Not washers, rather Rotisserie Ovens, for Poultry. Stage hands came out in dressed in chicken suits during "leave that thing alone" and basted the rotating chickens. They used "washers", actually clothes driers, on the Vapor Trails tour, and grabbed tour shirts out of them to throw into the crowd. (to the best of my knowledge)

Not about witches per se, rather mobs passing judgement on others: "...Confident their ways are best..." But the Salem Witch Hunts and trials of early USA do figure in the song's meaning, "ignorance & prejudice" being the primary theme.

anti-witch I guess because the lyrics say the mob is walking like demons possessed which means they want to burn a witch. I guess that's what it means. I'm not sure.
