Great tutorial. I use Anime Studio a lot now as its very quick to use and the switch layer is great for lip sync and almost peg bar type animation.

This can realy help but you are doing it wrong.

The leg that is fort got to stay at the same position, it dont have to move.

I said ARMATURE which is a common animation tool in programs like Flash and Anime Studio that let you control the character with "bones" so that you don't have to draw each frame. Maybe people would take you seriously if you knew something about animation.

I know what book that animation sheet comes from. I own it. It's called Cartoon Animation by Preston Blair. This isn't the best way to animate, guys. No offense, but it's not the best advice...If you want your animations to be smoother, you either have to use bone tool REAL well or do it a different way...

i couldnt do it,..i got as far as importing silly pin head ,..couldnt find him anywhere on the net,..i tried other charachters but when i tried to import them, I clicked import,then anime studio object and the file came up but it wouldnt import it,..i have no idea why

How do you make the character walk across a stationary background without repeating the path in each cycle?

Instead of moving the background, you move the character, using the "Translate layer" tool (on your left) while your character is selected in the"Layers" window (on your right).

That's what I've been doing, but my character still looks like he's just sliding along the background in his two-keyframe cycle and then going back to the start instead of actually "walking in step" forward once. I used to be able to do this when I had Flash by making my cycle as a movie clip which would be imported into the final movie. I am using a demo version of ASD6, if this helps any.

Please draw. It's really worth the effort. Then you can use line of action, squash and stretch, follow through and overlapping action to create something that looks alive and has weight, not just a flat cutout that wags its legs and floats across the screen.

yes, anime studio debut. So far, haven't notice that much differences from AS5, but this is my first trial. The "blend morph" feature is not working on this version, and that's a big disappointment!
