  • Yo that scarecrow is scary

  • what is being shown at around 1:00?

  • @fuckgoblin "His Majesty, The Scarecrow of Oz" 1914 silent film

  • how old was he when he died

  • About 64.

  • anyone got more clip of land of oz with shirley temple wasnt sure i saw when i was kid

  • I just put up a video called "The Wonders of Oz Episode 8," where the special is covered with more clips, and it also available on DVD.

  • I am never going to get this song out of my head.

  • A wonderful tribute to the man

    known as"The Royal Historian Of

Oz!". Thanks For remembering Oz' Creator

Frank Baum on his 150th Birthday!

  • Get over the fuss...geez

  • When I made this, "Journey Back" wasn't on DVD. I don't own the Austrailian movie. I do, however, plan on making a follow-up to this video for the International Wizard of Oz Club's 50th.

  • Disney wrote this song. They own the movie rights to the last thirteen Oz books, but they haven't used them. They only made one move, Return to Oz, based on The Marvelous Land of Oz and Ozma of Oz. I think that's horrible! If they don't use they should lose them...

  • I wonder if Jack Pumpkinhead and Peter Pumpkinhead are related? (There was a song by the Crash Test Dummies called "Peter Pumpkinhead". It always goes through my mind whenever I see Jack.)

  • I'm an Oz fanatic, and a big fan of Lyman Frank Baum!! I ever put this together deserveds to be up in the ranks with the famous Royal Oz historians, right after Roger S. Baum! You certainly are the Royal Kid of Oz, if you met Ozma you would surely be invited to live in her castle in the Emerald City, perhaps in a room next to the Shaggy Man's!

  • i swear to god.jesus christ at the end of the video and im not exxagerating i was about to cry. i like this cool vid

  • Wow! That's a cool response!

  • Baum wrote an editorial for the Aberdeen Saturday Pioneer upon the death of Sioux Chief Sitting Bull stating: "The Whites, by law of conquest, by justice of civilization, are masters of the American continent, and the best safety of the frontier settlements will be secured by the total annihilation of the few remaining Indians. Why not annihilation? Their glory has fled, their spirit broken, their manhood effaced; better that they die than live the miserable wretches that they are."

  • Well, there are no Indians in Oz.

  • Oh my lol... not that genocide is funny... but what a way to be a party pooper :P

  • Well, if you must fuss about Baum, what about Twain?

I know that was a racist remark, but Baum taught through his books to love individuals.

In those days, I'm sure that the native ameriacans were feared and hated by the common man.

  • Funny how no one ever posts the first part of that editorial: "Sitting Bull, most renowned Sioux of modern history, is dead. He was not a Chief, but without Kingly lineage he arose from a lowly position to the greatest Medicine Man of his time, by virtue of his shrewdness and daring. He was an Indian with a white man's spirit of hatred and revenge for those who had wronged him and his."

  • "In his day he saw his son and his tribe gradually driven from their possessions: forced to give up their old hunting grounds and espouse the hard working and uncongenial avocations of the whites. And these, his conquerors, were marked in their dealings with his people by selfishness, falsehood and treachery. What wonder that his wild nature, untamed by years of subjection, should still revolt?"

  • What wonder that a fiery rage still burned within his breast and that he should seek every opportunity of obtaining vengeance upon his natural enemies.

"The proud spirit of the original owners of these vast prairies inherited through centuries of fierce and bloody wars for their possession, lingered last in the bosom of Sitting Bull. With his fall the nobility of the Redskin is extinguished..."

  • I guess attributing to Sitting Bull the respect due a King, and labeling whites "selfish, false and treacherous" just doesn't help reinforce the 21st century racism posters like you want to force on the 1860s writer.

  • Very nice. Where did the Land Of Oz clips come from?

  • Check the updated video information!

  • Thanks

  • they had polychrome, Ozma and many other Baum characters in that special, the only episode of the MMC I liked.

  • That was awesome.
