  • how good Trummy Young was, and how modest Duke on the piano.

and after Lois last high note I expected some thing to happen.

  • love this, makes me happy

  • TWO OF THE GREATEST JAZZ ARTISTS OF ALL !!!! THEY STARTED JAZZ !

  • @LOMBARDISPACKERS1 they defenitly did not start jazz. but yes they are very exceptional at the art

  • When Pops passed away in 1971, The Duke had this to say about Pops: "Louis was born a poor man, he died a rich man and he never hurt anyone along the way."

  • Wonderful. Buying the cd now!

  • Great to hear this version - thanks for posting this.

  • Please know that the reason some idiot dislikes a good video like this one is not necessarily because he did not enjoy the song, but rather because he knows for certain everybody else who enjoyed it just as much, or more, will react upon his action, and so he gain a little bit of attention. Talking about it doesn't help either, but what can I do? Somehow we need to get rid of these meaningless comments about dislikes: they do ruin our most precious videos!

  • @SweedRaver What Video??

  • I just can't believe there would be a "dislike". Must have a hole in the soul.

  • Awesome mate! And this would be just about the best tune on that album - just introducing some people to it. Oh for one night to get dressed up and go see these legends in action ...

The mix tape cd I play the most often in the car goes from a nasty doof doof tune straight into this ... those trumpets and the double bass sound awesome on the car.

  • Had this record as a kid. Played it over and over again.

  • Missed the Saturday dance Heard they crowded the floor Couldn't bear it without you Don't get around much anymore Thought I'd visit the club Got as far as the door They'd have asked me about you Don't get around much anymore Darling, I guess my mind's more at ease But nevertheless, why stir up memories Been invited on dates Might have gone but what for Awfully different without you Don't get around much anymore
  • Perfect combo.

  • One word to describe two wonderful musicians...perfect.

  • Good choice, Master Xelpud.

    Louis Armstrong And Duke Ellington

April 3-4, 1961, New York, NY

    Armstrong, Louis (Trumpet, Vocal)

    Ellington, Duke (Piano)

    Young, Trummy (Trombone)

    Bigard, Barney (Clarinet)

    Herbert, Mort (Bass)

    Barcelona, Danny (Drums)

Louis sounds extra gravel-voiced, maybe he had a cold!

  • @fillra

    "take it Trummy....... Trummy Young."

  • @fillra Nah that was him on a particularly smooth day :)
