my gripe with giant robots, is not their impossibility, but the fact that they strike me as weapons a tyrant would use. A benevolent ruler, would be more concerned with effectiveness without intimidation. The sniper rifle for example is not very threatening looking, but it IS effective.

on land, the human body, is not restricted in its movement, and if said humanoid robot could actually fly, it would be interesting to say the least.

personall though, screw giant robots; the way to end all war is with a quantum weapon that specifically targets the brainwaves of people prone to sociopath behavior and uncalledfor cruelty. Cruel people can not POSSIBLY operate on the same brain wavelengths as the rest of us....

I've heard people point to all kinds of engineering issues, ranging about how treads and tracks and wheels are more energy efficient, about how its 'impossible' to make a giant humanoid robot, etc, etc, etc....

I insist though, the human body, is the deadliest weapon ever made, and I do hope one day naysayers are proven wrong, and that a monster like Mazinger really is built.

The reason Mazinger is as deadly as it, I shouldn't call it a "he," anyway the reason its such a deadly machine is because it uses a source of energy that, well basically, makes it a giant mechanical man. How can I put this? The laws of physics say, the bigger a body is, the more lumbering it is. Mazinger is not lumbering, because the metal it is made out of is almost ridiculously light, additionally, the alternate source of energy is nearly limitless.

What do you mean Kaiser animation? That it looks like Mazinkaiser? Well, the reason for that is that Mazinkaiser took its mecha and character designs and some of its story from the original manga, which the TV series didn't bother too much with. So, yeah, it looks similiar, but it's AWESOME! XD

Shin Mazinger Impact is the name of the series this clip is from. And, yes, he IS strong! As to what I meant, basically, I don't want to spoil it, but Shin Mazinger ended in a way that seems to indicate that there'll be a new Great Mazinger series next TV season.

I watched this when I was like, fuck, from ages 5 to 8, in other words the bulk of my childhood.

I'm from latin america, so, I watched the 70's original in the 80's, the region always gets "hand me downs" cartoons so we watched everything later. lol.

I never did understand what it was about Mazinger's design that appeals to me so much. Its basically a panda color scheme, nothing special about it, but, Mazinger's "face," its expression is both "ominous" and reassuring at the same time, can't quite explain it. Anyway I still consider it a kid's cartoon; I tried to get into it, but I just couldn't.

I prefer Seinen, or, rather, I lean more towards seinen these days. Some kid's cartoons still appeal, but not most. Avatar.

Funny fact. If you look at Wikipeadia's list of Seinen manga, you see SEVERAL Super Robot series listed. Including... Mazinger Angels, of all things. XD Since Angels is parody, I assume a fully accurate list would include Mazinger Z itself. :p Additionally, I'd strongly advise you to check out Shin Mazinger--it is NOT the same as the original series. :p It's far closer to the manga in story and bloodiness! Plus it even takes in characters from Violence Jack, a much gorier work of Nagai's

It just might! There was some doubt before but a comment made by Nagai in Kuwaitt a few months back seems to indicate a new Mazinkaiser project is on the table, though whether or not it'll be part of the Shin Mazinger storyline is still unknown, but it seems a given since he seemed to indicate that a new Grendizer would be coming after Mazinkaiser but probably not as part of the Shin Mazinger series.
