Because this is the first COD and is more realistic. The man who rose the flag over the Reichstag was Alyosha Kovalyov. Viktor Reznov and Dmitri Petrenko are merely made up main characters. Actually in the mission Stalingrad, the first Russian mission, in the subtitles and if your close enough, you can hear someone saying "Get me Colonel Petrenko, Major!" Indicating that Treyarch stole the idea of Dmitiri Petrenko from Infinity Ward. There are also AI Russians named Petrenko

If you read a historical book about WW2 then you can find out that 80% of all German casaulties were on the Eastern Front fighting the Soviet Union. Sadly Hollywood movies has led a lot of people to think the German army was defeated in France. What utter nonsense.

I bought cod 1 & 2. Played cod 2 and got bored in only a few hours.. Its too repititive and requires no skill and looked to be worse graphics covered in ugly bump mapping. Then I loaded up cod1 .. wow amazing. I love this game and the graphics are fine. I dont care about graphics as much. Gameplay and story are more important. I guess cod 2 was a dumb console port.

Wow i remember playing this about a year ago (CoD was at retail so I bought it and played it through, pretty late I know) and storming and entering the Reichstag. It felt so epic and I remember feeling the frustration after hearing that commander say to get the flag on the roof and seeing the guys coming from the other side with the flag...

I'm glad they remade the mission so you can storm the Reichstag again... and this time place the flag there yourself... And now with better graphics.
