  • whats the web site

  • hey, this one is alot better and is much easier to follow. thanks for reffering meto this vid

  • i apologize for putting up so many of the same comment. I didn't know if the message was posted so i posted repeatedly. Sure enough though, all three of my comments were posted.

  • I disagree with your chess and go comparison. Although go does have a lot more possibilities than chess, they both share similar strategies such as looking ahead and predicting your opponent's moves. Both games are difficult to master and I believe that if you were to play an expert/professional in either game, you would find it is not so simple. I liked your video though and I hope you make more. Go is an excellent game, but please don't belittle chess.

  • All major games board gaqme research showed that go makes chess look like checkers do some research Chess has so many rules on a small board meaning less strategy in fact I played chess resently and thx to go I was able to read 20-30 moves ahead I sucked at chess before I found go and after seeing how easy

  • chess is I found all swtudies were right the greatest chess playere couldn't keep up with the greatest go player he played chess recently and noticed that he was better than before go teaches to plan for whats ahead in strategy not to make a few ateempts for hope of capturing one piece chess the goal is to capture the king go the goal is to fight to the bone for the most intersections while there are 360 intersections

  • Go was made before chess and in asia proffing since asia's countanent is the smartest not even the egyptians from africa could keep up in building a good strategic board game there have been scientific research on this also take in the fact programmers can easily make a program that is an expert of chess while they can barely make a program that can rise up to the lvl of one kyu in go because go is to complex the only way a program can master it is with artificial intelligence

  • well, if that is the case, I will spend some more time playing go. Hopefully it will help me to think ahead and play better. I wouldn't mind playing go or chess with you on the internet for fun, or to see if playing go has really made you such an excellent reader. (I myself cannot read past 4-5 moves and it takes me awhile to do so). please keep my game offers in mind, for I'm trying to master both and playing against you may be a good experience for me.

  • Since there is no strict pattern or strategy that defines a win, the program would have to be given a reply to each of the strategies, and since the amount of possible positions is so huge, noone has had the ability to make a go program that is advanced.

  • All I'm saying is that chess is not a simple game to play in comparison to go, but may be easier to master because of its restraints, such as the amount of pieces used in the game and the size of the board.

  • If chess was put on a much larger board with more pieces, it could rival go as a game that takes long to master. That's why there are so many different versions of chess such as 3-d chess, millenium chess, bug-house, etc.

  • It's so people can increase the possibilities while learning new strategies that allow for the ability to think up to and beyond 100 moves ahead. The Go board isn't without change, as it evolved from 17x17 to 19x19. And go also has the smaller boards (9x9 and 13x13) for players to learn the basic strategy. It just happens to be that the 8x8 square board in chess is the most popular at this time.

  • Chess is not without strategy just because of its limits. Go on a 9x9 board would have fewer possibilities and wouldn't be as difficult to master. It just so happens that the 19x19 board is the most popular right now. If chess was on a much larger board with many more pieces, it would probably be impossible to make a master program for it as well. Who knows, in a couple of centuries the games might evolve to a much larger scale. If go is more complex, it is only because of its board size.

  • daggar you are right to some degree, but every chess piece has a set movement while the movement in Go is the same. Making a chess board larger would make the game take longer but it wouldn't neccesarily make it harder because there would still be one king and one way to win at one specified place on the board for a computer to go for. In Go you want as much of the board (or captured pieces) as you can, kinda a bigger goal eh?

  • That's true. I agree that the goal in Go takes more time to achieve. When I typed these comments in response, I felt upset about the original comment that fueled them, since in my eyes it felt disrespectful to all chess players who JUST LIKE GO PLAYERS spend much of their lives studying their game and are under stress when playing in a tournament.

  • The original comment was along the lines of "Chess is no where near Go in strategy and is as close to Go as checkers and other simple games". I argued that the person shouldn't belittle chess, and he used the "there isn't a good computer program for Go yet" as an example to argue that Go is a more complex and strategic game, thus implying that a chess player was nowhere near the level of strategy or thinking as a Go player (in other words "inferior").

  • yeaa either way both are fun games

  • yep!

  • i thought it was cool,so if ever anyone wants a game my user name is spike5633 and i'm usaully in the beginner room 2 or hamster pit,mk byes

  • lol

  • check board games it's in top 10 board games

  • i couldn't find go in yahoo games

  • oh, I searched for go games in youtube and was led here. I already knew the very basic stuff you were explaining on this video even before I watched Hikaru no go, but now I think I may go see if I'll be able to learn more. ^-^' thanks.

(ps. I was bad in chess, won only four times when I attented to a chess course in my school.)

  • Ummmm chess in actual comparison to go is checkers or go fish.

  • I disagree with your chess comment. Chess requires the same skills to play as go, such as looking ahead and predicting your opponent's moves.

  • I think both are great games and just because there are more possible positions in go doesn't make go players any better at strategy than chess players. I think a great go player would have just as hard a time beating a great chess player in chess, as a great chess player would have beating a great go player in go. I liked the video though and think you should make more. Please do not belittle chess, because the same tenacity and pressure is involved.
