  • I have been searching for this movie for years. As a boy, it was my long desire to be in the Vienna Boys Choir. But, as it out , I proudly sang in the Anglican Cathedral Choir, Calgary for 30 years

  • im still looking for this film any one have this downloaded here on you tube im still looking

  • where can I see this full film is it downloaded here on you tube I hope so,, please let me know I want a copy of this entire film ,,,

  • Johann Strauss composed this wonderful waltz in 1866. Originally it was only composed for orchestra, but he himself put lyrics to it. In 1889 Franz Gremeth put a new wording on it - and that's the one that got famous.

  • There were other videos from this movie years ago. What happened to them? Does anyone know? Why were they removed. I purchased this video on VHS about 25 years ago. The fact that it is not on DVD by now is unbelievable. The WSK organization does very little to promote the boys, school or music, here in America. The advertising and promotions are sorely lacking. I have been a fan for over 40 years (first saw them at the Town Hall in NYC in 1959). Walt Disney should release a clear copy for DVD.

  • Oh, I do believe the overdramatic, over exaggerated conducting is because he is not only conducting the choir but the orchestra--he needs to conduct so all can see. :)

  • I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this movie! I grew up watching this film (VHS) countless times; the instructor reminded me of Desi Arnaz-who reminded me of my jr high band instructor. LOL I wish Disney would return to family valued films like this one. Thank you for posting.

  • Answering your question....It's the last part of the movie

  • Videos in good image and sound quality with some parts of the film in German language are available at the channel of wskfan but most of them private for friends only.. Interested users should write a message to wskfan....:)

The clip "Omnes de Saba venient" for example is public.

  • the film is avalible from Amazon.com. That's where I got my copy. It's no VHS

  • Where can I see this entire film is it in parts here on you tube

  • does anyone know if this will ever be on dvd?

  • it is the famous waltz from Johann Strauss Blue Danube

  • I belive this at the end of the Movie where the conductor has found out that the young man now conducting voice has changed and will have to leave the other boys. What he is doing is showing the young man that he still can have a future in music even if it is no longer singing. he can also conduct and compose!

The song is the Blue danube Waltz

  • My mother had this record and used to play it with regularity in the house. Fantastic stuff!

  • this was my favorite movie when i was a kid...i watched over and over again until my video was warn down, now i need to find it on dvd ...does anyone know where i could get a copy?

    thankx for puttin this up

  • Sorry, but the movie isn't released on DVD - yet! But it will happen.

  • sem palavras .

  • i discovered this at tower records years ago, my daughters fell in love with it for years, it's such a great influence on them and they grew up to be well cultured ladies

  • I videotaped this about 13 years ago on the Disney channel. It was an awesome movie when I saw it as a child with my Mum at the cinema. I wished I had been born a boy cause I was so inspired. It was just as much an inspiration now as it was back then. I wouldn't part with those tapes for the world.

  • woah.....what's with the conducting?

he looks like he is gonna eat someone.

    anyway, nice singing

  • this is the end of the film, when the old tenor boy, is the conductor, ´cause him change of voice he can´t pl

    ay very well

  • Gee, thanks, but didn't someone just make that clear?

  • Just so you know, movies have been my hobby since... Also, I was in a parochial school boys choir from age 8 to age 14 (soprano) until my voice broke. Life imitating art and vice versa. I remember seeing this movie at a Saturday matinee with my Dad around the time of my first performance. Talk about inspiration!

  • 'Almost Angels',(1962), Disney, now in the 'vault', starring Sean Scully. Song is Johann Strauss II's 'An der schonen blauen Donau' (On the Beautiful Blue Danube). (Ya, ich bin Deutscher). Late 1800's waltz, lyrics added later by..? Film's last scene. Sad his voice has broken, the chormeister lets him direct the final song. Two soloists at 2:47 are actors lip synching; they portray his best friends. All other boys are genuine choir members. Any ?'s.

  • Yes, it is amazing for this young teen conductor. I love to see this movie, can you provide me the name of this movie please?

    Thanks ahead.

  • The Title: Almost Angels

The cast: The vienna boys choir itself(during that time).

I have watched the movie and it is nice.

  • The name of the movie is ' Born To Sing' It was shown in Malaysia more than 40 years ago

  • Perhaps so in Asia, but the rest of the Disney world saw it as "Almost Angels".

  • Thank you. They are Born To Sing and sing Almost Like Angels. . The name Almost Like Angels is very fitting indeed.

  • yeah, I too was a boy soprano - and I remember being moved by this movie - thanks, skunch54 for this post.

  • You're welcome, cajunnb. I just wish that everybody would read ALL of the comments before adding their own redundant comment or question! My original comment in May '07 answered just about any possible question.

  • Yes, besides wanting to win the Little League World Series and be in Williamsport,Pa. How I dreamed of singing with The Vienna Boys Choir and travel the world! Let's see this is the part where after the boy conducting had been "discovered" because his voice had changed but they let him stay and conduct!

  • Thanks for the info. Do you know the name of the movie that I can rent? Also, what year was that when this amazing young teen conductor conducting this Blue Danube?

    Thanks ahead.

  • saw this movie years ago (40) whats the name of it?? they are my favorite choir

  • I first saw the choir in their initial trip to the US in the 40's after the war. I was in a boy's choir and longed to join up with them but of course impossible. Years later I heard them again in Minneapolis and the amazing thing was none had grown at all. LOL

  • agressive directing. Ha.

  • the music is the blue danube waltz by strauss i think.

  • yeah, the boy 'directing' is on the beat but that's about all that can be said for his performance, lol

  • I sang in the church and school choirs as a kid (without any true vocal training) but would have given anything to have sung with the Vienna Boys Choir. Watching this scene when I obtained the video made me pretty misty-eyed with envy, and I'm not ashamed to admit it!

  • I am very sorry for the loss of your friend but I know his music lives on in your heart. I don't understand why Disney won't release this unless it's a couple of adults arguing over money. blaine

  • I have the full video (1962)- wonderful film that Walt Disney won't re-release :( I was lucky to find a copy on ebay :)

  • I got a VHS off of Amazon, but there weren't that many. I'd love to see it on DVD.

  • The video is from the 1960's Disney movie "Almost Angels". I'm told that the actor "directing" is actually just waving his arms around instead of doing any real directing.

  • No, he's on the beat, but a bit overdramatically, to be sure. The boy in glasses at 2:24 is Bernhard Hiebsch, who became a personal friend, and who tragically died of cancer about ten years ago.

This is the WSK actually singing properly, beautifully, and memorably. Ignore what they've become. This one is the real deal!

  • Sadly I lack the musical training most choir enthusiasts have. I always apreciate input from you and the other experts.
