Bread products do not promote mold growth if they dry out, it takes much longer for it to break down. So, if your apartment wasn't humid at all, it would take a while for the waffles to break down.
Out of curiosity, why did you leave them sitting around for weeks and weeks?
@skyerune well the apartment's maintenance staffs should have cleaned it, but they never did. we just watch it. its sitting on soil too, btw, which has a lot more moisture. also the soils get regularly watered.
why not use butter instead of non-stick spray? will caramelized them a little bit.

some kids threw some eggos around for fun, so some were in the dirt around my apartment. the eggos did not break down until over 5 weeks.
thats when i decided that i will never touch Eggos again.
