The thing about 80s anime was there were plenty of titles, especially OAVs that were never officially distributed in the US, that were bad from generically mediocre to epic stinkers. This is a whole other special level of awful and, AND it was officially released in the US. It was like CPM grabbed it as an afterthought.
I remember watching this when I was seven years old, my mom rent it in an old video club here in mexico. The title was translated as "Criatura del Espacio" (Space Creature). I used to watch it over and over again because at the time I have always seen "happy" endings and this ending is JUST CRAZY!!! By the way it was the first time when i saw too much blood in a cartoon.
@Padauy Haha, I love obscure items of obscure shit, I never thought this was ever dubbed into any language other than Japanese, and released on Betamax of all things. Nice possession.
I think you changed my mind on the whole "so bad, its good" thing. This IS probably the worst anime of the 80s cause the ending was just so too sudden. The credits was pretty much the only part I really liked :P
I said The Humanoid was bad, this thing still reigns supreme as being a dismal lot of crap, and it didn't even get any art book releases unlike the Humanoid.
This anime almost seems depressing, although not in a genuine, deliberate way.
It seems like it really doesn't have anything going for it. Just about every aspect of it is just plain ass. About the only things about it that could be considered at least somewhat positive are the fairly noteworthy voice cast and Moira's character design which is just a few steps short of being half-assed. Other than that, what I've seen of this thing just makes me feel hollow inside.
Kinda why I cannot watch this to see it's so bad it's good, it just fails to entertain. Moira's design is half-good, but her eyes still look a bit badly done. I guess the voice-acting is nice too.
Very soothing end tune.

To be honest, when they wake up in the alien hell, I do think it's genuinely creepy.

I will kinda agree, it is a bit effective.

The only greatest thing I've seen so far is the artwork in the ending credits.

The only good thing and it has nothing to do with the actual OVA at all, the cover art is good and that's it.

Yeah, I mean, at least it has Kaneto Shiozawa. That definitely counts for something.

Goddamn he was in EVERYTHING.

He was kind of like the Japanese Samuel L. Jackson of voice acting.

...Except I don't think I'm a big fan of Jackson a lot of the time.

@RockoMyler Keiko Han (Athena from Saint Seiya) also made a good voicework on Moira... (Aries Mu seiyuu also was on this)
