i am in love with this song. If you think about it, why are people like ke$ha (no offense kesha lovers) who are only semi-talented through auto tune are more famous then people like Dar Williams, who are obviously talented on their own . 2:35 is my favorite part EVER!!!!!

One of my favorite Dar songs. I'm glad to find it here with images so nicely done. I want to post this one on Facebook for all my friends up north who are experiencing lots of these feelings this winter. Thanks.
The lyrics work on their own as a poem, which is pretty significant when you think about it. So few modern songs make sense without their music. And the guitar and cello work beautifully. The imagery works well too. It's a sad, moving song that describes something almost everyone has experienced. There's both talent and intelligence behind all this, a rare combination.
I find this to be one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, not sad but melancoly, beautiful, wistful..... and makes me tear up nearly every time I hear it. And if it's sad, it's sad like a fading glorious sunset, or in realizing your little kid is all grown up,... abeautiful sadness.
I absolutely love Dar. Every song, every album. I have seen her live twice - once with Cry, Cry, Cry. I love good music with a brain and that is what this is.
Gosh - I love Dar's music... I've been a fan since hearing "The Honesty Room" on KMTT "The Mountain - in Seattle in like 1995? The CD at 3:00 - I recorded it and could not believe how beautiful/fun/sublime the songs were.
If you get the chance, give a listen to "TinkGerman's" cover - I passed the song on to her after hearing her cover of "Cast The Stone" by Kieran Goss (from N Ireland) - which reminds me of "February"
Dar's Spring tour is getting going - 4/14 Seattle and 4/20 is her birthday!
TK21060, I thought the very same thing! This song always reminds me of my grandparents; my grandmother died of it, and I have never heard another song that has functioned as a depiction of Alzheimer's and a breakup song.
I'm never going to be again through a february like that one that almost kiilled me. I'm just recovering and going to call it new february to celebrate that through the pain I opened my heart to real love.
A song that just kills me. Already we start February and I see this song destined to replay itself right here in my winter cottage...in the snow banks
One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard in my entire life. Completely captures the essence of a significant break-up. If you have not known Dar Williams, you have not known what music can be.
This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard in my life. It's contemporary poetry and music at its best. I wish Dar would play it more and make a video or make it available on Myspace. It is one of the saddest and truest songs about a love lost that I've ever heard.
go to 04:45 shut up :O

We listened to this song in English the other day. We liked the cello, but the part about the "whats a crocus" made us laugh.

I love this song, though I have to admit that when I first heard it (sung by Joan Baez) I thought it was about a woman with Alzheimer's!
