We may hav lost 4-1 to germany, but that was a one off and it had many contributing factors, e.g. We dont have a winter break in the EPL and the EPL is the fastest and most intensive league in the world, so by the time our players get to the wc they are half the players they usually are. Evidence of this can be seen in the difference between our qualifiers for the WC when we were almost unbeatable, and the world cup, where we were awful.
