the reason the 8 inch barrel has no porting is becuase the more air (or Co2) behind the ball and not flying out the ports the more power it has, however, the reason its a bad idea, is 1 sound like you said there is NO STEALTH lol, and 2 because the 8 inch doesnt have the accuracy, plus, porting on certain patterns helps the ball stay in a not rotative state, rotating tends to cause the paintball to fly out at a wierd angle, although...this apex i got defeats this random curve effect very nicely.
You can take the tip off. There's four philips screws that hold the shell together. U don't need to buy Lapco either, I think bt just came out with an apex 2 that's tool less. They have a lot of barrels that you can put the tip on. Just type in apex ready barrels on the Internet and they'll all pop up. Hope that helps
