some advice, some people are cool and some arent, use condoms cause college kids fuck a lot, dont drink any alcohol when you have classes the next day, join clubs, cause they will make college more fun and you will meet more people
umm my advice would be umm be careful cus ur probably gonna have a lot of guys trying to ask u out cus ur real cute :] i would probably be one of those guys lol anyways congrats :]
How was it? Your first semester that is. Hope you took some summer classes and your second semster is going better! I myself did 2 years at LBCC and loved it. I made some great friends and just had a great overall time. I am now at CSULB and loving it as well. Great people, great classes, and great environment! Like everyone else has said, the best think you can do is make friends. As many as possible and keep yourself focused on the work and not the social life :)
@tylert hey how can i get a tryout for the football team do i need to have highschool experience at all??? im planning to go starting next semester i already sent the confirmation letter from online.
My advice after 3 years is to just love everyone. Some people bring highschool with them and make fads and labels and just doesn't work out. People paying $15,000 and get kicked out cause they're too cool to do the work. Just put on your proverbial nerd glasses and give someone a hug!
Make as many friends as possible<,it makes everything so much easier, and u get more out of it that way. i go there and the people are way fun, who knows maybe ill see u there in the fall, have fun!
Congratulations KisforKandyce! LBCC is a good place to start. Long Beach has it going on if you didn't know that already. As for the cheap shot someone commented about CSULB, it's not really suffering when you're surrounded by beautiful people everyday under the warm Long Beach sunshine. USC is overpriced, overrated, and the students are preyed on by the locals. Come to Long Beach and stay in Long Beach. Take care Kisforkandyce and the best of luck to you.
"USC is overpriced, overrated, and the students are preyed on by the locals."
First off, this is not accurate. I get full financial aid and therefore pay $0 for tuition. It is not overrated. I go to the 5th best accounting school in the nation at USC. Also, I have never been preyed on by the locals. CSULB students are underpaid, misguided, and barely competitive. Try SC out Kandyce. You get to style on haters like rantburg when you are a trojan.
yay i go to lbcc! my advice is get the name, number and email address from at least two people in each class..which for u is 1 lol but it really helps when u have homework questions or need help studying!
I LOVED LBCC!!! It is a great college... I learned much more at LBCC than I did at Cal State Long Beach. I was in the television and music departments. I now work at FOX Broadcasting Co. I owe my professional career to LBCC and the great instructors. Best of luck to you, and I wish you much success with your LBCC experience!
home school was cool, i finished high school in home school, went to gant, butler and then jefferson, and wilson for a little while, went to lbcc for a few acting things and culinary classes, it's just like high, sorry, theatre department is full of freaks, go bunnies,
alumni 1986 LBCC, my advice pay close attention to the class syllabus and the due dates, very important!!!! plan ahead and you'll do fine. Always be prepared for your classes, the professors tend to get a bit upset if they know you are unprepared. When you get stressed out, take advantage of the bunnies on campus, they have been there for yearsssssss. Just watch them, you can't help relaxing.
Well you won't have the one on one help like you used to, that's what study groups are for. Also your parents probly made sure you had good friends and...college can have some weird peeps. And as whichbean said, pay attention to your surroundings, especially when there's no people around(in case you need help). Always double check a counsolers work or you might take classes you don't need :\ but HURRAY you made it! and now to get a part-time job xD
Idk how the attendance policy of your college is and I know you are only taking one class but when you do take more, go to class!
I'm also curious, what kind of social life do you have and how does that all work? I mean when I was in high school, that was the only way I got to know people my own age. Just wondering!
Keep you EYES and your EARS open and be aware of your surrounding...and never forget to enjoy all the new strange and interesting people you will meet...
well congrats! first i'd tell you that only taking one class will definitely help you ease into the whole "real classroom" sorta thing. but it will definitely be easy. don't stress. just be yourself, and trust that it'll work out. ask lots of questions, and don't be afraid to participate. what better way to learn than just diving right in? good luck! :)
I'm still in high school, but I would advise that you not be afraid to ask questions. The teacher will like you more if you seem interested and eager to understand. Also, if you ask questions, you probably will understand, and will do well in your classes.
yeah I know. but still like don't teachers always say that class participation is a big part of your grade..blah blah blah. I'm not saying your term grades will be good just cause of that. but if you answer the teachers questions every once in a while and take good notes. that still will boost up your grade.
don't punch anyone in the face, punching people is bad. other than that sit and listen it's not too difficult.....O! and smile at people...but not in an "i'm a creeper" kinda way in a nice way. :)
be nice to the teachers!be friendly and very important is for you to be outgoing!!say hi to people when you walk around campus or college or w/e u call it get to the people that sit beside you in class!
My advice, don't talk or interact with anyone, keep to yourself and defintely do not ask the teacher questions, and don't ask anyone for help. That way people will leave you alone and in insolation... But then again i'm the cynical loner type who has been ruined by public school from all the teasing and haressment and is antisocial and then complains about not being able to connect with anyone so i would go with the opposite of everything my advice was to you, that should work out fine for you.
I'm the opposite: I've never been homeschooled. I've been in the same school my whole life.
Advice... hmm... the best I can really say is to just respect the teacher. You earn their trust and they see you as a good kid. So you never have to really worry about teachers hating you! :D
College is a good time to try out new sports, pastimes or hobbies. Make full use of the student clubs and societies to experiment with activities you haven't tried before.
dude we're at the same stage of our lives! i applied to a bunch of ucs and csus (one being csu long beach). ive gotten into chico and san francisco state so far woohoo. so from one college student to another: congrats! Crazy isnt it?
talk to everyone, make as many friends as you can, go to class even though you don't have to, don't take school TOO seriously, and investigate Greek Life. Sororities are a little different than Fraternities, but joining my fraternity was the best college decision I ever made.
Oh, and also make sure you get an internship in your field. Very beneficial in the long run to know what you want to do and to help you get a job quickly.
Make sure you participate and get to know the professor during office hours or even during class. And, of course, prepare hard for every class meeting; college is fun as long as you study hard and do well. Law school, on the other hand, stinks.
its more like a free for all party drinking and political ideology
sorry if i spelled your name wrong wait is your name candice but if u are not strong in ur beleifs u can b swayed i love ur vids lil drunk now do you want to have Lager ju joking good video i am happy for you I hope u do well
Do you know what size class it is? Because that really depends on how you interact with students and professors. Especially if there are like 200 or so kids in your class that can make it really hard to get to know people unless the class comes with a lab or rec.
well i dont go to college, but- just remember to keep a smile on your face, and dont be afraid to say hi. it will be very scary, but after a while im sure you will be having a great time! good luck!
I'll give you advice for college: It will probably feel the same as high school if you hang out with the same people and do the same things. So make it different than high school!! Don't hang out solely with your HS friends...get a new group of friends! Join a new sport! A new club! Don't make this the same experience. :)
No kidding, I watched the video. But everyone has friends they hung out with during their high school years, and everyone has activities that they participated in high school years. I'm saying all college students should branch out.
I ran lots of track meets there during my high school years!
well during the college years, you dont really interact with people like high school..you just go on with your business and take care of your self. You do work with others but you dont really make friends friends you know.
PS: Dont be late at a city college class since they get packed as hell! you could end up sitting for the whole class till they get more chairs. hehe :D SERIOUSLY!
One piece of advice: Get involved. That's it. Find some things going on that you are interested in and get involved. Don't just go to class and go home. Experience as much as you can.
I've been to so many different schools in my life. I was homeschooled for a while, actually... This is the first year I've gone to an actual high school. Not a private one, not a charter school, but a real legit one (teehee). I thought it would be a lot more of a culture shock than it actually was. I expected to make little to no friends, but on the contrary, I actually ended up making quite a few. I wouldn't worry, if I were you. You'll fit right in, I'm sure : )
congrats kandyce!!! thats so exciting! advice: you aren't free to talk whenever you want. listen to ur teachers and then you can talk after class. haha i get in trouble for that a lot....:D good luck!! <3
its like in mean girls when caty goes to high school for the first time after being home schooled her whole life, watch the movie if you haven't already, but it's just a movie so everything is exaggerated in it
I've been homeschooled too all my life. wow i think college is like the most exciting thing ever! ummm, i dont rely have any advice cause I've never been too school myself. haha im only 13 soo i haven't been too college either. haha
sooo ummm, just stay calm, cool, & collected, and you'll be fine. *^^*
your hair looks beautiful! advice wise...sit in the front you will get more done and pay attention easier. and relax college is kick ass the teachers should treat you like an adult so its not as tense as high school!
I don't know about college, but in high school there are all types of groups of friends. My advice would be, not to only stick to one group, but be the friendly girl who's accepted in all the groups. People think your easy going, sweet, and you get invited to lots more parties! Yeah man!
wow, that's a huge step, I'm not homeschooled and even so, college seems like one of the scariest transitions ever!
I'd say just try and be as friendly as you can with other students (though I'm sure you won't have a problem with that!) oh and don't be afraid to ask the teacher if you're totally lost, I used to never say a word cos the class intimidated me, but it's so much more interesting when you develop a relationsip with the teacher!
as a matter of interest- what class are you taking?
What class are you taking there, I go there also! =) A couple of advice that I may give you is first: rate your professor online cause you might end up with some annoying professor that doesnt teach but grades hard, and secondly, really pay attention and show up to class because you can end up far behind quick. sorry for giving you multiple advice. lol.
ummm.YAY!!!good luck.I have a feeling you will like it?Talk about exciting.i wish i could give you some GOOD advice but just have fun and participate.

One piece of advice: Get involved. That's it. Find some things going on that you are interested in and get involved. Don't just go to class and go home. Experience as much as you can.

hey your hair looks good. the only advice i have is just do all your homework and don't fall asleep in class. XD

Aww, you seem so happy! : )

Advice:
Watch movies that have college classroom scenes and do what they do.
Experiment with different classroom behaviours and find one that suits you.
Don't talk in class cuz you're teacher might get peee'd

:)

What class are you taking there, I go there also! =) A couple of advice that I may give you is first: rate your professor online cause you might end up with some annoying professor that doesnt teach but grades hard, and secondly, really pay attention and show up to class because you can end up far behind quick. sorry for giving you multiple advice. lol.
