where is it? Right now I live in Jasso dormitory at Tsukumodai Suita, but maybe your dormitary could be my alternative if in case for moving next year,,
Interesting. Not bad for 60 bucks a month; that wouldn't even pay for a hostel room in many place across the US. And 80,000 Yen ($926) for a one bedroom? I'm paying $1200 for a one bedroom here in Chicago. So housing seems fairly cheap (but small!) over there. I saw another video that showed a supposed one bedroom where the "room" was actually a small loft above the kitchen. Even so, I would still love to visit Japan. Bravo to you for being adventurous enough to actually move out there!
i want 2 move 2 Japan so badly i keep on thinking about entering Japan's apartment and taking off my shoes in the entrance just that will make me so happy(: i envy whoever lives there permanently
@Kuroneko822 So they're pretty solid? What I don't like about American apartments is how cheaply built they are. If you live on the first floor, you can hear every time your upstairs neighbor walks around. I visited a building that was built in the 1930's, and back in those days they put concrete in between each floor so you heard nothing. But now they don't give a shit about quality. One of my goals is to move to Japan. I don't mind smaller accommodations as long as its quiet and comfortable.
Yeah, the place I was in was pretty solid. My friend next door and I tried to knock on the walls to say hi, but we ended up hurting our hands on the concrete, heheh.
@countmockula12 I a couple of years ago, I lived in the basement level of a three-flat that was built at the turn of the century and I could hear my upstairs neighbor walking around (and doing other things I would have rather not known about...). I made a vow never to move into an old building after that year-long ordeal. Many newer American apartment buildings do have concrete floors, unless it's a low-income complex.
@GreatLakesDrifta They stopped separating floors with concrete because plants and other things would grow into it and gradually wear away the structural integrity, which left them prone to some unfortunate accidents like collapses. That and concrete takes longer to repair, so they switched to easier wood. I live in a two bedroom, two bathroom condo in the town voted the number 4 nicest place to live in the entire country, and its still just wood planks separating me from my upstairs neighbors.
@countmockula12 i dont know if youve ever lived in japan, but the walls are generally much thinner there than in the west. so your neighbours can hear you quite well actually
This was a dormitory, so it was a different price than usual... only 5900 yen per month. A 1 bedroom apartment in Tokyo would be about 80,000 yen per month.
@Kuroneko822 Are you serious? 5900 yens a month? (maybe you mean 59,000 yens?) I am a student in Nagoya University, Nagoya, and pay 48,900 yens for a dorm like yours (same size and space)
o.o wow. i suppose i'd find a place like that cosy at times, and suffocating at times. do you have like a park or some nice place to stretch your legs near-by?
I love your apartment!!! It's the perfect size. I would love to have a house that size, with a very large yard with tons of flowers. I can't wait to move to Japan <3
Thats a FANTASTIC dorm room . . . at my university that amount of space would be shared by at least 2 maybe 3 girls and no kitchen would be provided whatsoever . . . there is 1 toilet and 1 shower to share with every girl living on that floor.
Not all Japanese apartments are that small. If you try to live in the city, then you have no choice, you are lucky to have any room. Many people commute 2 hours to work in the city just for this reason but the cost of living in those places too are getting higher each year.
And that tiny kotatsu!! ^_^ I have never seen one that small. It brought me tears to my eyes from nostalgia!! It'd be nice to have it here in US just to save some heating cost.
geez no wonder you have to be so skinny in japan, to fit in the small spaces they provide. not only that they think being heavy is Unbeautiful. Thats what I heard they think skinny is beautiful. they would think I was a fatass I went down there. I lost 120+ pounds but I need to do strength trainning.
I think my leg would honestly fit on that bed lol. Please tell me they can accommodate tall ppl (6' and above) in other places. Man that would kill me.
I've heard mixed comments. If I go to Japan and don't speak the language, would I find help like a translator or do most people in Tokyo speak English?
English classes are mandatory in Japanese schools, so everyone speaks at least some... If you know how to say "I don't understand Japanese" or "is English okay?" then perhaps they'll switch to English and you'll be okay.
Whoa, it may be small (which I wouldn't mind at all), but that is a REALLY nice dorm room...at least compared to the colleges around where I live. I mean...you have your own kitchen and bathroom! XD That alone is pretty great!
oh also it's called Eyeshield 21...but after watching the show so much Eyeshield nijuichi sounds better....^^' then again you probably already translated that yourself..........
