  • This guy was a body builder before! I saw his video clips as a body builder. It's amazing that a body builder can really play piano and play it beautifully!!!

  • the pinging sound is due to poor audio compression and not the piano.

  • Yeh, he's got a lot of skills but he's got the tempo wrong for my taste.

  • This is a good example of Impression music. He executes it well by pushing to the bottom of the keyboard. His tempo changes are well done too. It is that pianoforte that he is playing that ruins this performance. I would have never played a pianoforte that sounds like that in concert. He sounds wonderful despite the pianoforte issues; and this is the way the piece is supposed to sound. Impression music gives the Impression of something; dancer dancing their first arabesque kind of wobbly shy.

  • There is too much pinging in the keys on the pianoforte to sound good. That ruins this performance. He is a good keyboardist but that pinging sound just sounds terrible....

  • Quite literally Too macho for my likning.

  • This version is WAY to slow

  • fast ejecutation.... but.... strange hi doesent slow down on the parts he would....

  • I don't know if the original was composed to be played so fast. But I DISLIKE too much this way of playing such a masterpiece. So, I prefer a begginer to play this than the best piano player of all times. This tempo is just ridiculous.

  • too much fast, have you never seen an arabesque? It's must be a murmur.

    Debussy is not Gershwin.

    Mario, Italy

  • @gedugat

  • Such a beautiful piece :) Colourful and good.

  • Please stop beating the hell out of the keys

  • Musical!

  • Are there any white people on youtube any more? i feel like i'm janpan. they put so many of their video on youtube that it's more like japtube polluting the airwaves.

  • TOOOOOOOOOOO fast!!!!!!

  • I've watched a million videos of this piece being perfomed, and I like them all! Good job.

  • i've watched a million videos of this piece being performed, and i always feel like it's played much too fast! I'm not sure how debussy intended it to be, but i always play it must softer and don't rush any of it. it believe it to be soothing, laid back, and a piece of expression. not a piece to show off how fast your fingers can move.

  • finally, someone who shares the same view as me

  • @stopeatingmycat I completely agree, all the harmonies become lost.

  • @stopeatingmycat

I totally agree with you (and jennaofthecuckooclan) in your assessment. Maybe the more technically able a pianist becomes, he or she feels the need to play pieces faster simply because they can. On the other hand, amateurs I've heard on YouTube seem to always play slow pieces way too slow, as if by doing so they're adding emotion or expression. Instead the piece drags, and you miss the forest for the trees.

  • @stopeatingmycat Try watching smalin's version of this piece. His version is slower and smoother than this one.

  • @stopeatingmycat

me two, at least that's what my music sheet says. I've tried this speed as well but it always ruins it for me...

  • @stopeatingmycat From 2:22 its way to fast but the rest is good

I heard pros to it and it accually have to be played kinda fast!! but not that fast I agree..its very sloppy .!!

  • @stopeatingmycat yeah, leave the speedy players for the minute waltz. This song is meant to be enjoyed, but I admit I have sinned as well. I'm always tempted to play speedy from note one.

  • @stopeatingmycat agreed. when you play this piece fast it just sounds like you're reciting it from memory. the entire emotion of this song is based in it's dynamics

  • @stopeatingmycat I completely agree. I actually have yet to find a video with slow tempo

  • I played this song when i was 5 years old now I can play every thing i want its just i need some songs to play but i can better than him

  • A bit to hard for me... I don't know exactly how it's supposed to sound...

  • A bit too fast to suit me.

  • Too fast.... he misses the expressiveness of this peice... Other than than great job!

  • 私もこんな風に弾きたい。

  • He's very proficient, although I believe it's too percussive. The opening is supposed to be piano, and that sounds more like forte to me.

    Otherwise, good job.

  • I got a tremendous time from your performance.

  • pretty cool!
