Placing the burden of responsibility with the rightful owner isn't one of the Christians' strengths. After all, the responsibility for all the bad in the world is apparently ours for being imperfect, not the responsibility of their God who created us to be imperfect.
As for unconditional love - they aren't going to understand that either. This guy's love for his child will be as conditional as his God's love for him.
