

  • I like this version, but how can

Sid be a poser if he invented it what you say he's posing after? I really dont think he was trying to be Eddie.

  • Comment removed

  • sid vicious did a good cover of this in my opinion

  • Eddie Cochran Rocks!!!

  • I could listen to this all day. It grows on you! His music was simply the best. Man, days gone by. RIP my friend.

  • The coolest Rockabilly ever !

TIME WILL NEVER DIM HIS GLORY !!

  • It's not playing for me, oh darn.

  • Vid plays good now. Man, Eddie recorded and performed a lot of great songs, with his own identifiable style. I was surprised to learn that he was only 22 at the time of his tragic death. He seemed so confident and refined on stage.

  • i had heard he was actually only 21 when he died, but he died WAY too young

  • oh my god, where did you get this clip....this is so rare...thank you so much for posting it. I have loved Eddie Cochran for 33 years and this is just a dream come true to hear this!!!!

  • well said ZenithJones2

  • Naturalselection240 you have really lost your fuckin mind, Eddie Cochran pisses on sid vicious are you serious !!!!!!!

  • Eddie pisses and shits all over that faggot pretender scardy cat junkie asshole Sid Vicious!!! COCHRAN RULES!!!

  • SId Vicious was a no talent faggot junkie pissant who couldn't even hold a bass let alone play one. Eddie Cochran's corpse has more talent than anything that moron Sidney did and I would've kicked his talentless retarded ass if I ever saw him. He's gone and forgotten like he should be. EDDIE COCHRAN RULES!!!

  • eddie sucks my balls. sid is like 1000000 times better than that eddie cockle

  • Eddie Cochon haha learn to spell Idiot!

Eddie is one of the best Rock n Roll artists ever!

  • Cochon = Pig en français ;D

  • look there she go go she real nice mover, when birds could groove smell real nice with lots of sweet kissing

  • Its crazy thinking he died this same year.

    R.I.P Eddie

  • Recorded live for BBC radio Show saturday club with Brian Bennett on drums, Brian Locking on bass. 1960

  • Brian Bennett of the Shadows? WOW

  • yes before he join the shadows he was the drummer of Marty Wilde and before that he was the drummer of the Vince Taylor Playboys with Brian Locking and Tony Sheridan.

  • were these skiffle bands? I know that ilk of music was big in England during that era.

  • Skiffle ????? no it's rock n roll bands.

  • I don't know how many might make this connection, but when Eddie Cochrane spoke in this song, he sounded very much like country music's Mel McDaniels. They both had distinguished gruffy voices that made them very good performers. Mel had songs like "Louisiana Saturday Night" and "Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On." Remember him?

  • i like this live sound, authentic.

  • a real rock song

  • i prefere sid vicious version

  • I like this version better too =)

Thanks for posting all these great Eddie's songs Rover! :)

    Long Live Rock 'n' Roll!

  • Might be his best but at the same time how in the heck can you decide. This ain't the 'normal' version I belive. Thanx/Roland

  • You're right, it's an alternate take of this song, not the version that was first released. I'm glad you enjoy all these Eddie Cochran songs, take care :)
