This is off topic but I think if Jack Daniel's BBQ sauce had a different name, it wouldn't sell as much. I'm under the impression people say,"Oh, wow! It's BBQ sauce with Jack Daniel's in it! Cool, man! I'm in college! Let's go get a tattoo!" I mean, it's not bad BBQ sauce but it's not that superb either.
@LedWilde you're absolutly right. Jack Daniel's BBQ sauce is straight up nasty, but I only bought it because my boyfriend's obsessed with Epic Meal Time and he would have loved using it. It's hard to describe the taste, but I've had much much better
@pajamagirl123 I agree. To me, it doesn't have a bad taste. A little sweet or off tasting somehow though. But as far as it being labeled a "BBQ sauce," I think it's bad! I wouldn't put it on anything. It came with some meal I got from Friday's or something once. Then where I worked, this college girl was bragging and showing everyone the JD BBQ sauce. Whatever!
Garlic Powder, how classy, how about just using regular garlic next time.
In the U.S. even marshmallows seems to be defined as a basic ingredient, as if it would be a fresh tomato, milk or newly slaughtered meat, and not a piece of industrial candy.
Just curious :) What meats would you BBQ Pit Boys suggest using this on or is it an all of the above thing? My party's gonna have Beef, Venison, Chicken, Pork, Shrimp and Wild Boar :)
Thanks for the recipe! I slow cooked come pork ribs over indirect heat for 5 hrs this weekend. I used a rub I bought from a BBQ place in Texas called the Salt Lick, but I used this recipe as the mopping and dipping sauce. The ribs came out absolutely fantastic. Every single person raved about them and enjoyed them immensely. Thanks for making me look good guys!
hey love the show here in canada.i have done the sauce many times and dont feel the need to make any other.i love it.keep it up u have taught me lots.thank you. Dave
This sauce is great. I added a little cinnamon to mine to go with the apple flavor and a little liquid smoke. Awesome on pulled pork. Thanks BBQ Boys.
Hello again pit boys! Here's how I made this my own secret sauce...I'm using raspberry / apple juice, and my "secret " ingredient, "Bronco Bob's roasted raspberry chipotle sauce". It's great on St. Louis ribs, Phenomenal on baby backs!!! Give it a try!
Made this moppin & dippin sauce tonight but used a little less apple juice and added some garlic powder, paprika, black pepper and liquid hickory smoke. Gonna try it on a frenched rack of pork on the grill, low and slow, indirect heat. Man, that sauce smells gooooood!!! as it simmers. Thanks for the simple recipe Pit Boys, keep the videos coming!
@euphoriargh Uhhhhh...You have one video after two years of posting compared to these guys who rule BBQ and you are talking about using a rue in BBQ sauce as a thickner? You are quite simply insane and know nothing about cooking. Yes, I went to school for it and am the Head Chef in a classy BBQ joint. I watch these guys to get better ideas, less is more and a simple recipe sometimes is the best thing to start with. They are good and you should learn from them...
hey, i just put this sauce together so that i dont have to mess with it tomorrow when i put it on the grill and it is very very watery. should i add some kind of thickening agent to it to make it thicker or is it "just fine" like that??
it's not a thick sauce, good for bith moppin' and dippin'. But, you can thicken it up by adding a bit more ketchup and then simmering longer to reduce!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i can tell you what not to do, rely on these videos to "take you to the next level". you can add a rue, which is equal parts melted butter and flour. you can add corn starch, or tomato paste.
i dont think im the first one to try it, but ill toss a big onion slice on the grill and let the sugars pullout from the onion until its almost a little charred. then ill chop it up and throw it in the sauce. gives it a little something and its easy. great receipe BBQ web :)
oooooooooooooooooooooooooo thats some good sauce

I like mixing up a batch of sauce when I'm done with the grill but the coals still have that bit of life left.
Mix it, heat it, rest it, jar it & when we're ready to fire up the grill next time, use it!
Noting goes to waste & one good time carries over to the next. Kinda nice that way.

blablabla12312312312 2 years ago
Cook it and let it reduce, that's what I do, and I make it a gallon at a time of a recipe similar to this. Cook on a gentle simmer.
It's ALOT cheaper to make your own, and tastes better as well.
