@AnnikaTory They did improve the NHS. Our education rates went up, too. The things Labour got wrong were home office laws such as ID cards and freedom of information act. Economic failures included banking regulation and sufficient management of the deficit before the crisis. Brown's tactic was to spend more to win the 2010 election, but when the crisis hit (which he had no control over, might I add) the deficit was made worse. That doesn't mean the global banking crisis was Labour's fault.

From what i've read and heard, the japanese were willing to surrender before the bombs, but only on the condition that they could keep their emperor. the americans didn't accept this, due to the policy of unconditional surrender, and thus dropped the bombs, and then accepted the japanese condition for surrendering.
