  • @wattass7 Hello there...thanks. This layour has taken nearly 5 years, but I have been into trains for 40 years so there are many kits etc now approaching 30 years of age. It realy is a hobby of a lifetime. regards

  • What is your fastest train?

  • Awesome

  • very cool

  • who ever disliked this is gay its amazing theres nothing else to describe it

  • Brilliant!!!!

  • This must have taken weeks to plan never mind build. More like a work of art than a model railway. Truly oustanding and inspirational. great video footage too.

  • How do you dust it?

  • Fantastic and realistic layout. Well done. Does the OHLE actually provide power, or is it just for show? I didn't notice any rolling stock with overhead pantographs.

  • I agree with POLARBEAR. Great stuff. Well done.

  • on-board pretty cool

  • looks verry realistic how much do you recon that cost all together

  • awesome

  • Very cool layout. Would like to know more about it. How long has it been in the making etc.

  • Fantastic layout, loved watching all your videos. Is there any chance of getting an overview of the whole layout? I'm just about to build a new layout and love your set out. Not sure I'll ever reach your level but your set-up is inspiring!! Cheers, Tom

  • Watch Miwula on Utube

  • wish i could do that, my railway maxes out at 5 carrages per train on 3 lines

  • wish i could do that, my railway maxes out at 5 carrages per train

  • is that in N or OO or what and have you got DCC

  • that is epic 1:40 in

  • good grief! Just how big is this layout? I'm in awe, especially the passenger's eye view, it looked incredible! The only very minor comment I would make is that deeper ballasting would make it look even more realistic, but it's a tremendous layout and a great achievement. Thanks for sharing!

  • Beautiful amazing layout.

  • Hello. With a era span like that (similar to mine) you can run a massive selection. It really will depend on how tru you wnt to keep operations. For example, I use my Eurostar and RES 47, and Cl 166 an 159s with no Cl50's in sight. However, you can run 50, 47, 37, 20, 56, 58, HSTs, 33, 31, 26 and 27. Class 25 only until 1986ish. So, go for it.

  • where do you get all of your buildings from

  • Morning; they are a mixture. All the city plsatic kits are from Faller, Kibri, Volmer; ie 1/87 german. Lots of Hornby skaledale scattered around. Finally, most of the 1980's Hornby plastic kits. Diesel shed PEco and Hornby. regards

  • @zzpjl8 so the one i spotted @ 3:36 as the train was turning right the building (buger king) where did you get that from and what make

  • Hi there, Burger King is a Volmer kit, purchased about 12 years go, but I think it is still in their range. regards.

  • @zzpjl8 so it looks like i will be looking ariund for it on the internet does it come ready built or do you hsve to build it

  • An excellent layout, era just to my tastes too! Cant wait to get a layout properly setup!

    A great inspiration!

Will watch some more of the videos soon!

  • I think you run your trains a little too fast.

    It's not tremendously realistic.

    Otherwise - very excellent indeed!

  • Fantastic.... Inspiring and right in my era.... thanks for making the effort to share this.

  • Dear Santa...

  • beautiful. I envy you.

  • beautiful. I envy you.

  • Thats a super layout,my own is pretty big too but near as nice as yours,I hope to someday have mine as good as yours.I've got some pretty good ideas from your video...thanks for sharing

  • Right up my era that, awesome city size display, thanks for sharing

  • Love this Layout, it is so busy, the trains run smoothely it is a beautiful piece of art. Nice job filming, thank you for your efforts

  • Fatastic layout. Where did you get the overhead catenenary system from ?

  • Hello Charles, the OHLE is from Viessmann. regards Nick

  • Thanks

  • Hi, i have a train set and it stuffs up. it will go and stop around the intersections (switchers thingy) andi out power on both sides, so when it goes over it and stop now and then and i have to push it a little and on a strack it and stagger and not work properly. the set up is one a big table and the tracks pretty big. do i need a bigger voltage controler or something?

  • Jasey,

it is most likely that you either have one of the following conditions: dirty wheels, dirty track, or poor track connections that may need new fishplates. your transformer should be fine. try a Peco track cleaner and lightly rub the wheels of your trac, and trac and have another go. regards Nick

  • Spectacular layout. Thank you for taking the time to make and post that video.

  • I am in astonishment. That is an incredible layout! I am very much an Intercity person (as a grew up next to the ECML with HST's and 91's running up and down all day).

I've never had my own layout, just a large collection of rail stock.

Have you got a website or somewhere to share photos? I would absolutely love to see more of this layout and your rail stock.

Someone like me can only dream of that and I'm looking on with jealous eyes hehe = )

Thanks for sharing with the world!

  • Hello there, thanks very much. I have the 19 videos currently on u-tube - I do not have a website. Not enough spare time I am afraid! You will find most of my items appear in the videos. Check out part 16 which is taken on board a wagon and passes under bridges etc! I have about 60 locos, a mixture of the period modelled plus some irresistable steam engines.

  • Wow, that is amazing! I've seen like cab views before but how you've got being overtaken and stuff! Definitely 5* and fav'd

  • Primitive loading restrictions won't allow doublestacks in GB -

  • Track looks epic :D How much did this all cost you?

  • amazing layout

  • Love the shots towards the end! It's almost as if you filmed it from a real train.

  • This is amazing it must of took you ages could u come and do mine lol

  • omg my jaw dropped like a pair of lead pants when i saw this what an amazing layout and very cool vid .....atb dave

  • Brilliant - how did you get the moving shots of the layout (was it just a camera on a truck?) - some of the concepts of this track provides real inspiration for my 15ft x 2ft set, which is still in steady progress!

  • @Rabbitbunvoo Hello there....sat my canon ixus camera on a Hornby wagon and drive it around the layout filming! Have to be careful with the angle to avoid hitting ohle posts! regards Nick

  • what can one say but.......fantastic. great layout mate

  • what a layout - great vid! : )

  • Almost creamed my shorts when I found this video. I have pretty much everything you have here including 5 hst sets in all the livers and two APT sets. What I lack is space to assemble it all. One day maybe I can have a setup like yours...I think it's awesome!!

  • Hello there, thanks for your feedback. Thanks so much for your feedback, I have loaded a new video on (Part 17) and you will see some more scenery has been completed on the layout.

The setting is meant to be somewhere near London in the late 1980s allowing Intercity and NSE. And the occasional steam special!

  • @zzpjl8 Can you please tell me how big that is in feet,

  • James May's Top Toys made me watch this!

  • i love geting hornby trains i have the southen star track

  • I WANT SO BADLY! *Drools*

  • Very nice! Where is this model railway? It looks huge! The ride at the end made me dizzy lol unusual viewpoint though, nice to see.

  • That is brilliant!

  • Wow I wish I had that

  • 2:15 look at the wall in the background!!! how much stuff man nice 1

  • Wow. This is easily one of the largest train sets I've seen. Especially impressive given that it appears to be in O scale (yes? no?).

  • @Rotarrin It's 00 gauge.

  • @Rotarrin Not O but OO. That's trains slightly larger than HO scale (1:76 versus 1:87) but running on HO track.

  • @Rotarrin OO scale

  • @Rotarrin oo gauge by the looks

  • That is one big great layout, loved it.

Thanks for sharing it with us.

    Mike.

  • awsome i wish i had that much hornby just to say how old are you because you must be a least in your 40s to have that much hornby ?

    thanks

  • How much is the hole set?

  • @Rohit3001259 Probably expensive!

  • How much did it cost to build all of that

  • wow this an amazing model. Im impressed :) There must of been some sort of fortune you had to make all of this in 4 years. Im perticully liking the stations and village, perfect with a 10 out of 10. What tips can you give me that can help me to build my own model village. Thank you

  • Amazing layout, how do you get to it all to maintain it as some parts look well out of arms reach

  • @ymmmmij Hi there, actually it is all just within reach, carfefully designed so that one can clean all the track if required, but this has not been done as the track seems to keep amazingly clean; I find the oil builds up on the loco and coach wheels. However, making some of the scenery requires a small step ladder to stand on to reach! regards Nick

  • Well what can I say! I was joking with mates about adults with train sets(taking the piss to be honest) so we looked and saw this, silence for the whole 3.53mins and more..My opinion has reversed to you all,,This is really amazing and all respect to you for all the effort and dedication into making this, brilliant well done, and I've subscribed to show others who feel the same, also please how much roughly and how long did this set up take....Oh and yes do you live in a warehouse .....

  • Hello polar bear, thank you for your kind words. I have been building this layout for nearly 4 years, but many items are 30+ years old. I do not live in a warehouse! regards Nick

  • How much did it all cost

  • @zzpjl8 great job buddy. Keep up!! And I am sure you you will succeed.

  • how can people afford to make these?!? surly its gotta be expensive?

  • Tom, over a lifetime of collecting and making, it really isn't that bad. Of course, if I had to go and start again, it would be dear. regards Nick

  • @zzpjl8 well you should be proud of what you've got man, very proud, its quite the masterpeice. im not really into models and stuff myself, but if i had a whole bunch of money, im pretty sure i would invest in somthing like this. its fascinating.

  • @zzpjl8 YEs,ive just started an 8ft by 4 ft layout as a new project and its cost around £60 for just wood and track and other very bare essentials but saving £5 a month can slowly maintain a steady flow of build up as the layout progresses.

  • awesome ^_^

  • great br layout there are not many about. i would like to see a virgin layout

  • I WANT A HUGE ELECTRIC TRAINSET LIKE THAT :(((( I HAVNT GOT A HORNBY SET YET

  • I would comment, but my jaw fell off and my eyes have popped so please excuse me for a moment.

  • Excuse me while I pick my jaw back up off the floor...

  • Hi, that is an astounding layout. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. I wish I had the room to do that. The side camera views are astoundingly realistic.

I have 2 questions. How do you keep it dust free and how has your wife not divorced you!?

  • Hi there. Keeping it relatively dust free is easy because it is in it's own room, with no windows, so only when the door is open can dust really get in. That said, time is approaching to have a dusting session. Second question is more tricky! No seriously, my wife supports my hobby, and believe it or not, I would onoy spend arounf 4 hours per week max in the train room. cheers for now, regards Nick

  • Nice layout! The BR era is my favourite, well done on the city scenery too!

  • just add some woodlands somewhere, and you would have one of the best train layouts that i have ever seen. good job pal.

  • @SuperManbir . Hello, I have bought a couple of packs of 125 trees from Heki, and am slowly covering them with tree flock, so keep watching, the woodlands are coming

  • how do u get the track so straight

  • @jmsschooner

Hi there, it is easy - use Hornby R603 Long Straights. regards Nick

  • Thanks enjoyed watching it.

  • Nick,

    Absolutely fantastic layout. Well done.

    Matthew

  • Wow, best layout photography on youtube. Awesome, must have cost a fortune to set this up! Makes me want to start on my Tri-ang TT layout :).

  • Very curious here, how much was this in the end?

  • Very nice indeed. Add a couple of trees and it would look so much better, but its awesome nonetheless!

  • @car2004

Hi there, check out the later videos, you will see trees beginning to appear! Time and money solve everything! regards Nick

  • @zzpjl8 Is that not always the solution lol;) Yeah. I will check those vidoes out. I love trees and I love anything miniature from life-like. Did you ever see the movie Beetle Juice (two words, people)? If so, I think you know what I am talking about. Love that set. I wish I could have that!

  • fantastic video , what a great lay out , you have given me some ideas for mine, well done !!

  • i really like your layout sub me please

  • Imagine if one of the trains crashed and it set the whole lot off =p

  • Massive layout but its just too conflicting and compact with lines looping too close together.

  • Must be a bit of a mission when it comes to cleaning the track! great layout though :)

  • how do u get the cars moving

  • What a great railway and video thank you for putting on you tube

  • wow!!! This layout is amazing!!!!

  • wish to do something simular one day... awsome stuff!

  • WOW all ive got is the cornish pullman

  • all im gona say is. wow! that is sweet!

  • good layout

  • Fantastic! Nearly everything is Hornby! Good one!

  • awsome 5 stars

  • I envy that v much!!! Where is it??? It must haven't taken ages (and lots of £££) to make!! :P

  • Hi P, it has been a lifetime passion, although I only have a few sentimental Tri-ang items. The layout is in a special room at our home in Australia. I will not estimate the cost! Thanks for watching an your feedback; I will add a few more videos in the coming months. regards Nick

  • wow amasing

  • Nice!! Like the onboard camera shots. What is the size of this layout please?? Cheers.

  • Hi there, the layout is approx 24 x 13 feet. Thanks for your feedback, regards Nick

  • Nice, wish i had more space for mine, but have to make do with a round 11 & 1/2 feet X 11 1/2 feet. Cheers.

  • wow! its very big 5/5!

  • This is one of the best layouts I have ever seen! 5* + fav

  • that is the best layout i have ever saw

  • Awesome.. Must have cost a fortune to assemble and god knows how long to construct. 10/10

  • Thats really cool, I wish I had the room to put something like that together
