I print out a copy of XKCD strip # 627 for anyone who calls me with questions like these, and say "if you can't do it in 30 minutes of trying using this before calling, i have to be there in person to help you".
As far as I am concerned, when senior citizens can't grasp basic computing, and we berate them for it, we are just dishing out what we have been taking for years. After all, how many times have you heard senior citizens lament how kids today can't add long numbers in their head, don't know proper etiquette, etc. etc.
Let's see, your grandparents/great grandparents invented, Computers The internet Nuclear Technology Hydrogen Technology Space Travel Radar Sonar Television Jet Propulsion Satellites And the list goes on Today's generations have invented, Umm Errr
haha reminds me of trying to teach my Grandma to use a DVD player. Every Christmas for the past 5 years I have gone to her house to teach her to use it...never any progress...
My grandmother bought a laptop because all her friends started to use email. Mostly it's just laying turned off on top of an old bureau... I don't even think she mastered to activate internet on it, even with the help of her grandchildren :/
Ja, ja, ja even me who is 58 get impatient with my sister and the rest of the family. They just don´t try -they are lazy. I do believe we can learn anything if you put your atention to it....
It was bad enough when old people couldn't figure out how to program their VCR clocks and you would always see the 12:00 flashing on the display all the time.
@forevercold88 Lol.. you know, those things they had back in the old days before DVD and Blu Ray players to play movies on. I think they might have one in the Smithsonian next to the dinosaur display. :p
@Criztian1212 I don't have any problem with it, It's just that I don't know what presents people give each other when they celebrate Hanuka. So I was surprised to know that computers were even an option. :p
