@iluvfreestyledresage I think the car is backwards, but they added windshield wipers, a steering wheel, etc. to make it look like the front. That way, they can put a driver in the actual front seat and drive the car off easier when the scenes over.

@7ED25 The leads are okay, but they seem a bit flat...and I'm not referring to their pitch. There's no excitement or spark. Again, the background singers are incredible. They just seem dead...which may be appropriate for this show. :) Even the third vocalist (can't recall the name of his character) sings the hell out of his part. The leads are just lackluster in my opinion.  Maybe they were more exciting throughout the show.

@anmjbfilm I can tell it's been so long since you saw this video, but you have always pondered the meaning behind Riff's solo. This, in my opinion, was the most meaningful and significant lines in the entire musical and I'm glad you asked this question! Okay, here goes:

"Darkness must go down the river of night's dreaming"-this line addresses the bad times in life, in which imagination must intervene with reality to lessen the pain. "Flow morphia slow"-is his way of saying, "Let my fantasy last

@anmjbfilm "Let the sun and light come streaming into my life"-the final line reflects back on the character who we know has lived in a dark and dismal world (planet, if you will) and desires to step out of the darkness and into the light of happiness and joy. But here's where it gets tricky: All the Transvestites confuse happiness with pleasure, hence the endless partying and "social interaction". This is also shown in his body language. As an actress, I can tell when an actor feels character.

YES, I was Riff...at Conejo Players Theatre. This was definitely my favorite thing to sing...actually all of it was. SO MUCH FUN. We just won 7 theatre awards for the show including 'best overall production' for the area and I am performing Time Warp at the Ceremony. EXCITING. This was the most fun i had, cause I got to make it MY OWN.

I myself have a Hairspray audition coming up and I need to find a new take on Penny. That, and I still have to help decide a production to put on for the drama club kids. A flash mob of the Time Warp was one of my crazier ideas to raise publicity. Any advice?

@jaclynandgracie this convo was meant to be...I am in an upcoming production of Hairspray...playing Link! :-) well...doing a flashmob singing Time Warp is not a bad idea. WE DID THAT!!!! ;-) We went into a TGIF-esque restaurant and the entire cast burst into song. Singing 'Time Warp" a capella is not easy.I am convinced one of the main reason our box office numbers were raised because of that! We also sent out a documentary about how we made the show and sent it via mass e-mails

@jaclynandgracie THAT'S ME!!! :-) Red streaks and all! They did it in June to attract the younger crowds in the summer (no school)...the theatre is known for doing "safe" stuff. This was the first musical of that nature to cross the safety net, and it made the most money the entire season! THANKS!!! CANNOT WAIT!!!!

Observe how he's singing this sad song while smiling to show that Riff Raff is lost in what it means to live with joy. All he knows is pleasure, so he is grinning on the outside while silently bleeding on the inside. All of this deciphered poetry I have translated with this scene alone. Of course, other interpretations are welcome! I hope I helped! :)

This Riff Raff is probably the best one i've seen. Pretty comparable to O'Brien as far as talent and how he portrays the character. O'Brien's Riff Raff is the best only because he made and portrayed the character as he saw him in his mind, but this guy is a very more modernized version and his high note at the end of his solo makes it so much better.

@heikedit It's possible. In some roles, the villian is supposed to be charismatic and charming, but in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Riff Raff was written as a creeper so the role should be played that way.

Well to be honest it's not just Riff that looks different in this performance ALL of the costumes are different, his is just the MOST different.

He doesnt have a hunched back but form what I've noticed Riff does seems to be bending down slightly most of the time.

@doug2dougsound They didn't really "change" him, the only requirements for his character is he look creepy. The hunched back is not a defining quality at all. Every production of RHS uses different costumes and different looking people for the cast.

I search RHS vids just for Riff Raff's solo in this song, looking for how each actor pulls it off and in what ways they differ, it's one of my favorite parts of the show, just hearing the actor sing that line, and this one is definitely my favorite. He's perfect. Sure, Riff Raff is supposed to have a more scratchy voice, but that's later on. That solo is SUPPOSED to be pitch perfect, and he nailed it. Love it!

lol I don't think of Riff Raff as a bad guy. I think he was completely justified in what he did to Frank after the way Frank treated him and of course the fact that he was putting their entire people at risk lol (tho I do love Frank) but Riff Raff reminds me of Igor and him having such a beautiful voice just doesn't fit well with me. I prefer Riff Raff to have more of a screechy quality tho like I said I do love this mans voice just not for Riff Raff.

Actually if I'm honest I would consider Riff Raff one of the good guys, the way Frank treated everyone was horrible, yeah hes funny and you gotta love him but he was a horrible person.

On the whole issue of Riff Raffs voice, personally I think it can work either way it can be a screechy voice or a more smooth voice. When he sings the time warp he does have a more rock-like quality to his voice, I do understand your view but personally I think the cahracter himself can work either way.

I thought Riff-Raff's voice was unbelievably perfect -- least at the end when he took over (still watching the earlier ones)!! It was definitely unearthly... I wouldn't at all call it "pretty" or "beautiful" there!

It's like REEE-REEE-REEE-REEE!, real hard and sharp! But of course he also has to be a talented vocalist, so it's not going to be able to be *truly* bothersome, ay wot?
