Here's a tip be nice to your sales associate when you talk to them about your problem and they will generally go the extra mile to help you. Speaking from 8 years of SEARS retail experience.

I guess it depends on your store, and sales associates. I recently purchased a dishwasher from Sears - brand new, and it leaked like a sieve. They took it back and replaced with another - that one arrived damaged. They took that one back, and replaced with a third dishwasher... thankfully the third one is OK.
This guy got dealt a bad hand and that sucks, but you can get lousy customer service from any retailer.
"Silver level delivery" (forced on me, price and all...bronze wasn't good enough for me! :) meant that I waited 9-5 to call in afterwards and find out they messed up the day. Last week i bought two beds from sears the day before i purchased the beds i bought a refrigarator and oven, the beds were set to be delivered today and the kitchen appliances on saturday, my thirteen year old daughter woke up at 7 waiting for her new bed to be delivered at 8, at 8:30 we got a call from sears saying the foundation of my daughters bed had dirt and rocks inbeded into it and had a hole in it, they said it could be deliveered a in a week, my poor daughter has to sleep on the couch.

Bought a garden tractor ($3000)end of last Sep,used twice,it was end of the season.1st time, I noticed I had to turn the steeling wheel to right to keep it going straight. I thought I got 1year warranty, I would call service next spring when I use it again. Today I was told that I should call right away, now I had to pay for the service and part. They don't even bother to diagnose the problem, just told me " the 1 year warranty won't cover it!" I don't understand this, what i should do. SUCKS!!

Sears does not want to PAY for enough QUALIFIED repair people. Capitalist will generally try to get as much as possible for as little as possible. If they can send a highschool kid , they will.
I paid for the extra warranty ($130 +/-) and have already waited 1 month for my dishwasher to be fixed. If I wait an additional 3 months more will I get 3 months added to my warranty?
all i can say is get the protection agreements on the items you purchase, then you are covered. if you are going to invest "a lot" of money on something then you should protect it. Get the PA and you don't have to worry about it being defective because if it is they will fix it for you. Also, there is a 90 day return policy and pretty much everything in the store besides home electronics which is 30 days. You should have noticed that your item was defective before that and took action upon it.
Sears doesn't have a customer service department you fool. The two sales reps have all the resources to be able to swap out both products that failed on you, stop trying to go above their heads to get a "better deal" all because of some unfortunate events. Crap happens, and i bet you go to any online retailer where you can't see the product in person you will never be 100% satisfied with all of your products,

If there was something wrong with what they sold you or you were unhappy with it you could have simply gotten your money back or exchanged the faulty item for another within three months of your purchase. Maybe even longer, I know a lot of their stuff comes with one or two year warranties.

When you buy anything from Costco, you got a year to return it. I love them. I bought a freezer, there was something was probably wrong with it. No questions. I got a replacement with a smile. Keep your receipts. I love them.
I can't speak for that Sears, but I can say Retail is great at selling you good products (trusting that the manufacturer builds quality products, this is where research of brands comes in handy) but Retail in general especially from my current perspective at Best Buy and close friends at Home Depot... issues are always hard to deal with...

When you order food at a restaurant and something is wrong with it (wrong food, cooked wrong, etc), do you call the corporate number and ask them to fix it? NO! You talk to the waiter and get it fixed, maybe even ask to see the manager who can help you out.

I worked at a Sears store and we didn't have a customer service department so it fell upon my shoulders to help them when all I was trained to do was run a cash register. We weren't trained to handle warranty returns, return defective merchandise...anything like that. I felt bad when all I could do was hand the customer a paper with a 1-800 # on it to call. That's pretty much Sears approach to handling things they'd rather just forget/ignore.

Listen up everyone, I purchased a Kenmore washer and dryer from sears in 1982, when sears only sold Kenmore, in 2006 i had to replace the washer with a LOUSY!!! Kenmore washer, that quit working in the first 5 days, Whirlpool makes Kenmore washers, always has, sears does not make them i know this, For 10 months, the machine has been sitting in my garage unrepaired, cause Sears keeps giving me the run around, telling me that they will send a tech out. So i have now bought a speed queen set.

Sears guarantees are worthless. They delivered a washer that had a hunk out of the enamel on the top and refused to exchange or refund. They offered $50 off. I wanted a NEW looking washer not one that was damaged. The delivery guy wrote on my order slip that it was damaged before delivery. I phoned the sales person directly and managed to get $150 off but no repairs. They would not let me finish a sentence on the phone. Constant interruptions and trying to pass me off to another "department."

Sears doesn't have a customer service department you fool. The two sales reps have all the resources to be able to swap out both products that failed on you, stop trying to go above their heads to get a "better deal" all because of some unfortunate events. Crap happens, and i bet you go to any online retailer where you can't see the product in person you will never be 100% satisfied with all of your products,

@TactOpsand when you go to those small ma and pa store that "specialize" you'll never get the coverage you would get on your products from a company that has the largest home service team in the country. Unless you buy from home depot or lowes, you know why, those A&E sevice trucks belong to sears, and btw, a couple hundred dollars ins't large purchase. I'm not rich by any mean, but that is not a large purchase to them

I don't see how Sears is at fault. If there was something wrong with what they sold you or you were unhappy with it you could have simply gotten your money back or exchanged the faulty item for another within three months of your purchase. Maybe even longer, I know a lot of their stuff comes with one or two year warranties.

I feel you're pain, man. I notice everything you buy today is a POS even the Hi-tech stuff. I collect vintage audio, an old Hoover vacuum, and fans and guess what? They're 20+yrs old and still work just like when they were new even if I had the repair them which is rewarding.

When you buy anything from Costco, you got a year to return it. I love them. I bought a freezer, there was something was probably wrong with it. No questions. I got a replacement with a smile. Keep your receipts. I love them.

I can't speak for that Sears, but I can say Retail is great at selling you good products (trusting that the manufacturer builds quality products, this is where research of brands comes in handy) but Retail in general especially from my current perspective at Best Buy and close friends at Home Depot... issues are always hard to deal with...

The largest company in the US...Walmart...is a department store. Specialty stores are the ones closing down. Target, Walmart, Kmart, Sears...department sores...all only losing 10% or so a year compared to Old Navy dropping 30%. Know what youre talking about before posting a video..

When you order food at a restaurant and something is wrong with it (wrong food, cooked wrong, etc), do you call the corporate number and ask them to fix it? NO! You talk to the waiter and get it fixed, maybe even ask to see the manager who can help you out.
If something was wrong with a product you bought at Sears, return it. It's that simple. We just sell the products, we don't make them. Go cry somewhere else.

If you didnt walk into sears thinking that you were going to pull one over on them and shit on the sales people. We take care of the customers that are plesant and enjoyable to work with. I didn't try to pull anything on anyone. I just bought something, cash upfront, and when it arrived it was broken. Then they left it there, replacing it 3 weeks later with another broken one.

I worked at a Sears store and we didn't have a customer service department so it fell upon my shoulders to help them when all I was trained to do was run a cash register. We weren't trained to handle warranty returns, return defective merchandise...anything like that. I felt bad when all I could do was hand the customer a paper with a 1-800 # on it to call. That's pretty much Sears approach to handling things they'd rather just forget/ignore.

Sears is a BIG god damn joke. $9.09/hr salary, PART TIME, 10 hours a week, and each time you come in, they assign you a ridiculously high sales target of less than a $2000 to be made in a 5-hour shift!!
MOST Sales Managers are horrible, Sears Staff are SO STARVED that since there is NO WAGE they crave selling useless Protection Agreements and Extended Warranties to substitute bad income.
Customers loose out, and they get grabbed by vultures

Try working there, I worked there for a month then just abandoned the job, they mailed me a letter a week later asking what happened to me and to call back to discuss my employment. The fact they'd take me back after a one week absence shows how desperate they are. You couldn't double my pay and ask me to work there, its unbelievable. Its a terrible store with no concern to to employees or customers

I do the best I can and will bend over backwards to help them but they need to realize we are not magicians and have to abide by company policy. If your worried about having problems take out a protection agreement on the product. If I could wave a magic wand I would but folks life is not perfect. We will do the best we can!

Listen up everyone, I purchased a Kenmore washer and dryer from sears in 1982, when sears only sold Kenmore, in 2006 i had to replace the washer with a LOUSY!!! Kenmore washer, that quit working in the first 5 days, Whirlpool makes Kenmore washers, always has, sears does not make them i know this, For 10 months, the machine has been sitting in my garage unrepaired, cause Sears keeps giving me the run around, telling me that they will send a tech out. So i have now bought a speed queen set.

Sears guarantees are worthless. They delivered a washer that had a hunk out of the enamel on the top and refused to exchange or refund. They offered $50 off. I wanted a NEW looking washer not one that was damaged. The delivery guy wrote on my order slip that it was damaged before delivery. I phoned the sales person directly and managed to get $150 off but no repairs. They would not let me finish a sentence on the phone. Constant interruptions and trying to pass me off to another "department."

I work at Sears and Ive seen this problem and I have to agree. My manager even tells me that we have to take care of it all. In the clothing department, they expect us to know why the brand decided to make it that way. Its ridiculous. If you dont shop at Sears, hey, me neither, more power to you.
